PHPBuilder.com is starting off a new series today that, if you're new to the PHP language, aims to teach you everything you might need to know to get up to speed. Today they've posted the first article in the series, an introduction to the author (Peter Shaw) and a mention of what PHP can do for you.
In this 10 part series, I'm going to take you through the basics of PHP and hopefully give you a taste of what such a versatile language can do. I am not, however, going to preach that PHP is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'll let you decide that for yourself!
He introduces himself first, talking about some of his past experience with PHP and other various languages. He then goes on to talk about where PHP came from, a high-level look at how it works in both the web and command-line environments.

iBuypower has long been the champion of the cheap gaming PC, and they’re looking to continue this with the latest addition to their line – the Gamer Fire 600. And while the case looks like something that a six year old with an overactive imagination thought of, the innards don’t look half bad.
Underneath the hood of this eye-murdering monstrosity is an AMD Phenom II X3 720 Tripe-Core CPU, Gigabyte’s CrossFire chipset, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and an ATI Radeon HD 4830 video card. To help fill it out there’s a 500GB HDD, as well as a 20x double layer DVD writer.
The system will all come to you for a reasonable $774 at the base level. It is possible to upgrade the box so that it will include an AMD Phenom II X4 810 Quad-Core CPU, two ATI Radeon HD 4870-X2 video cards, and for an extra $96 you can upgrade the storage capacity to 1.5TB. Not too shabby!

In this new tutorial from NETTUTS.com there's information on how to create a gallery of the images from your Flickr account with help from SimplePie, a PHP tool for parsing XML feeds (like RSS).
Ok, so we're going to be touching on a number of technologies for this tutorial. We'll be using an RSS feed from Flickr, a bit of PHP, and some jQuery to make things nice and interactive! We'll use SimplePie to handle the RSS feed, as it makes life much easier, and can be used in any other projects where RSS feeds are involved.
They pull in the public photo information for a given user ID and parse details like the title of the gallery and each image's details, including descriptions. Add in a few links, some Javascript (jQuery) and HTML and you have a simple image gallery that automatically updates when you upload new photos to Flickr. You can grab the source here or just see it in action in their demo.

The Canon EH19-L Semi-hard Case (Black) is a vinyl eveready case made to carry a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi SLR camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens attached. It is carried by the original strap supplied with the camera. |
|||
|
CUSTOMER REVIEW - Fits my canon eos perfectly with the lens. I like the hard casing to keep the camera safe and protected. Only draw back is that there isn't any strap to carry the case. When the camera is in it you hold the camera in the casing by the cameras strap and that works great.. but when you go to use the camera there's no place to hold on to the casing. Not a big deal....but just thought I'd mention. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I was looking for a small case so that I could put the camera in my backpack or carry it around safely without a large camera bag and this is perfect! CUSTOMER REVIEW - As expected, this item was perfect for my camera. It's great for protecting your investment. The item was delivered just in time for my vacation. It molds perfectly with my "Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)". It does not take up much space and is great for travel. EH19-L Semi Hard Case CUSTOMER REVIEW - I received this product on time and fast. The case is not what I expected and maybe that's my fault but I thought all Canon cases attached to the camera at the bottom... this one don't attached to the body of the camera. It is not very hard and offers little protection against bumping the camera. Case must be completely removed the take a picture. CUSTOMER REVIEW - a lil pricey bit it does what it says, a basic no-frills soft case...xsi + wrist strap + kit lens all fit nicely snug with velcro strap... upgraded to Tamron 17-50 and it no longer velcros shut...oh well, until i can get a proper camera bag , this will have to do... |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - bought this to fit my 18.5" Toshiba Quosmio and it is a very tight fit. I would say it is better suited to fit only up to a 17" laptop... CUSTOMER REVIEW - The shipping was very fast. Also, I like the bag. For me, it was a very great deal and I recommend this seller. CUSTOMER REVIEW - After searching relentlessly for a case that would fit my rather large 18.4 inch laptop I found this one. One problem. It doesn't really fit. I must jam it in to make it fit. I thought a 19" laptop case would fit my 18.4" laptop. Guess not. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I own a Sony Vaio VGN-AW190 that has a 18.4" widescreen. I expected a bag with "...19" laptop messenger bag" to fit my laptop with ease; not the case. Its way too small. Just check the overall dimensions of the bag for reassurance. The bag looks lice, is sleek and well made, But functionality first! I will be returning this bag. Sorry World Richman. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This pouch is just right for protecting my camera when I travel. It's small enough to fit in my coat pocket, or I can use the should strap. The pocket is useful for keeping extra memory. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Perfect size for my Fuji camera~ I like the fact that it is small and well cushioned. I like knowing my camera is well protected. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This case was thrown in a package deal. It's nice and sturdy, however it's on the small side- my J28 Fuji barely fits in it with an SD card- that's about it. And it wouldn't hurt if there was a better closure that a piece of velcro. This would be quite an improvement. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Its OK. It has good appearance from outside. I had another similar product from Case Logic and expected it to be just the same. But it is very tight even for my compact Sony camera (DSC-W290). The small pocket is no good either. Aesthetically very good but when it comes to funtionality it is not seem to be doing good job. Overall I would say its okk. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Great price for a great product. No problems, so far I've been very happy with the product, which I gave to my teen-age son (along with a new camera) for Christmas. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Product feels heavy, like it is solid, feels good, as if it is built well, not some cheap lite weight plastic...Plug it in and listen to it, not bad,,Problem i notice is sound..It sounds like when you hear it, sounds like someone is shaking a salt shaker at the same time...So, although what you do hear, is good, i dont like the additional salt shaking sound added to it.. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I really wanted to love this little speaker. The design is small, unintrusive, smart lookin' and very handy. The "flex" cord is firm & pose-able, which is really helpful, but the sound is not good. Distortion! Try listening to Joanna Newsom play the harp at a mid-range volume and that distortion is an insult. First I bought the Triton usb laptop speaker (the one that looks like a white hockey puck), and i love it. Amazing sound, but the short cord was a hassle when moving my laptop from my desk to my bedside table. Ultimately, I'd fumble and drop the thing. After a year, the cord broke. I was sad, so i decided to get the b-flex because of the firm cord. If the b-flex was my only experience in external speakers, i'd probably settle. But when the music is turned up loud, it becomes very muffled and tin canny. So I'm going to return it. I might just get another Triton, or I might keep looking. The b-flex is totally fine for increasing your volume for movies, but if you wanna rock out to music then just get the Triton external speaker. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This product is compact, easy to use and a must have if your laptop has low speaker output. I have a Lenovo laptop and the highest volume was quieter than the lowest output using this speaker system. The sound is quite good, not outstanding but I was pleasantly surprised at the volume and the quality this little pack puts out. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Why?? Oh why? It looked like the ultimate space-saving solution!!! Sounds great on my HP Desktop. But wouldn't work for it's intended purpose - my Mac Book Pro... :-( CUSTOMER REVIEW - I purchased this for my husband so he could have better sound while on the road traveling. We were both so surprised how well it sounds and how clear it is. Perfect size and well worth the price! |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice. CUSTOMER REVIEW - It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black CUSTOMER REVIEW - Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done. CUSTOMER REVIEW - My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy. We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!! He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement. I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation CUSTOMER REVIEW - On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!! *When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote! *When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better *The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears! I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Doesn't work with my Sony Vaio with windows 7! Repeated failure to recognize the USB software. Occasionally worked, but droped out again and again. High pitchy frequency noise when it did work. We asked for help from the service department at JLAB audio which proved slow and unprofitable. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I ordered this speaker a few months ago based on the good reviews on Amazon. I have to say, there is NOTHING Bose-like, or even good, about this little speaker. The sound is tinny and sometimes forces a reboot in order not to come out static-y. It makes a sound like it is lying against a metal object when it isn't...For $40, I'd say definitely not worth it. I am ordering a replacement today after only a few months and am going to spend a little more to get something that sounds decent. Am upset to have wasted $40. Save your money. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this speaker to enhance (improve) the poor, tin-like sound quality of my MacBook. It works just as I hoped. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I travel a lot and like to play music in my hotel room through my laptop but wanted to get something with more juice than the speakers built into my laptop. I was extremely disappointed when I first heard these speakers. They were so weak and distorted I switched back to my Laptops speakers after just a couple minutes of the weak, fuzzy distorted sound they made. They were clearly weaker than my laptops built-in speakers, which are not that great. I recommend these only if your current laptop does not have its own speakers, otherwise it's basically the same or worse for playing music as standard built-in laptop speakers. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a well designed (except for on small thing - see below) little gadget/product/speaker. It works exactly as advertised. Not meant to be mini Bose speakers. They are just much better versions of laptop internal speakers that can be pointed in any direction rather than the ones in the laptop that are weak and lame and point straight up instead of at the listener usually. Just plug and play. I was looking for a pair of mini stand-alone speakers for a computer that I use for youtube and instructional video type stuff where I don't need great stereo audio but the internal speakers just aren't good enough. This is where these fit it. They take up no actual desk space and are much louder than the internals and quality is good too. I ordered another one and I wouldn't hesitate to give these as gifts. My one tiny con is that it doesn't have an on/off or volume control but they work off of the same controls as the internals so wtf. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I've been using the speaker for a few weeks now and I love the improved sound coming from my computer! My laptop admittedly had poor sound quality which I knew when I was buying the machine. This small, inexpensive speaker quickly and easily fixed that problem. I use the speaker regularly when I'm watching YouTube videos or streaming music online. The sound and clarity are amazing. The small size and flexibility make it easy to store in my laptop bag. The only negative aspect to the product is the amount of give and play it has in the USB port. I recommend this product to all my laptop toting friends! CUSTOMER REVIEW - These speakers look cool and have easy plug in. I have a Mac-Pro. The speakers have no volume control, no bass and mediocre sound quality. Honestly, they should be maybe [...] bucks at best. The only thing they are useful for is that they can be turned towards you, and that gives it a louder sound. Todays laptops don't have speakers that can be put into a vertical position and that sometimes makes for less loud of a volume, especially when watching a movie or such and the lap top is 5 feet away. Overall, i feel that my Mac's speakers have a better equalizer. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have Toshiba laptop, each time I plug these speakers they disable the mouse and don't produce sound?!? Tried it with desk top, worked fine - good quality sound. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I don't feel I've been ripped off. Until I worked on integrating these speakers into my system, I've been in love with ubuntu Linux. But now, my enthusiasm is less because this task shouldn't have been so difficult. I found it extremely hard but bottom line, I do have them working. The volume is great, a million percent better than my pc speakers. Yes, the base could be improved but for the price, I find it better than acceptable. I'll document here in case it helps someone else: Note: not sure this is the right order but the end result of this for my system was successful - may be some reboots necessary between steps.. 1. confirm that Pulseaudio volume control and Pulseaudio meter control is installed - (go to pull down menu for Applications, then add/remove, then search for pavumeter and pavucontrol - if not installed, then install) 2. double click on "master applet" (mine looks like a microphone in upper right corner- single click will get you only volume increase or decrease- need to double click) 3. select "c-media usb audio device (alsa mixer) from the list in the pull down at the top of the box FYI - I know that my speaker was "C-Media" by entering following command from a terminal session: $ cat /proc/asound/cards returned info below: ---------------------------------------------------- 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0xf4600000 irq 22 1 [default ]: USB-Audio - C-Media USB Audio Device C-Media USB Audio Device at usb-0000:00:1d.0-1, full speed ---------------------------------------------------- 4. start pulse audio device chooser in pulldown under Applications/sound 5. select preferences in chooser and then check box for "start applet on session login" 6. (this is most important step to do!) modify /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base by commenting out "options usb snd audio index=-2 i.e. insert "#" at beginning of line (this line was preventing the usb speaker from becoming the default) 7. click on system pull down menu, then preferences/sound and click on devices tab, then set or confirm that: a. "Sound events - sound playback - says "c-media..." b. "Music and movies - sound playback - says "c-media..." c. confirm both fields under Audio Conferencing say "pulseaudio server" d. confirm that "Default Mixer Tracks" says "c-media..." 8. Note: need to reboot (now is good time if not rebooted yet) at some point after the file in modprobe.d directory changed and before you can increase volume on usb speakers in next steps 9. click on pulseaudio applet (mine is in a tray at the top of my screen) 10. select volume control 11. select playback 12. then adjust volume by sliding bar - this was point that my speaker(s) began working properly CUSTOMER REVIEW - My laptop speakers were never very loud. Often I couldn't hear any type of live broadcast. This has good volume and works fine. No issues, maybe a bit "tinny" sounding but not unusual for something this small. Convenient, easy to use. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a very nice little speaker. It sounds fantastic compared to laptop speakers...and more than adequate for casual listening. The volume goes up pretty loud with no distortion. Very portable and small. I plugged this little speaker into a USB port on my laptop and it worked. Brilliant! CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this for travel to use with my MacBook, and it fits the bill perfectly! Nice sound, and it fills my hotel room (or wherever I'm staying) with just the right amount of volume. Not too loud, not too soft. I wish it had a volume control on the piece itself, but that is a VERY minor issue, as you can easily control the volume via your laptop's keyboard. A travel case would be nice as well, since I tend to throw it in my briefcase and it has gotten scratched. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product and would purchase it again for friends/gifts/etc. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The JLab B-Flex is a portable lap top speaker goes everywhere my lap top goes....whether I am traveling for business, watching a DVD or listening to a music favorite. The B-Flex can be counted on to deliver clear and high quality sound, especially when there is other distracting background noise. It makes a unique gift for coworkers, friends, and family. I have owned mine for over two years without ever having a problem. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I travel a lot, sometimes for 3+ weeks a time, and ALWAYS carry on my luggage. As a result, I am continually trying to find ways to minimize bulk and weight, particularly of the electronics. With a laptop, phone, camera, IPOD, and their chargers, there is little room left for speakers. And the speakers on my near UMPC sized laptop are not good. The B-Flex is a wonderful answer to this problem. Speakers are a great way to amplify laptop sound in the confines of a hotel room, and they take up approximately the same amount of suitcase space a a computer mouse. AMAZINGLY good quality--especially considering the size and price. I have tried many options and these are BY FAR the best of the small speakers. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - The speaker connection was all messed up, so it made a horrible skipping sound. Unfortunately I was unable to return it. Sad. Sound was kind of tinny, but I could have lived with that, I think. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - When I' watching videos on youtube, the speakers are loud and work great, but when I'm watching a movie on my laptop, the speakers are still not as loud as I would like them to be, but passable. I like the portability of the speaker and then color (pink). It'll be fine for when I show movies (or animations) in class lectures. The only thing I wish it had was a carrying case. This is why I gave it four stars. I like to store my valuable items in cases to ensure longevity. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this speaker to listen to classical music streamed over the internet and it is terrific! Much better sound quality than that provided by my laptop alone. Highly recommend! |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - The Miniblaster is just that...it is loud...sound quality is not great....convenient size, portability make it desirable ...if you are looking for a convenient way to listen to your ipod while traveling, walking, etc....however, if you are looking for quality sound, you get what you pay for... CUSTOMER REVIEW - Going on the reviews of others, I bought the miniblaster for a new 7 inch portable TV with inaudible audio (tiny speakers). I am very well pleased with the mini-blaster, it sounds terrific for its size; maybe I will spring for an IPOD now, since it fits right inside the miniblaster! The blaster uses four AAA batteries or a supplied power converter-- a real bargain in my book!! CUSTOMER REVIEW - This tiny speaker has much louder volume than my built in laptop speakers and even better than the Logitech audiohub which costs 4 times the price and is 5 times the size. Great for travel with a laptop. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This product is awesome. I bought a white one for me over a year ago, and my sister liked it so much, I purchased the black one for her as a christmas present. She loves it just as much as I do. I hope they hurry up and design a new style to accomodate the latest design Ipod has adopted. I am glad that I have a G2 model so that I can enjoy this product! CUSTOMER REVIEW - Great sound for such a small unit. I use rechargeable batteries and they lasted pretty long. Easy operation. The protective jacket for your nano, that comes with the unit, does not fit well. But not needed, if you use an invisible shield which does the same job. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I love this little speaker. It is super easy to use (I read about some people having problems getting the iPod in and out, but I thought it was extremely easy). The speaker has a rubber sleeve made for the iPod to protect it while in use with the speaker, which is great. I got the black one and think it's very sleek looking. The sound quality is sometimes a tiny bit fuzzy, but I think it's very good given the size of the device (about 4 inches by 2 inches). I really love this for use in my car or listening to my iPod around the house. I don't know if I would use this for parties or large areas, but as a personal player, this was worth every penny. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected. The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on. The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected. It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out. In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for. I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most. If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something. Enjoy! CUSTOMER REVIEW - I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice. So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power). It is a great solution for what I was looking for. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries. |

IBM ThinkPad T40 Reviews
The ThinkPad T40 I received for review came with Service and Troubleshooting guides which are very thorough and a Windows XP User Guide. Within minutes I was connected to my office network and accessing the Internet. No configuring was required. Wi-Fi connecting is just as quick provided you have your login information ready.
The full size keyboard made entering information and working on documents no different that working on my desktop. Too often laptops have significantly smaller keyboards which require a period of adjustment and too frequent errors to work smoothly in a quick time frame. The IBM ThinkPad T40 demonstrates that portable doesn’t mean compromising on the size of the keyboard.
IBM also provides International Warranty Service which is geared at mobile workers traveling outside North America. Before leaving on your business trip be sure to check if you will have coverage where you are going.
IBM prefers the terms “notebook” or “portable computer” rather than “laptop.” Users are reminded not leave your computer, AC adapter, or accessories in contact with your lap or any part of your body for an extended period when the products are functioning or when the IBM ThinkPad T40 battery is charging.

Analysis
The ThinkPad T40 forms the vital center of IBM’s professional laptop line and is IBM’s design leader. IBM attempts to differentiate in this market by the addition of value-added features, such as:
Standard
The Ultrabay Slim integrated modular bay supports all optional Ultrabay Slim devices, including CD-RW/DVD-ROM ‘combo’ drive, hard drive, or second ibm thinkpad t40 laptop battery. At 9.5 mm, UltraBay Slim modules are among the thinnest in the industry.
Flexible docking options common to ThinkPad X, T, and A Series notebooks:
ThinkPad Port Replicator - cable management
ThinkPad Dock II - cable management plus desktop expansion including an additional Ultrabay 2000
For additional durability, the ThinkPad T40 has a magnesium top cover and an Integrated HDD Shock Absorber, which provides a cushion of air to help protect the hard disk drive from the shock of being moved while the ThinkPad notebook is in normal use.
Combining a track pad and a TrackPoint pointing device, the ThinkPad UltraNav multi-pointing system lets one work however one is most comfortable. Having this standard is a big change for IBM (it was optional on the T30), and allows users who are uncomfortable with IBM’s TrackPoint to still choose ThinkPads.
Rapid Restore PC helps protect data and minimize downtime by creating a mirror image of the hard disk drive and restoring it quickly.
Integrated wireless technology - a dual antenna system is built into either side of the display for enhanced signal strength, whether with Intel or Cisco Wi-Fi now or for upgrades to future wireless technology.
ThinkLight keyboard light lets you work in low-light conditions.
Optional
The hardware-based Embedded Security Subsystem 2.0 helps protect data locally and secure communications.
Integrated Bluetooth technology lets one connect without cables to enabled peripherals such as printers, cell phones, and handhelds. When (and if) Bluetooth takes off, having it integrated will be a considerable advantage.
Technical issues & recommendations
Information Systems & Computing (ISC) does not expect there to be significant hardware-related compatibility problems with the ThinkPad T40. However, the ThinkPad T40 will have the same software-related conflicts that any Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional workstation would have.
ISC has tested the ThinkPad T40 for compatibility with University-supported hardware and software. The ThinkPad T40 is compatible with the 2002 PennConnect CD-ROM and with Penn’s supported network applications.
It should be noted that the ThinkPad T40, like many newer laptops, does not ship with a standard floppy drive. IBM’s suggested solution for users who need a floppy drive is to connect one via USB.
Properly configured, these workstations meet ISC’s Recommended Configurations for Mid-Weight ‘Desktop-Equivalent’ Laptop Workstations. As always, support providers should be aware of the potential technical issues associated with any new workstation design.

DevShed finished off their tutorial series looking at mapping IPs to countries in a CodeIgniter application with this new article completing the application to provide a correct products list based on their location.
In this final chapter of the series, I'll be discussing how to build multi-lingual web pages by combining the functionality brought by the "iptocountry" MySQL table that you learned in previous tutorials and the power of the Code Igniter PHP framework.
Their database tables sort the prodcuts out with the three character country code they're associated with. The IP-to-country tables then help with the translation between the visitor's IP address and which products should be shown.
