The DUO Digital Pen Mouse needs more work on calibration for the corners of the screen. When the pen moves towards any corner of the screen the cursor will move away from the pen. In addition, how you hold the pen is important based on how the pen was held during calibration. The pen could also be thinner, since it is a little bulky in size.

This device does even more than i initially thought. Simple USB plug in, easy setup, the handwriting is flawless...never a broken link in the lines or anything! Excellent hardware and comes in really nice packaging. You have to recalibrate once in awhile to keep the tip accurate with the pointer on screen, but it only takes like 10 seconds. I use this mostly with Word, Photoshop, and Powerpoint. Highly recommended!

This is one of my best purchases. It can play the 720p videos from my Flip fullscreen perfectly, run all my favorite XP apps, and the battery lasts a very long time. I used it mostly as a PDF reader and to video chat with Skype. I got an early model and it had a defect where there was cross between the wifi and speakers so the speakers would occasionally hum, I've sent it back under warranty and am waiting for it.

not having the patience to wait for the rumored apple tablet computer i decided to give the villiv a try as the specs were not bad. first off, the build quality seems to be pretty high. very sold, and somewhat heavy, feel to it. not the kind of device that you will hold in one hand while reading etc. definitely not a 'kindle'. variety of ports is good, a full size usb port is included. only thing missing is ethernet. the real thing holding this device back is the software. in this age shipping a touch screen tablet computer with windows XP is just plain silly. xp is already outdated as it is, but try running it on such a tiny screen and its an exercise in frustration. sure, with the stylus you can hit keys pretty accurately but thats not what a touch screen should be about in 2009. i felt like a chicken pecking at corn. and of course, no gestures like zooming or scrolling as with an itouch. the qube interface is cute but hardly enough. you constantly have to jump to xp to have any real stuff done. the main reason why i got this device was for its gps capability. unfortunately i could not get this to work. neither with ms streets and trips nor garmin mobile pc. not once did any software get a link to a satellite. probably just defective. but at least villiv should have included a utility for checking out the gps module. instead there was only one puny app to change the baud rate. as for speed, the villiv not not disappoint in this area. pretty responsive for such a small machine. one word of caution, DO NOT GET THE 16GB VERSION. you are only left with something like 4GB for your own stuff. rest is used by the system (xp, hidden restore partition, etc). also do not password protect your account. you will not be able to logon from the welcome screen as the soft keyboard cannot be brought up at this point. (had to hook up a usb keyboard. image this happens while traveling. villiv, are you listening?) in conclusion, if you need a mobile device that runs full fledged windows xp the villiv might just be the gadget for you.

The Viliv Tablet is a great Mobile Internet Device with an Intel Atom processor so its fast. Its 7" screen is great for watching Adobe flash movies off [...] and other movies even in 720p HD. Great for browsing and doing email, blogs even the odd Excel spreadsheet for my expenses on the road! I prefer the external keyboard + mouse if I need to enter a lot of text, otherwise onscreen is fine for browsing Battery life is good, I get nearly 5 hours depending on how I use it. This is perfect leight weight to take on the road rather than my bulky 15" Toshiba laptop. With its built in WiFI, GPS and Bluetooth I can quickly connect either to a WiFI hotspot at Starbucks, Hotel or McDonalds! I can get directions over GPS using either Google or StreetDeck I also move my pictures from my camera to this unit when I fill it up so doubles up as a photo storage unit on the road. Taking pictures is a snap if I forget my digital camera and it runs Windows XP and not that slow Vista This is such a handy portable device [...], what more can one ask for!

I find the X70 very nice to use with an external keyboard and mouse in "desktop" mode. I get the size benefit of the little 7-inch EEE PC but retain the utility of a full-sized keyboard when needed. I used it this way almost all day today and didn't feel like I lost any functionality at all. The screen is the perfect size for the 1024×600 resolution and I can easily see everything with the UMPC sitting on the table in front of me. I do a lot of web surfing and have adopted a method that works well for me. I rotate the screen to portrait orientation using the Intel Graphics utility. It has hot-keys configured for rotation (CTRL-ALT-ARROWS) and can rotate in all four orientations. The x70 is comfortable to hold in the hand this way, even for long periods, and web browsing using Firefox with the Grab and Drag add-on is a joy. The 1.3 MP webcam does a decent job with Skype, though that's the only thing I've done with it so far. It's a stretch to keep moving the X70 until the camera field of vision is in the correct place as it is on the far right of the device. Sound quality is pretty good for this. I enjoy listening to music through the stereo speakers; the volume is loud enough and it sounds pretty good for a small device. Listening through headphones is very nice and the included audio utility makes it easy to tailor the sound to the music playing. Reading e-books with eReader Pro in portrait is awesome. I can display a very full page and read to my heart's content and turn the page either by tapping on the lower part of the screen or even with the D-pad controller. I'm enjoying it so much that when I go back to the iPhone I'm not liking that device as much as I did before. The speed of the X70 is very fast, as I would expect from the SSD. Opening programs and folders is nearly instantaneous and it's a great computer on which to do even serious work. Rebooting the system is quick (I haven't timed it) and sleep/resume is just a few seconds. It's a very full computing environment with the keyboard and mouse, as evidenced by writing this right now. I don't feel I'm sacrificing anything -- the mark of a very good device. The X70 has integrated 3G. And I got a Month to Month , no binding contract data plan of 5GB per month for $60 from AT&T and am enjoying my X70EX mobile web browsing and have saved a lot of expensive hotel wireless internet cost as I travel a lot.

I ordered the Toshiba tablet pc stylus as a backup. I actually have a Lenovo Thinkpad tablet pc, which I like very much. I am a chemistry professor, and I use the tablet feature extensively in my teaching. The stylus which comes with it works fine, but I have misplaced it on some occasions and I wanted a back-up. As it turns out, the Toshiba is cheaper, so I thought that I would give it a try. It works perfectly, and there is an added bonus is that it is a little larger than the Lenovo, and I prefer the larger size when writing. Therefore, I use the Toshiba as my primary stylus, with my Lenovo as the back-up.

It's a good case, it holds the laptop when you aren't using it. Which is what a case is supposed to do. The quality of the material is fantastic, looks somewhat like a briefcase. It's by no means ' cheap ' in the quality of the materials it was made from. The only thing i don't like about it, is that it Doesn't open up all the way around, like some other cases. Bought this bag for myself insearch of a very basic and mostly lightweight bag to carry computer and a few papers. It is light, provides enough padding for small trips (car- home- office). The only thing that could be improved is the front flap is not really a pocket and hold very little in the direction it is positioned. This is a very nice laptop / tablet. The screen is bright and colorful. Includes a very good graphics card. There are digitizer and non-digitizer versions. The digitizer version has the touch screen capability. The non digitizer version does not. Both versions can rotate and fold down the screen and you can rotate the display to landscape, portrait in all directions. The non digitizer you can use a small portable mouse to navigate with the screen down and it is quite comfortable. You can use the touch screen to write with a stylus or use your finger to navigate with the digitizer version. They both have Lightscribe so you can label you cds or dvds when you burn them. They have a dvd burner. There are many things like the fingerprint reader that make this a cool tablet laptop. You can use your fingerprint to log in instead of typing in your password. That is handy if you are in an office or public environment and you don't want prying eyes to see you type your password which many of you tend to use the same one for your online activities. It includes a remote control for watching movies or doing a presentation. All in all if you are looking for a small screen laptop bigger than a netbook this is a great one to go with. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. Check out the other websites selling these and you will see they are popular and a great product. They sell a newer version right now at the major retailers, more expensive of coarse but just goes to show you that it is a good laptop.

First, I should say that, that one star I gave goes to customer service, NOT THE LAPTOP. Two of my friends and I bought it about the same time. It worked about one year. Then all three of us had major problem with motherboard, hard drive and LCD. It costs you about $500 to have it repaired. The motherboard in my case burnt, and I decided to just put it in trash instead of fixing that!!!!!

My computer shuts down while typing or working, even when plugged in, with absolutely no warning. It started just before the warranty expired, so I shipped it off for repair. After knocking over a 24oz. cup of coffee onto my desk, and nearly wiping out my brand new 15" Macbook Pro, I decided to give the mStand a try. The mStand is awesome; it's the perfect viewing height, well made, looks great, and most importantly keeps my MBP above the spill-zone. I found it difficult to type on my MBP while on the mStand, and ended up buying an external keyboard. As much as I didn't want to spend more $$$ on a keyboard, I think it's a small price to pay and would gladly sacrifice a $70 (Apple) keyboard over the MBP itself. The mStand I bought has the cut-out at the front which makes opening the display very easy (read: you don't have to lift the system.) Also, the round hole in the back is 1 1/4".

This is a solid, one-piece aluminum stand for just about any laptop, but goes especially well with aluminum macbooks. The only drawback is that it is not adjustable, but it is at a great height for standard desks. Be aware that the updated version is shaped to allow access to the latch on macbook pros. The older version requires lifting the computer to access the front latch. Check which version you are buying if it matters to you.

Just got it today and it is fabulous. After reading the reviews I saw that there was a common theme about the cable management hole being too small for DVI or VGA cables. Well just to let you all know that they have obviously listened and fixed it. The diameter of the hole is now just over 2 inches wide, so plenty big enough. Love it.

The Griffin elevator makes using a laptop computer on your desktop much more comfortable. It raises the laptop screen to eye level, it frees up desktop space for a separate keyboard and mouse, and it significantly increases airflow around your laptop, keeping it running nice and cool. The 3-piece construction is easy to assemble and portable.

I was concerned about buying this stand based on the reviews claiming that laptops were slipping right off of it. This seemed like a small risk to me considering where I intended to use it. This, coupled with the $20 savings over the mStand I was otherwise considering, led me to purchase in spite of my reservations. I'm glad I did, because I love it, and there has obviously been a redesign of arms on which the laptop sits. Like the previous reviewer noted, Griffin has added plastic caps to the ends of these arms. I have posted a customer image in case this is unclear. I highly recommend this stand; it is exactly what I was looking for.

The company has now added these little plastic stoppers/clips the will keep any Mac from slipping off. -----------Passes all CAT investigations. Perfect stand to go with your sexy Mac. THIS STAND IS DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRUST IT TO SUPPORT YOUR LAPTOP. This stand loses grip over time. A few nights ago, I watched (in slow motion horror accompanied by a classic muffled/panicked "nooooooooooo...." for added effect) as my macbook pro slid off the stand and onto my kitchen floor. The laptop was fully on the stand prior to sliding off. After that, the laptop wouldn't boot. I took my laptop to the Apple store to have it diagnosed. My hard drive was broken because of the fall. This was not all. I now have a big dent on my laptop and a ding in my kitchen floor. I called Griffin Technology to see what they could do for me. They said that since the stand was more than 2 months old that it was not a manufacturing defect and that they would be unable to cover the cost of the replacement hard drive and shell. The hard drive and new torx set cost over $120. I don't even want to guess how much a new macbook pro shell would cost me. It is concerning that Griffin believes that a $30+ stand which supports a multi-thousand dollar computer should only be stable for one to two months. I spent the next day dissembling my laptop, installing a new hard drive, attempting to bend my laptop shell back into shape, reassembling my laptop, restoring OS-X and the environment that I had on the computer. I should have trusted my first instinct to not buy products from Griffin.

I work with my laptop on a stationary desk and my laptop is constantly slipping off of it. The entirety of the product is smooth so the lifts don't grip the laptop and the bottom is subject to slide around on the desk. Honestly, it turned out to be a waste of my money because every few minutes, I had to adjust the computer and reposition it on the pad. It's also pretty cheaply made. $10 turned out to be too much for it. Before I got this product, I elevated my laptop using a sharpie and it actually worked a lot better than this.

Since my laptop was getting older and the battery started to die faster, it also heated up a lot faster since it is plugged in more. I was looking around at cheap cooling options and came across this. Turns out this does its job well simply by raising the laptop and putting space underneath. It is a great and cheap option of the more expensive cooling methods for laptops. It's fairly sturdy, but not really meant to sit on your lap like some other coolers. I got one for myself for when I work at home and took it to my mom's when I went to visit. She stole it and wouldn't let me take it home so I got another one. Then I bought my best friend one when she got her new laptop. The desk is wide enough for my large 19" laptop and an external mouse although there isn't a lot of spare room. When I use my much smaller work computer it is PERFECT. Really helps keep your legs from getting hot and I even use it to eat meals and write on when I need it. The bottom pad is detachable and my one tiny complaint would be that if you don't put it back on right the Velcro bits poke you if you're legs are bare. That's easy enough to fix so not worth a downgrade. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a reasonably priced nice looking lap desk.

This is smaller than I thought it would be. I bought this as a gift because I love the one I have. This one doesn't have much space to use a mouse.

I like that this stand gets my screen up to an ergonomic level, which was the main thing I was looking for. However, I chose this particular model based on the design plus the fact that it has a USB hub. The hub has been very disappointing for two reasons. First, as soon as I plugged in mouse and keyboard, I started getting messages that my accessories would run faster with a high-speed USB connection. There was no indication in the ad about speed. Second, when I first plugged in keyboard and mouse, they worked fine. After I shutdown the laptop and then turned it on again, they didn't work. I checked the connections and they were fine, so I unplugged both and plugged them in again and they worked. This happened several times, so I just gave up on the USB hub, which is a pain because I have more items than connections on the laptop, and also don't want to be plugging and unplugging all the time. I will be buying an external USB hub soon. The stand itself is pretty good, very stable and seems quite sturdy.

I love this adjustable laptop stand. It is lightweight and easy to use. I own another stand, which I purchased for my kid's laptop a while back. I liked it, and was plannig to buy the same model for my new laptop. Then I saw this one, which had the added benefit of 4 USB ports, for the same price. The extra ports have been helpful. Super cheap construction, the pictures don't show just how low quality construction. The adjustment knob (mine came broken) is easily broken. The lip holding the laptop interferes with any hope for direct keyboard typing or trackpad use (sometimes you need this). In addition to a non-powered USB hub makes this product one to pass on. I just got this the other day and wanted to add some information to my review which I did not find when evaluating the product. First, the stand is very sturdy and fits my 14" screen laptop as well as my 16" screen laptop with no problem. There are a couple of pads in the area where the laptop rests which keep the laptop from slipping around. Second, the stand has a 4-port attached USB 2.0 hub and comes with a cable to connect the hub to an open USB port on your laptop. The placement of the USB hub on the back of the stand works well for me because I have a keyboard/mouse controller, 2 printers and and a VOIP headset and the wires stay out of the way now. As far as the USB hub not coming with a power cord, that is true. However, this is fairly common as most USB hubs are bus powered. As I said, what comes in the box works perfectly for me. Finally, it comes completely assembled out of the box. I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for this kind of stand.

I like this laptop stand but its mainly to be used on a hard flat surface, I used it one time when I was cooking and looking at the recipe online and this elevated my laptop high enough if I spill something it wont get my PC wet(I rarely used mine). I am using this with a VAIO VGN-AW390 model notebook which has an 18.4" screen. The manufacturer rates this as good for 17" notebooks and I would suggest that's a pretty good assessment. I am able to use this for my machine, but just barely. When the screen is open the center of gravity is pretty far back; a bit close to where it would tip over backwards. My stand is located in a spot where the only person that might knock it over is myself, so I don't have to worry about someone bumping it by accident and tipping it over backward. I probably wouldn't put anything over a 17" laptop on this if it were to be in a high traffic area or in any other stability-challenged setting. 2. Several reviews mentioned the front lip blocking access to the front of the laptop. Mine came with a catch where I can slide the catch to the side and the front lip drops down to allow temporary access to the front of the laptop. Would definitely recommend it.

I just bought a new laptop and it was getting a bit warm when being placed on my lap. Guess it was due to restricted airflow. So, I was looking for something other than a cooling pad with fans (noisy or not). After looking at the reviews here, I purchased the Belkin Cushtop. I received it today and it's quite good. Ergonomically, it places the laptop in a very comfortable position for couch computing. My new laptop no longer feels warm underneath and my lap is cool; that may be due to the CushTop material which appears to help dissipate heat. Also, the computer is very stable on the pad and doesn't move around at all. Nice build quality and a great value, particularly in view of its more expensive competition. I purchased this laptop pad hoping that it would help keep my frequently overheating notebook computer cool. Unfortunately, it has not done so; I find that the pad works well for comfort and ergonomics, but not so much for allowing air to circulate underneath the computer. Perhaps this is due to the pad being too soft. I still use the pad for my laptop, but I try not to use it for long periods of time. I am thinking about purchasing a pad with a hard surface.

My boyfriend and I each have this item in brown/tourmaline. We've had them for several months. I love the color scheme -- it's stylish and matches my stuff now, but since it's mostly brown, it's neutral enough to blend in with other palettes. I have a 13" Macbook, and I like to sit cross-legged with the pad big-side-up. It rests nicely on my knees that way, with enough space for a small mousing surface next to the laptop. When I'm done, I tuck the laptop inside the pillow to keep my dumb cats from sitting on it. (Nota bene: This only works for slim computers. My little 10" Acer netbook has a fat battery and barely fits.) My boyfriend has a 14" Compaq that only has fans on the bottom. (Honestly, who designs stuff that way?) It crashes if he leaves it on an upholstered surface or bed, but seems to stay much cooler on the CushTop surface. It's pretty clear-cut: CushTop = no heat crash. I plan to buy the same model if one of ours wears out.

Bought two of these as Christmas presents for two of my daughters for their lap tops. They loved them! The Altos is a good design but poorly executed. It isn't worth the money. First problem is the stand. Unless your notebook opens way beyond 90 degrees the display will not be vertical and therefore difficult to read. My new Acer Aspire display siting on the Altos stand tilts toward me even though it is at max tilt backward. There is no provision on the Altos for correcting this. Second problem is the keyboard. It is old fashioned, noisy, clicker keyboard. All my notebooks have silent keys. Why Logitech opted for a noisy keyboard is unknown but it makes lots of noise. So the idea is good, engineering is poor, and execution is poor. One would be better off purchasing a cordless keyboard and mouse and not getting the useless Altos stand.

The Logitech Alto Cordless Notebook Stand was just what I was looking for - something compact, easy to use and store. Had no trouble setting it up and was actually able to fold it up and get it back in the box to store it. About the only thing that would have made this better is if it folded up small enough to be stored in my laptop case - it is a bit too long to do that so it has to be carried separately. I bought this because I was using a large Microsoft keyboard with my laptop that constantly gave me trouble. It would work half the time and fail the rest. Plus, it was inconvenient. It was ergonomically well-made, however. I miss that with this unit. I feel my fingers and hands are cramped -- even though it's a full-sized keyboard. Also on the negative side, you can't get to the front of the laptop. I have my microphone and sound card on the front and would like to use it. But, I can't using this unit. Also, the instructions are not well-written. Not that you need many instructions but there is a right way to install things. On the positive side, it pretty much works right out of the box. Be sure to turn the laptop off first. Install the USB cable into your laptop and then insert anything else you need after that. My unit started right off. Has a nice feature. Hit a certain key and up pops a neat, handy calculator. It has a nice keyboard except I'd prefer an ergonomic one. Has the calculator keys, Internet keys, etc. The unit is built solidly. You can feel the quality. The stand is heavy for a reason --- it is designed to protect your laptop. So that's a plus. The keyboard is light and easily managed. When not in use, just set it aside. At least in my opinion, the unit makes the laptop sit far too high to be comfortable or easy-on-the-eyes or in any way ergonomic. I just lay my laptop on top of the unit, flat. It's too short in that case so I have to reinforce the back end of the laptop. I can see no way to make this unit useful in any other way. So now I have a keyboard that I can depend on. By the way, the stand has several handy USB ports, which adds lots of function. I rate it close to five stars except, that at least to me, the keyboard is a bit cramped. Also, you have to adjust the height and distance of the laptop so it suits your field of vision and comfort. Not as easy as it sounds. I bought this stand for my monitor, with the intention of putting my laptop beneath. I works great for this. My Macbook is a 13 in (space beneath is ~14'' (btwn the legs) by 10''--in case you're wondering; but your laptop could always stick out a little in front or behind). Some reviewers didn't like the color; it's not silver, more of a grey-olivey color, but it doesn't look bad by any means. (I think it just depends upon what you're expecting.) It's very stable, doesn't move or wiggle around, even if I bump my desk (which I do often). I like it very much and would recommend it to others. My computer gets plenty of circulation. Plus you can't beat the price.

I got this as a stand for my PS2 Slim. I was worried about generated heat and this metal stand makes a great heat sink. It's even got holes in it that add even more ventilation. I now have room to store my controllers under the system so as a space saver alone it was worth the nominal price. This is the cheapest monitor stand of reasonable quality I have found. It would also make a very nice stand with passive cooling for your laptop, if you were typing on a coffee table that's lower than the couch you're sitting on. Set on a normal desk, its height would be a bit cumbersome to type on, unless you hooked up an external keyboard. Be clear, this *will not* support much weight. The whole missing front support is a design is flaw in my opinion. However, if you're using it for something light it's great. The color isn't as nice looking as the picture would lead you to believe, but I really don't care.

The fans on this thing do not work very well, they help but I have had to lower the brightness on my monitor to keep my lappy from over heating. I really like the angle the laptop sits on, the lip is good and the rubber keeps the laptop in place, the hub was a nice bonus that works well. As for the reviews about how loud it is.... it is about the same as every other cooling pad, not bad at all really, my ups puts out much much more noise, so compared to that, this is super quiet. Again the only bad thing I have to say is the fans are just not powerful enough, or even if they had made them bigger or added a few vent holes to the back I am sure it would work 100% better, unfortunately there is not much to this thing, I like the angle do not like the fans, that leaves this a 2.5 out of 5 rating...

Don't let the bad reviews keep you from buying this product. I had no such problems with this item. I really like how the stand is adjustable. I never typed with my laptop placed at an angle and it feels great. The fan, I wouldn't say is very quiet, but it is not distracting. It sounds like those mini fans you place on a work desk. I noticed a difference how my laptop doesn't get as hot as it did without it. The extra USB ports and on/off switch is definitely and added bonus. It doesn't wobble at all. One minor thing I noticed was when I opened my laptop when the stand is set on the flat position is the laptop slid to the side, but I fixed that by placed rubber adhesive tabs towards the top of the stand. Maybe I got a fluke, but Sony's so-called "full laptop" computer in an 8" form factor is like trying to run Vista on your mom's old P3. Seriously, this thing absolutely crawls. All this would be acceptable were it not for the very mediocre battery life (forget 4 hours, I couldn't even manage 2 with moderately heavy use), when any other netbook (that's right, netbook) for well under half the price outperforms it in battery life AND performance. Ironic; the 1.33Ghz processor really is a step down from the 1.66Ghz Atoms in netbooks, despite what I've been told to the contrary about the different "architecture." But that's just on the hardware front. It powers on fast enough, but right from the get-go you're slammed with loads of bloatware and tons of programs that are slow to load into memory, one after the other (that's right, it's not even a dual core). These can be uninstalled--though not cleanly, as they leave some registry junk data behind. But there's little that can be done about yet another software-related problem: drivers. The video driver on here is one of the worst experiences I've had to date with video displays. HD video was an absolute disaster, even though the chipset (google "Poulsbo" or GMA500) claims it to be able to decode 720p HD video. So when I tried to play a simple HQ youtube vid (not even HD) and met with stuttering far worse than my friend's Asus Eee PC, which cost about 350, I was understandably upset. As for the faster disk drive with the SSD, this may be true. But when you can't run even basic productivity apps at full speed, any HD speed increase was unnoticeable. My Eee for instance has a conventional "slow" HD but gets the job done (except for copying files) much more quickly. A lot of this might be Vista's fault. But before you think of downgrading to the faster, lighter XP, let me warn you--you'll have even more issues with Sony's drivers. Linux? Forget about it; Intel's Poulsbo drivers are in a pitiful state there too. When the most appealing attribute of the system--the hi-res screen, mind you--is nearly unusable with any other options, one can't help but feel a bit ripped off. The webcam's quality isn't very good (the Eee wins again), and the WWan (mobile broadband) is locked to Verizon, so don't think about other companies unless you "unlock" the chip: more time and trouble. The wireless-N support is supposed to be great, but it was dodgy on my home network (maybe it was just my unit or config...or vista, but again, my other devices worked fine). They keyboard and ergonomics are fine, but again, the only good words for this unit, for this price, are surface-deep. Parting advice: the reviews on this "Lifestyle PC" are low for good reason. I really wish I'd seen Amazon's reviews earlier. (This unit wasn't from Amazon but from Sony themselves).

These machines are great looking and compact. Somewhat slow with Vista and 2gig of ram but a lot of good features such as wifi, bluetooth and the screen is just plain awesome. The keyboard is a chiclet style which makes typing a bit easier and the mouse is the pointing stick. I use to like the pointing stick when IBM used them in their Thinkpads so it's no big deal to me. I like this unit much more than any netbook I've owned and I've owned a few. The price is somewhat steep if you pay retail but I bought mine for 435 bucks so I'm not disappointed in the price. For listening to music, watching video, checking email, contact book, writing occasional documents, cruising the in internet with a compact and pretty machine then you might like this unit. I love mine. You need good eyeballs because the print is very small but clear.

I purchased this computer in March 2009. First of all, it's over priced, you should get at least 120gb hard drive! Half the space is already gone before it's delivered to your door. The screen is pretty small, it's really hard to read at times, you can increase the screen size on Windows Explorer but that makes it hard to navigate through the pages. Secondly, I can never use it for an extended amount of time because it freezes. I have to shut it down and reboot ! I haven't loaded anything on it because there isn't room so I'm not taking up any space. It also crashes and reboots on its own, I'll get some kind of crazy blue screen. Also, regardless of where I am, when I'm using the internet, it decides to disconnect or give me a limited connectivity messages. Lastly and worst of all, the screen cracked! Not sure if the dog or one of the kids stepped on it but I opened the screen and it looks cracked with broken pixels. Called Sony, because I figured it would still be under warranty and was told it's not covered! Had the same thing happen with my Dell computer and they fixed it with no problem, no questions asked! Then, these people at Sony had the nerve to tell me that a new screen would cost around $600!!! That's over half of what I paid for this piece of garbage! Oh well, you live and learn. Don't buy anything because it's "CUTE". That's really the only reason I did. I guess I'll buy one of those $400 netbooks!

The packaging is beautiful and the size is wonderful. The battery life is simply not good enough to make the product useful to me. Booting the machine is painfully slow. It takes something like 5 minutes for a complete boot. If you want to tinker with registry and stuff maybe this could be reduced a bit. What I want is a PC that acts like a cell phone: you open the cover and it is ready to go. 5 minute boot is not acceptable in that scenario. You can avoid the boot by making the system sleep/hibernate when you close the lid. It takes less that a minute for it to wake up, and I could live with this, except the system consume significant energy when it is asleep. If I close the lid (and put the machine to sleep) on a full battery, it will not make it through the day asleep. If you use it for a half hour, you have reduced the sleep time quite a bit (a couple of hours). I am sure Sony has a list of tips for extending battery life, but I don't want to become a laptop energy expert. My guess is that people who give powerpoint presentations would love this, also people who fly a lot. It would be great for them because it is so small and light and the battery life wouldn't matter because in both these situations you could plug it in. I'm curious if replacing the hard drive with a flash drive would help. Also, maybe a faster hard drive would make the boot quicker. Windows 7 might help. Maybe running Linux would help the boot time too. I've toyed with getting the extended battery, but the thought of spending another $100 after the original $999 is not very attractive. I'm seriously wondering if I can find someone who would trade a Kindel DX for the Sony.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Sony laptops and notebooks. I have been a SONY fan for ages, but this time they let me down to the extent that I'll never buy Sony again. I bought a Sony Vaio VGN FZ series and after 15 months the motherboard completely broke. It just shut off with no warning and I tried to get help from Sony but they have the worst techinical support in the USA; the only thing they do (after waiting several minutes on the phone for someone to take your call) is say "I am sorry for your inconvenience" or "send your laptop to the Service Center". I live in Virginia and their proposal was me to send the laptop to San Diego, CA!!!!! and I would have to run with all costs (including shipping) plus they told tha it would be more than 500 dollars to repair a laptop that costs 980 dollars brand new!!!! I just gave up and wiil be definitely getting a new one; however, this time I am going to go for a Dell or HP because now I realize the importance of a good technical support.

Maybe I got a fluke, but Sony's so-called "full laptop" computer in an 8" form factor is like trying to run Vista on your mom's old P3. Seriously, this thing absolutely crawls. All this would be acceptable were it not for the very mediocre battery life (forget 4 hours, I couldn't even manage 2 with moderately heavy use), when any other netbook (that's right, netbook) for well under half the price outperforms it in battery life AND performance. Ironic; the 1.33Ghz processor really is a step down from the 1.66Ghz Atoms in netbooks, despite what I've been told to the contrary about the different "architecture." But that's just on the hardware front. It powers on fast enough, but right from the get-go you're slammed with loads of bloatware and tons of programs that are slow to load into memory, one after the other (that's right, it's not even a dual core). These can be uninstalled--though not cleanly, as they leave some registry junk data behind. But there's little that can be done about yet another software-related problem: drivers. The video driver on here is one of the worst experiences I've had to date with video displays. HD video was an absolute disaster, even though the chipset (google "Poulsbo" or GMA500) claims it to be able to decode 720p HD video. So when I tried to play a simple HQ youtube vid (not even HD) and met with stuttering far worse than my friend's Asus Eee PC, which cost about 350, I was understandably upset. As for the faster disk drive with the SSD, this may be true. But when you can't run even basic productivity apps at full speed, any HD speed increase was unnoticeable. My Eee for instance has a conventional "slow" HD but gets the job done (except for copying files) much more quickly. A lot of this might be Vista's fault. But before you think of downgrading to the faster, lighter XP, let me warn you--you'll have even more issues with Sony's drivers. Linux? Forget about it; Intel's Poulsbo drivers are in a pitiful state there too. When the most appealing attribute of the system--the hi-res screen, mind you--is nearly unusable with any other options, one can't help but feel a bit ripped off. The webcam's quality isn't very good (the Eee wins again), and the WWan (mobile broadband) is locked to Verizon, so don't think about other companies unless you "unlock" the chip: more time and trouble. The wireless-N support is supposed to be great, but it was dodgy on my home network (maybe it was just my unit or config...or vista, but again, my other devices worked fine). They keyboard and ergonomics are fine, but again, the only good words for this unit, for this price, are surface-deep. Parting advice: the reviews on this "Lifestyle PC" are low for good reason. I really wish I'd seen Amazon's reviews earlier. (This unit wasn't from Amazon but from Sony themselves).

I have a 11.6 Acer netbook I needed to put a program on it but had no CD dock, With the exterior CD Driver the netbook worked like a normal laptop. Worked great with no problems, I would recommend it to anyone that has a netbook.

I give this device good marks on all except 2 items. One is the DVD SPeed is only 8X. Second, since there are absolutely NO instructions (or paperwork of any kind) in the box, you have to go to [...] to figure out what you need and how to work the Lightscribe aspects. You need 2 software programs. One for the lightscribe directly and the other disc labeling software can be free or included w/some Burner programs. BUt, for the money, it is worth every penny. Paying two or 3 times the price for a faster (more documented) device, is only a luxury. And not really necessary unless you plan on doing A LOT of DVD burning. I will be using it mostly to back up my netbook and occassional copying for music discs, etc. Basically, very happy with this purchase.

Initially there was a delay in delivery of my external drive due to supplier sending to the wrong address. after emailing the supplier, this was corrected and i received my external drive a week later. It works just fine I have been able to burn DVDs and CD without any problems. It works great!!

Maybe I got a fluke, but Sony's so-called "full laptop" computer in an 8" form factor is like trying to run Vista on your mom's old P3. Seriously, this thing absolutely crawls. All this would be acceptable were it not for the very mediocre battery life (forget 4 hours, I couldn't even manage 2 with moderately heavy use), when any other netbook (that's right, netbook) for well under half the price outperforms it in battery life AND performance. Ironic; the 1.33Ghz processor really is a step down from the 1.66Ghz Atoms in netbooks, despite what I've been told to the contrary about the different "architecture." But that's just on the hardware front. It powers on fast enough, but right from the get-go you're slammed with loads of bloatware and tons of programs that are slow to load into memory, one after the other (that's right, it's not even a dual core). These can be uninstalled--though not cleanly, as they leave some registry junk data behind. But there's little that can be done about yet another software-related problem: drivers. The video driver on here is one of the worst experiences I've had to date with video displays. HD video was an absolute disaster, even though the chipset (google "Poulsbo" or GMA500) claims it to be able to decode 720p HD video. So when I tried to play a simple HQ youtube vid (not even HD) and met with stuttering far worse than my friend's Asus Eee PC, which cost about 350, I was understandably upset. As for the faster disk drive with the SSD, this may be true. But when you can't run even basic productivity apps at full speed, any HD speed increase was unnoticeable. My Eee for instance has a conventional "slow" HD but gets the job done (except for copying files) much more quickly. A lot of this might be Vista's fault. But before you think of downgrading to the faster, lighter XP, let me warn you--you'll have even more issues with Sony's drivers. Linux? Forget about it; Intel's Poulsbo drivers are in a pitiful state there too. When the most appealing attribute of the system--the hi-res screen, mind you--is nearly unusable with any other options, one can't help but feel a bit ripped off. The webcam's quality isn't very good (the Eee wins again), and the WWan (mobile broadband) is locked to Verizon, so don't think about other companies unless you "unlock" the chip: more time and trouble. The wireless-N support is supposed to be great, but it was dodgy on my home network (maybe it was just my unit or config...or vista, but again, my other devices worked fine). They keyboard and ergonomics are fine, but again, the only good words for this unit, for this price, are surface-deep. Parting advice: the reviews on this "Lifestyle PC" are low for good reason. I really wish I'd seen Amazon's reviews earlier. (This unit wasn't from Amazon but from Sony themselves).

I really wanted to love this little speaker. The design is small, unintrusive, smart lookin' and very handy. The "flex" cord is firm & pose-able, which is really helpful, but the sound is not good. Distortion! Try listening to Joanna Newsom play the harp at a mid-range volume and that distortion is an insult. First I bought the Triton usb laptop speaker (the one that looks like a white hockey puck), and i love it. Amazing sound, but the short cord was a hassle when moving my laptop from my desk to my bedside table. Ultimately, I'd fumble and drop the thing. After a year, the cord broke. I was sad, so i decided to get the b-flex because of the firm cord. If the b-flex was my only experience in external speakers, i'd probably settle. But when the music is turned up loud, it becomes very muffled and tin canny. So I'm going to return it. I might just get another Triton, or I might keep looking. The b-flex is totally fine for increasing your volume for movies, but if you wanna rock out to music then just get the Triton external speaker.

This product is compact, easy to use and a must have if your laptop has low speaker output. I have a Lenovo laptop and the highest volume was quieter than the lowest output using this speaker system. These machines are great looking and compact. Somewhat slow with Vista and 2gig of ram but a lot of good features such as wifi, bluetooth and the screen is just plain awesome. The keyboard is a chiclet style which makes typing a bit easier and the mouse is the pointing stick. I use to like the pointing stick when IBM used them in their Thinkpads so it's no big deal to me. I like this unit much more than any netbook I've owned and I've owned a few. The price is somewhat steep if you pay retail but I bought mine for 435 bucks so I'm not disappointed in the price. For listening to music, watching video, checking email, contact book, writing occasional documents, cruising the in internet with a compact and pretty machine then you might like this unit. I love mine. You need good eyeballs because the print is very small but clear.

I purchased this computer in March 2009. First of all, it's over priced, you should get at least 120gb hard drive! Half the space is already gone before it's delivered to your door. The screen is pretty small, it's really hard to read at times, you can increase the screen size on Windows Explorer but that makes it hard to navigate through the pages. Secondly, I can never use it for an extended amount of time because it freezes. I have to shut it down and reboot ! I haven't loaded anything on it because there isn't room so I'm not taking up any space. It also crashes and reboots on its own, I'll get some kind of crazy blue screen. Also, regardless of where I am, when I'm using the internet, it decides to disconnect or give me a limited connectivity messages. Lastly and worst of all, the screen cracked! Not sure if the dog or one of the kids stepped on it but I opened the screen and it looks cracked with broken pixels. Called Sony, because I figured it would still be under warranty and was told it's not covered! Had the same thing happen with my Dell computer and they fixed it with no problem, no questions asked! Then, these people at Sony had the nerve to tell me that a new screen would cost around $600!!! That's over half of what I paid for this piece of garbage! Oh well, you live and learn. Don't buy anything because it's "CUTE". That's really the only reason I did. I guess I'll buy one of those $400 netbooks!

The packaging is beautiful and the size is wonderful. The battery life is simply not good enough to make the product useful to me. Booting the machine is painfully slow. It takes something like 5 minutes for a complete boot. If you want to tinker with registry and stuff maybe this could be reduced a bit. What I want is a PC that acts like a cell phone: you open the cover and it is ready to go. 5 minute boot is not acceptable in that scenario. You can avoid the boot by making the system sleep/hibernate when you close the lid. It takes less that a minute for it to wake up, and I could live with this, except the system consume significant energy when it is asleep. If I close the lid (and put the machine to sleep) on a full battery, it will not make it through the day asleep. If you use it for a half hour, you have reduced the sleep time quite a bit (a couple of hours). I am sure Sony has a list of tips for extending battery life, but I don't want to become a laptop energy expert. My guess is that people who give powerpoint presentations would love this, also people who fly a lot. It would be great for them because it is so small and light and the battery life wouldn't matter because in both these situations you could plug it in. I'm curious if replacing the hard drive with a flash drive would help. Also, maybe a faster hard drive would make the boot quicker. Windows 7 might help. Maybe running Linux would help the boot time too. I've toyed with getting the extended battery, but the thought of spending another $100 after the original $999 is not very attractive. I'm seriously wondering if I can find someone who would trade a Kindel DX for the Sony.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Sony laptops and notebooks. I have been a SONY fan for ages, but this time they let me down to the extent that I'll never buy Sony again. I bought a Sony Vaio VGN FZ series and after 15 months the motherboard completely broke. It just shut off with no warning and I tried to get help from Sony but they have the worst techinical support in the USA; the only thing they do (after waiting several minutes on the phone for someone to take your call) is say "I am sorry for your inconvenience" or "send your laptop to the Service Center". I live in Virginia and their proposal was me to send the laptop to San Diego, CA!!!!! and I would have to run with all costs (including shipping) plus they told tha it would be more than 500 dollars to repair a laptop that costs 980 dollars brand new!!!! I just gave up and wiil be definitely getting a new one; however, this time I am going to go for a Dell or HP because now I realize the importance of a good technical support.

Having petite hands, it's always been hard to find a mouse that fit my hand. Finally I've found one!! I didn't buy from Amazon.com but found it thru another retailer and at a great (really an unbelievable price) price to boot! It fits my petite hand perfectly. Though it says it's designed for notebooks and lap-top computers, I use it with my desk top computer. I'd highly recommend it for a small/petite hand. Normal mouses are too big and bulky for me and are too heavy to properly or easily use with a petite hand. If you have a small hand, don't want a mouse to be big, bulky and heavy, then this is the mouse for you! I love that the mouse turns itself off so that it extends the battery life. All in all, I absolutely love this mouse and the red color certainly doesn't hurt since it's my favorite color! I'll buy just about anything red, but it also has to be functional and a smart buy! This little mouse sure was that and much more.

The USB extended plug (black) will not work. The mouse eats batteries like a kid eats candy - probably faster. I have had the mouse for approximately a month and I have had to replace the batteries four times. I replaced them less than a week ago and they just went out again today. I don't use the mouse that often - always put the USB plug (red) in the mouse which is supposed to save battery power and I get less than 2 hours of use out of 2 batteries with the mouse. I use Duracell and Energizer batteries so it isn't off brand batteries, it is the mouse. Don't count on the great price - this is not any bargain when you add the cost of batteries that need to be constantly replaced.

A pretty good mouse that totally lacks instructions, whether in the box or at the mfrs. web site. Thanks to others at this site I got it to work and will try to collect what all have said. First, you have to insert two AAA batteries to make it wireless - pull the rear upper cover straight back - look for some grip indentations on the part - and insert the batteries. Second, to turn off the mouse and save the batteries, insert the USB receiver into the mouse's 'trap' door. Press the button on top of the mouse (to the rear of the wheel) to release the USB receiver. To synchronize the mouse and its receiver you must simultaneously press the black button on the mouse's underside and the silvery dimple on the USB receiver, (USB must be plugged in, of course). I believe you just have to hold both down for a second or so and then wait for the two units to find each other; (this worked for me but I can't swear that it will work for you - you might have to keep one or the other or both buttons depressed until you find that they have sync'ed.) After I got them sync'ed they stayed sync'ed, even with the mouse turned off. (Removing the batteries, on the other hand, requires a re-synch.) The manufacturer doesn't include any sort of setup disk - unfortunate because, at least on my XP Home netbook, the built-in mouse control panel doesn't allow me to define what a button press of the mouse wheel will do - it could be defined as, e.g., a double click or a magnify or ... Perhaps downloading the Microsoft Intellimouse setup disk or Logitech equivalent will enable me to define what a wheel depression will do. I've only had the mouse for a few days so can't speak to durability or how long the batteries will last. I give it four stars because it's so cheap. On an absolute scale, if price didn't matter, I'd give it three.

I got this for my laptop running Vista (I hate using the touch pad - too cumbersome and inefficient). It was immediately recognized and functional on plug-in, and continues to be so every time I reconnect it. The wireless has been flawless from as far as 3 feet away - no lag or stuttering. I found this back pack very convenient to use and fit my 17" HP G70 laptop in. Other than that the corners of the laptop are not protected when placed in the backpack, I have no complaint about the assured safety of my laptop from Samsonite. I have had this backpack since 2004 and am still using it every day. I have used this backpack for traveling, as well as for carrying my computer around campus. It is big enough to hold a 17 inch laptop, with lots of other crap stuffed in there too. The zippers on this bag are surprisingly sturdy. One of the main track zippers finally failed after about 4 years, and the other one is on its way out now too. However, I've still yet to tear the fabric of the bag, even after years of heavy use. This bag has accompanied me on many trips across the country as well as a 3 month field study in the jungles of Costa Rica. I love this bag, and will probably get another one when the last zipper finally fails (hopefully I'll get another year out of it, which will make it 5 years old).

I am very pleased with this backpack. It fits my 17" widescreen laptop with room to spare. It appears to be a very wellmade product although I have not had it long enough to give it a durability rating. The shoulder straps and back have ample padding. I have not decided if I like the rubber covered handle yet but I think it will be sufficient. The side elastic net pouches hold 16oz water bottles or similar containers nicely. My own personal negative mark on this product would be the amount of different compartments. There are so many of them! There are so many different areas to stash things I have to search in several different places before I find what I am looking for. Oh, well. I am sure in time I will get used to all the little nooks and crannies of this lovely backpack. Oh yeah, while the laptop is not in the bag, and you have filled up all those front compartments, the bag becomes 'front heavy' and won't stand upright when leaned up against something. Not the end of the world though, I just turn the bag around and butt the front of the bag up against the wall and it sits upright rather obediently. I really love that the overall appearance of this backpack does not scream out "Hey, there is a laptop in here, come and steal me!". I have never been comfortable housing my laptop in a bag labeled with a very bold name tag like 'Targus' or 'Case Logic'. The bag makes it very obvious that there is a computer or other electronic device in the bag. That calls the attention of would be thieves and who needs that? I travel with my laptop through major international airports several times a year. First off, the color of this bag is not light gray. I just received my Sling I and it is the same color as the Sling II, very dark, steel metallic gray. Second, it BARELY holds a 13" laptap, and with a my laptop inside, I have room for ONE book for school..that is it. It does not expand much and the padding for the laptop takes up a lot of the space in the bag. It is completely non functional for college. As a laptop bag alone, I can see it being adequate, but as a messenger bag..well..you can't really messenger much. Third complaint, the pockets for extra storage are very awkwardly placed and hard to access. 4th, the water bottle compartment on the side is ridiculous. It is shaped like a V which tends to "squeeze" the water bottle out and on to the ground if you jolt the bag or tip it side ways at all. Ahhhh...what a waste of shipping cost!! Oh..one pro...it is very comfortable when on the shoulder, even with the weight of my lap top in it and the one book it held. It didn't slide off either, like many sling bags tend to do.

I have used this backpack for several years while traveling extensively. It is very well organized, durably constructed, cleverly designed, a practical size, quite light and looks great. The nylon material from which it is made is very tough. The only downsides that I can come up with are that the shoulder straps may be slightly too wide for some people and, after years of shoving into aircraft overhead bins and under seats, it is beginning to fray a little on the shoulder straps. I like the looks and have had a number of people comment on the attractive design. The well-positioned padded handle on top is comfortable and the padded laptop sleeve easily accommodates my 15 inch Macbook Pro. There was one person who thought it was a parachute, but I suspect they had their own mortality and the vicissitudes of air travel on their mind at the time. Overall, this is an excellent backpack, up there with the very best. I usually buy Victorinox luggage, this is as good or better than any of their backpacks, and certainly looks more attractive.

I am terribly hard on bags, I travel and do network and computer repair. I drag this thing up and down concrete steps banging the crap out of it. Overstuff it with tools boxes with sharp corners and everything. Bought this for my spouse, who travels by plane at least 2-3 weeks a month. She says it the best case she's ever had, with its only weakness being the extensible handle. Compared to other bags she's had, the handle on this one doesn't feel quite as robust, as if the fit between the sections is loose, making it more flexible than one might desire. This is a very sturdy case with substantial wheels and front "feet" so it stands firm and does not tip over when filled. It easily holds my 17" laptop plus a LOT of files and papers. There's plenty of room for the laptop cord, cordless mouse, calculator, pens, date book, note pads, and any other accessories you need. There are 4 separate zippered compartments: (1) the main one which opens widely for easy access (has a separate area for laptop which then closes with velcro strap to keep it safe) and is quite large for files and 2 large pockets for cord, mouse, etc. (2) a large divided compartment for file folders, books, etc. (3) another compartment for files with pockets for accessories, pens, credit cards, note pads, etc. and (4) a large front zippered area for your plane tickets, book, wallet, etc. If you don't have many files, the main compartment could hold a change of underwear and toiletries and bottled water, snacks, etc. This case should probably not be designated as an "overnight bag" unless you have nothing else in it except the laptop. It is very substantially made with a long telescoping handle which tucks away smartly inside a zippered opening. It also has 2 strong carrying handles to carry onto the plane. If you travel a lot, this is definitely a great bag which fits easily into the overhead. Couple this with a small overnight bag to tuck under the seat, and you won't have to stand in line (or pay a fee) for checked luggage.

A well designed sturdy case. Although not described anywhere the outside is a reinforced durable black fabric heavy duty zippers,and is good looking. It has a generous amount of storage capacity not only for a laptop but for other goods or a small change of clothes and a bathroom kit for an overnight stay. The only improvement would be to have the fabric a bit more water repellent, but you can take care of that yourself with some Scotchguard.

I bought this because I needed a new case for my Alienware M17x laptop which is a pretty heavy duty machine and has a large 17" screen. I compared this case to many others cases (Targus, Samsonite, etc) and found this one to be the lightest and have the most friendly design. My laptop fits perfectly into the security-friendly case and they've made it very easy to take in and out when passing trough airport security. Your laptop stays protected and you don't have to risk scratching it when its coming in and out of the case. Overall, I was sketchy at first because Case Logic is not known as a top manufacturer of laptop cases but I love the fact that it is very simple and elegant design, and it doesn't have any extra unnecessary space around the sides and the top like the Targus 17" rolling case. My 17" laptop fits tight which is how I like it because let's face it, the laptop and the case are already pretty big, why would you want extra space around the sides? I don't get it.

As one other reviewer mentioned, most (if not all) the reviews on here are for a completely different item, a giant backpack that has little in common with the Targus TXL417 17 XL Notebook Case other than a similar looking model number. Not sure why this happened, as it is very misleading. Anyway, on to the review. I had received a Samsonite leather case as a gift a few years ago, however, the piece that connects the shoulder strap to the bag had almost completely worn away. So, I wanted a new bag that could hold either my 15" dell laptop for work or my 17" hp personal laptop, along with accessories, books, etc, and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars. This case has a lot of space for your laptop. It's nice and padded, and actually has so much room I could probably fit both my laptops in there at the same time. Technically that's not something you want to try, but that's how much space there is in there. I can easily fit my laptop, power supply, wireless mouse, ipod, headphones and a host of other accessories. I spend a lot of time at work and have a mini-pharmacy in my bag, plus lots of papers and whatever book I'm currently reading. This guy carries it all, and the best part is it's really light- when I had that much stuff in my Samsonite leather case, it felt like I was carrying a small child on my shoulder. Not anymore. This case is made of nylon, and to be quite honest, it isn't the nicest looking thing in the world, I mean compared with other people at my office who have great looking leather bags that probably cost $200+. But that is the least important thing to me, because again my old leather case was nice, but it was heavy, and fell apart after minimal use. This case seems sturdy, and again is quite comfortable. One thing to keep in mind is, while this is roomy for being just a notebook case, it is not a suitcase; i.e. don't expect to fit all of the above I mentioned, PLUS like a change of clothes. Technically you might be able to fit a few pieces of clothing in there, but that's clearly not what it was made for. Bottom line, if you're looking for an inexpensive, quality, roomy and comfortable case that can fit pretty much any size laptop plus any accessories without feeling too bulky, this is a great choice. And if you have to replace it again in a few years, you only paid $50 for it. Not bad considering other bags out there cost double, triple, even 4-5x this one, but will deteriorate at the same rate (ex. my old ~$100 Samsonite case, which I treated fairly well and did not abuse in any way). Good stuff. One other note- I used the amazon super saver shipping for free shipping. I placed the order on Friday morning, it was delivered to my door Tuesday afternoon. Why ever pay for shipping?

I was a traveling teacher a few years ago and used this to carry my laptop, gradebook, planbook and files, among other things in that one bookbag. This bookbag was very bulky and held quite a lot, especially in all of the compartments, but did not last long. After several months the inside fell apart. I was really excited about this bag because of all the great reviews. The reason I am returning it is that when it is packed with stuff, if you let go of the handle the whole bag tips over. It will not stand upright on its own. I already own a cheap carry-on bag with the same problem so I decided to splurge and get something of high quality that had the legs in the right place so it would not tip. This one tips even worse than my cheap bag from Target! I am very disappointed. Some other things: the color is very different than the picture. The "tan" is a medium brown, not light tan. Also, I agree with the reviews saying it is heavy even when empty. Fine for when rolling, but to go up the occasional staircase or broken elevator may be challenging for some. For the weight, you would expect a much larger bag that could hold more. This bag is made up of a million little compartments to hold phones and pens and computers and credit cards, etc, and all those holders add bulk and weight. There is not much room for anything else after all the holders and dividers. This bag would be perfect if it had fewer dividers and compartments and if the legs on the bottom were positioned so that the bag would stay upright rather than fall over.

I had been using a messenger style bag to hold my laptop, portable drives, repair and software discs, and other tools...pretty much my whole office but it was putting a "hurtin" on my back and legs. Well, this bag is helping me continue to work without the strain on my back and legs. Have been traveling between Atlanta and Wisconsin for the past year. Learned early on in the process that I needed to get my laptop off my shoulder and on the floor. I've had this bag for about a year now and it is really excellent. The construction has held up well, there are plenty of pockets for all your varying gear which I love, multiple zip pouches, card holders, and a nice storage compartment on the back you can probably get about 2 days of clothes in if you don't mind having to re-iron your shirt collars. My only gripe is that it doesn't fit well under the aisle seat storage of some aircraft, so it will count as your carry on. No problems getting it under the middle of aisle seats in the planes I travel in most often This is a pretty minor complaint, and there are some smaller offerings that will. It's just a trade off for the size of the bag.

Never use this case for your laptop. There is no cushion at all on both sides and on the top. This case is also too small for a 17" laptop -- it does not fit my 17" HP Pavillion dv9000. On the bright side, ebag is a store you can trust. I returned this bag without any question. Ebeg emailed me a return label to put on the original box, and I dropped it at a UPS store. I received my laptop it was in great cosmetic condition and it arrived here in a timely fashion considering im in Iraq. However it takes about 15 start ups and hard shut downs to get past the boot screen, the computer gets the blue error screen whenever i try and when i play a game that does not exceed the computers limit by far i get the blue error screen. When the laptop arrived the hard drive was jarred and one of the ram chips was out of its place. I emailed J&R and they were prompt on the return email and a solution to send it back for another but with the computer being the only way i can talk to my wife and family i cant do so. Therefor i give it 2 stars for the fact that they will replace and that it was shipped in a timely manner, however the laptop is very poor and i would get more out of a cheap Acer from Walmart. So take your chances on buying this becuse you may get a dud or an awsome laptop.

Well, I received the laptop in a nicely packed box. Which the laptop then was inside another box with tape saying "refurbished". This is all good, [...] has been selling the G71s too and they ship the laptop in the original refurbish box in comes in. So I was glad to see J&R did not do this, seeing as it was packed in much better all while still offering free shipping like [...]. The reason this only gets 2 stars is because the laptop itself was crap. 1 Star for the performance and parts in laptop. Which would be incredibly more awesome if there wasn't so many cons. :( 1 star for J&R, they helped me get my money back with no hassles. And I really appreciate them being really nice even if a crappy laptop is not their fault, as I blame Asus for doing a bad job at manufacturing the G71 with so many defects and problems. First off, the specs list its 6gigs, but I was only seeing that it had 4gigs in system properties. I can only assume either the Ram stick was missing, or that it was loose inside or something(supposed to be 3x2gig sticks inside). The bezel near the web-cam was coming off, kinda seemed like it was only glued on, and since it was up top, it somewhat affected how the lid closed. The HDD made a terrible clicking noise a LOT, this is a known problem for the 500gig Seagate hdds, but it still gets super annoying. Some even fail within the first week to month with the first signs being clicking, while others just annoyingly click. When the screen is dark, like during a dark scene in a movie, or just in general darker. You could clearly see to white smudges, that wasn't from a dirty screen, but guessing something to do with the back-lighting. Which leads me to also add, the colors and contrast ratio of this monitor SUCKS! Black looks gray, and the colors when working in Photoshop were just completely off compared to my other monitor. Certain shades of blue weren't coming out clearly, and grays were harder to tell at what exact gray level was. Red blended in with orange, telling those colors apart wasn't the easiest. I have to admit, I am noob at PS, so I'm no pro at detailing all about different colors. But on this screen, it wasn't very hard to spot the colors being off. The DVD-Rom drive would click very loud on boot-up, or when coming out of sleep mode. Which also should add, Asus never did fix the down-clocking of the video card when coming out of sleep mode. Therefore, only way to play a game with no troubles after your lappy has been asleep for a while is to restart. Overall, the specs are really good, and I really wish it was a better laptop. But I simply CAN NOT recommend someone to pay $900, or I guess close to $900 since the price has dropped since I bought it, for a laptop that will give you more problems then make you happy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Pros< - Good performance in games. - 10,346 in 3dmark06 stock everything. - The specs you get for price is amazing. - Can overclock the CPU with built in program, easily OCs 15% from 2.53ghz, to 2.888ghz. - Lights on front bottom can be changed to different colors or completely off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >Cons< - Screen contrast, and colors are very bad, and make laptop screen not fun to look at. - Screen also had the occasional flicker, there is a youtube vid showing this, and on notebookreview, Asus section forums many users reported this issue also. - DVD-Rom drive makes loud clicking noise on bootup and and when coming out of sleep mode. - Even on latest BIOS, the video card still has downclocking issues after coming out of sleep(has to hit 82c before it starts to DC,which is super easy to do in this heat machine), unless you reboot. - Some hard drives either fail as soon as you get it(read about it on Asus forums), or just really bother you with loud, constant clicking. - Bezel around webcam was coming off on mine, but I have read others webcams were just off center from the bezel on other G71s. - The GTX260m is downclocked at 500/1275/850 vs Nvidia's standard clocks supposed to be 550/1375/950. Can easily be OCed to normal clocks, but this thing already has high temps, and dont recommend it until your fully sure your temps are ok. - Only 1 fan to cool CPU and GPU. Thus results in high temperatures. Even with $70 dollar cooler, the GPU rose to 90c in game benchmarks. Best I got was 87c when playing DeadSpace.*Note, some other users aren't lucky, and it can heat up to 96c just in 3dmark06, and in worst cases just keeps heating until it bluescreens/shutsdown.(didn't happen to me, but have read about others getting this) - Along with con above^^, with only 1 fan, it gets Super loud when in games. But almost sounds scary loud to me. Obviously its just from the small fan having to do so much work, but still, I was worried about how long a fan could last when it sounds like that. - HUGE, the screen is only 17 inches. But the laptop chassis is about the size of what you'd see in 18inch laptops or bigger. - Can't turn off all the lights on back of laptop, can turn off the ones on the side, but the Logo, and strip light stay on 24/7. And most annoying blink when in standby(which prob also hurts battery more because of it( - Battery life(already new this, still consider it a worthy con) is only like 1.5hrs. Less if your actually doing stuff on it. - Fingerprint magnet on front lid, and on sides of the keyboard. - Touchpad buttons are loud, hard to click buttons. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In conclusion, you can see there is more than twice as much cons as there is pros. So if you can get this laptop and be ok with some of them, or get super lucky and get none of them, Great. But I had a friend try 3 different laptops from [...], each one had same problems to worse problems. As for me, I didn't want to keep trying, and therefore, even with knowing some of the forewarnings, I didn't listen, and bought it. Learned quickly it was a horribly, bad mistake. When I used the disks to reload the computer to factory condition as it was so full of bloatware and i put in a new 7200 drive, and the installation stopped half way as it says the "Does not match this model" when i am prompted to insert the driver disk. It says g17gx up there but on the computer it says gi7g. Asus customer support has yet to call back. Anyone know what is going on? Does the computer have some unauthentic parts? Ir syas Nvidia 260m but when you get the driver from Nvidia it says not the right model for this driver? Now I have a computer with none of the features I paid for. It would be easy for Asus to get me the right driver utility. It was a really nice computer at first now it is not. If they can get me the right utility so I can resore the system to how it was I would be happy. I have found nothing anywhere about a simular problem. The Asus forum has nothing related to this problem. Make sure you get what you paid for and make sure the driver disk is the right one for the model.

The laptop is quick and arrived in perfect shape. The only machine complaints I have are the bloatware that you have to uninstall (common on notebooks) and the keys seem to double strike fairly often when typing (compared to others, not a deal-breaker by any means) resulting in a star reduction. However, I deducted another star because of the reseller failing to note that the refurbished condition means that one does not qualify for the Asus Windows 7 free upgrade program and refusing to answer emails about said problem, not even to say it's your problem. It's not so much that I didn't get the upgrade considering the great price, but one is left with a bad taste in your mouth with Amazon shoppers should be wary when dealing with J&R Music and Electronics.

I ordered a refurbished D600 from Dell Financial Services 3 years ago. It was a good solid laptop while I had it. Mine had 1gb of RAM and a CD/DVDROM (no burner). Mine also did not come with an XP CD or any recovery disc at all. I had an old Windows 2000 CD, so I loaded that. I tried upgrading it to Vista Home Basic. It was way slow, even with 1gb of RAM. I ran Server 2003 and Server 2008 on it for a while, to study for certification exams. I also ran Fedora and Ubuntu Linux for a while. It even ran a hackintosh version of OS X fairly well. I think the hard drive started going bad after I reformatted it so many times. I replaced the hard drive with a spare 20gb drive. This drive was tpo small for Vista, Office and all the latest patches. I went back to Windows 2000, because it was small and ran the best. I never tried it with XP, because Dell did not include the XP CD with my purchase. This was a great laptop for learning different operating systems in a test environment. I did have a few problems with this laptop. First, the CD/DVD drive had problems booting from CDs after a while. DVDs seemed to boot ok. Second, the hard drive starget going bad. I think I just wore it out. It was easy enough to replace myself. Third, way slow with Windows Vista. I agree with the other reviewers who said it's too slow to be a gaming computer. My biggest complaint with the D600, is that it's so darn heavy. It weighs almost 5 1/2 lbs, or over 6 lbs if you include the charger. That's just too heavy to lug around when I'm traveling. I sold it to a friend for a very good price and ordered a Dell Mini 9 netbook to take traveling. The 2.2 lb Netbook is way more convenient to take traveling. By the way, most Netbooks have a 1.6ghz processor compared to the 1.4ghz processor in the D600. Sometimes I miss the 14 inch screen, but the Netbooks small size, lightweight and portablity more than make up for it.

I was skeptical about purchasing a refurbished D610. It has worked like a charm the speed and capacity are suitable for my needs. It's a great home computer, I don't have to do any heavy computing with it but it seems quite capable to take on any job. The only thing that could be better is the brightness of the screen. Dell Latitude D610 Laptop Wireless Computer (Refurbished) I purchased a refurbished Dell Laptop with low expectations. And I got, I believe, a much sturdier computer than I expected. I really hadn't wanted a Dell, but that was what was available at the time. I didn't give it 5 stars simply because I do not believe everything is perfect. It operates well at speed for my relatively simple needs, and is complete with OS for a very reasonable price. Even the battery has a little life in it .. it is good for about an hour. I bought it to replace a Lenovo laptop that I have had for years, and relied upon until it had a disagreement with a glass of tea. I had no trouble downloading and installing a few reliable programs like Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, and Winamp. I had a little trouble with the wireless, but it was my problem, not a problem with the machine. The only problem that I foresee is with the power cable. It doesn't have a sturdy center post like others i have seen. It looks more like a cable TV connector with that skinny little pin that bends easily if not placed precisely in the right position.

I bought one of these laptops two months ago. It has been working just fine. Today Microsoft told me that the license is not valid. It has a valid certificate of authenticity on the back but does not have a second "refurbished" CoA. When I look at the internal System Properties/General tab it says "XP Corporate" which means it was covered under a volume/site license which can not be transferred or sold. I will probably have to buy a fresh copy of XP ($150) and re-install. Before I made the order I checked to see that the advertisement specified "Genuine Windows XP". I also checked the CoA when it arrived. When the Microsoft updater offered to run "Genuine Advantage" to check the authenticity I confidently thought "sure, go right ahead." Now every time I restart I get a big message that says I am a victim of software piracy. If left uncorrected, I expect the operating system would eventually simply stop running. Some vendors specify "Genuine Windows XP". If it arrives with XP it may be legitimate, or NOT. Microsoft has a very active updating and authenticating program. You probably don't want a system that is not kept up to date and free of security vulnerabilities. The updater will check the system validity.

The notebook is very sturdily and handsomely constructed, if rather utilitarian-looking on the outside compared to some offerings from other companies, and it's the first Thinkpad to offer a touchpad in addition to its famous "eraserhead" pointing device. The power button is well-placed on the keyboard itself rather than on the side as in earlier Thinkpads, which prevents awkward accidents with the machine switching on and draining the battery inadvertently. The various ports are well-arranged. Please note that the floppy drive on this model is a separate expansion unit which must be installed into the UltraBay; it's up to you whether you want to purchase one, since floppies really are pretty much obsolete these days with flash drives getting so cheap. The 14.1" screen is not as big as some other companies' models but delivers clear, crisp pictures. All in all, highly recommended for somebody who needs a high-powered laptop without wanting to pay a premium price for a new machine with the still-teething Windows Vista.

Purchased both of these and had these for less than two years. Paid 600.00 for the T41 and 400.00 for the T30 at Budget Computers in Portland Oregon a big reseller of these. Well we are now finding out that there is a design flaw in these. Apparently the newer IBMs have a cage around the video card to prevent these heavy laptops from shearing the video card from the motherboard if you pick it up with one hand. But even with the new cages it can shear off from what I am told. Both of the IBM laptop video cards are failing. IBM won't recall these or repair these. IBM was bought out by company in Hong Kong and from what I can tell on the internet the products are not good and IT managers are finding out the hard way just as I have. But the fact that they changed the design pretty much admits to the poor design. Budget Computer plays dumb and says if they knew about the defect they wouldn't have sold it to us. But at the time we were in for another issue on one of them two days before the warranty expired they had kind of mentioned it under their breath saying they hoped this one was ok. So they knew. I guess someone is suing them right now. The did offer to take 200.00 off and sell us another IBM T42 or R51 for another 300.00. They omitted the part that some of the T42s still have the same poorly designed motherboards as the T41. Will never buy again from Budget Computer nor IBM. I had done all my home work and everyone said IBM made these stout laptops but I do not consider it a good investment by any means. All I can say is that it is timed obsolesence or lazy product development. Resellers like Budget Computer makes me want to avoid middle man altogether. I would not by another refurbished laptop from reseller again. Budget also ghosts the software onto the machines and never provides software disks and it is far better to have the software to fix issues. Always get the disks for software for your machine. You are not getting a deal at Budget. I even emailed the CEO of IBM and never heard from them. IBM even has a 1-800 complaint line separate from customer service, if that is not telling I don't know what is. The complaint line takes you to India from the sounds of it. The customer support and tech support in Georgia was not that good either. They kept transfering me endlessly. I was so disappointed at their customer support and they were poorly trained. I wish I could find a laptop that really hold us to being moved around. Panasonic makes these supposidly tougher ones but they want 3K! Can't anyone make a 600.00 laptop that is light enough and tough enough that it doesn't bend the motherboard under normal use?

I just last weekend bought this product refurbished, but I've already had enough experience with it to know that I'm retiring my old Thinkpad 600e (with profuse thanks, as that other IBM product has rendered yeoman service for the last 3+ years) and making this my main backup computer (if that makes sense - I mean that it's the computer I will be using when I'm not in front of my Sempron 2800+-based home-built). About the only real faults I can find with the T30 are that there are no USB 2.0 ports integrated into the machine (you need to buy a PC Card for that, but they're easy to get and fairly cheap and will literally plug-and-play install with Windows XP) and that the factory-install 40GB hard drive is a bit too small and, at 4200 RPM, a bit slow for modern purposes. However, any good modern HD with a capacity of 60GB to 80GB should suffice to upgrade this part. Optical drives and RAM expansion modules for this model are readily available, as are batteries; I've already oomphed up my T30 by boosting the RAM to 1GB, which causes the Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on this machine to run very smoothly indeed, and putting in an 8X DVD+/- writer (I am intending to find a lightweight, portable scanner and a USB 2.0 hard drive next). I really like the integrated wireless; for the first time in my computing career (and I'm admittedly rather late coming to this point) I really am experiencing the power of Internet mobility. EDIT: After nine months of using this laptop, there are several issues that have come up. None of them is a showstopper, but taken together, they'd probably take the overall rating down by half a star - still very good at 4.5 stars, but not quite as overwhelming as I had earlier deemed it. 1) The Thinkpad T30 has a rather notorious problem with its RAM slots, in which the bottom slot often works intermittently or not at all. Depending on how much RAM you need, the impact can range from negligible to major, and is almost always frustrating because it cuts your total amount of RAM by half. In my case, this means that what should be 1 GB of RAM is actually 512 MB RAM - not inadequate for Windows XP Pro, by any means, particularly for the business purposes to which the Thinkpad series is usually put - but annoying. There are several workarounds for this problem, ranging from the field-expedient of inserting a folded piece of paper over the problem RAM slot (this is said to hold down the DIMM enough to make it contact properly) to outright replacement of the motherboard with a properly working unit. 2) The LCD front bezel is rather flimsy. It cracked at the left front catch back in the late summer, making the unit a bit difficult to open. I haven't had the opportunity to get this fixed yet, but it's actually a fairly simple matter of getting a new front bezel - replacement parts are readily available through eBay and other sources. 3) Make sure, as I indicated earlier, that you get a proper USB 2.0 PC Card for this unit, particularly one that has a power adapter. You'll need it to run an external hard drive such as the Seagate FreeAgent Go, which doesn't have an AC adapter of its own. Still very highly recommended, but do be aware of the potential pitfalls. Also be aware that at this point, warranty has very likely expired on any of this particular model you find, so you'll need to know a local computer shop that has good repair rates if something goes seriously wrong.

The product wasn't the version (shape) that was described. I didn't find the particular version a problem, I simply had to purchase alternate accessories, which was a Christmas morning bummer. The main problem was that a channel was blown (only one side was producing music.) I'm still in the process of returning it so I cannot comment on the return process. I was having issues with using a splitter on my cable network, and decided to go wireless. I had the WG111v2 network adapter, which worked fine, but was a lot slower than using a cable. I decided to buy the WN111. The installation and setup was easy, and my connection is blazing fast. The blue light on the adapter is very bright, but I kind of like that. I have no regrets about going wireless using this adapter.

I bought this used (like new), and it arrived as advertised, at an incredibly low price. It has the extension cable, and I have used it with and without - both ways it stayed locked at 270 Mps, but I didn't get any farther than 15 ft. from my router. I use it mainly with a 3-yr. old laptop, and I usually connect to a corporate network via Cisco VPN. The basic connection to my home network is with a D-Link DIR-655 router; not the latest dual-band type, but capable of a good solid 270 Mps. I have connected with this (WN111 v2) adapter several times, for up to 36 hours per session, and I haven't been dropped yet. The lowest connection rate I have seen is 200 Mps (briefly), and even then it went back up to 270 Mps without intervention. It was also super-easy to install. I would highly recommend it, even if you do not use a NetGear router. CONS: The only one I can think of is that the case is a bit thick, so if your USB ports are close together, you may have difficulty plugging into the adjacent port.

I opened it, plugged it in, WinXP SP3 found it, installed drivers, and voila! Plugged in my flash drive, everything worked great. There always seems to be a need for added USB ports & this little unit slips into the PCMCIA slot and is ready to go. On my wife's laptop it gives two USB ports available on the side of the computer so she doesn't have to reach around & find a slot in the back. It works best with flash drives & using the sync feature for our palm devices but any low power device seems to be fine. This is the third one I have purchased, not because we wear them out but because they fit so well into our laptops we can just leave them in place and for the price it's worth it. Unlike some of the built in USB ports it powers down with the computer so it is a good choice for a chill mat or if you don't want to hot swap a flash drive. The only thing I have plugged into this device that gave me a little trouble was a high capacity external hard drive that I was using for backup but I just moved it to another port rather than trouble shooting it. It is possible that it just needed to go through a recognition that I didn't take time for. This is a very worthwhile purchase & I would recommend it highly.

If you notice there are reviews all over the place. The reason for this is because those that are not getting good performance are not setting them up correctly in windows. After you install the USB device in a USB 2 connector (not a USB 1) you have to go into the windows volume control panel and be sure to select it (USB) as the device to be used. Otherwise it will still be set on your internal sound card. It is best to disable the internal sound card or else you may end up with noise you don't want. If you set it up correctly it works beautifully and for a fraction of the cost of a new soundcard.

I purchased this, along with the SanDisk 2gb card for two pre-paid mobile phones that needed microSD to store music. It works great. No troubles yet! The company that sold the phone recommended the Sandisk over other microSD cards, but I haven't noticed a difference between this one and the Sandisk. Note: On first install, the PC didn't read the card. I took off the back of the phone, removed and replaced the card to see if it was just a placement issue, and tried again. Worked like a champ.

Some people are having trouble with the USB reader in this kit and it's class 2 memory so it's a little slow. This being said, it's great for storing music for my phone as this data does not change much. It's also fast enough to capture and playback on my Samsung Rogue. You might want to get faster memory if you plan on changing what's stored on it a lot, but if you mostly want to dump music to it and use the rest of the space for pictures/videos on a cell phone it's a good deal.

It is absolutely amazing how small this storage device is. It is about the size of the average "pinky" nail and yet holds the equivalent data of over 5,000 diskettes (for those of you who can remember what a diskette is). My only problem is that none of the devices that I use can recognize the USB reader that came with the kit. This forces me to use the adapters that, fortunately came with the kit. Without that, the device would have been useless. I'm guessing this is a driver issue; I'll have to do an online search to see if something is available.

I bought this as a low-priced alternative to some of the bigger names out there, but I should have just shelled out the extra money. I've installed this on both Vista and Windows 7 and I admit the installation was easier on Windows 7. Windows 7 recognized it right away as a Realtek card and installed drivers. Vista was not so fortunate as I had to put in a disc to make it work. Regardless, after the adapter has been running a few hours, the machine bluescreens. Over the course of a day, this can happen 2-3 times. In addition, it only provides a fraction of the available throughput of my Linksys adapter. I replaced this adapter with a Linksys PCI card and the PCI card has no issue using the full 54Mbps provided by the G protocal. This card, however, hovers between 11Mbps and 36Mbps. Same location, same power output from my WRT54G router. Granted, this is probably to do with the internal antenna on this adapter vs the external antenna on my Linksys card, but it knocks the adapter again in my book. Also, I think the heat dissipation is poor on this adapter which is probably it's primary problem. It gets warm. Too warm. That coupled with the fact that my desktops are typically active 20-24 hours per day, makes this a poor alternative for a desktop or a frequently-on laptop. I strongly suggest spending the money on something else. As a Windows 7 user, I wasn't satisfied with this adapter because I planned to use it for more than just a few hours at a time. It's frequent bluescreen causing malfunctions were more than irritating. As a Vista user, my experience with this card was even more frustrating. The adapter was difficult to connect and wouldn't stay connected. Plus, it too bluescreens frequently. General feeling: Stay away from this product, no matter what the price. Thank goodness I only spent $15 on it.

I recently purchased an Arkview USB to DVI adapter and tried for hours to get it to work on my OSX snow leopard mac book pro to no avail. There are "beta" drivers that Arkview directs you to download. I'm pretty good at hacking around to get things to work, but these drivers would not work on my system. It looks as if it installs, but the device never activates. So I read somewhere that the drivers for Leopard (not Snow) seem to be the way to go, so I dusted off my Mac Book from a couple years ago with Leopard, tried installing the non-beta drivers, and still nothing. I called Arkview and they will provide very limited support for Mac users because they do not support the Mac drivers that are required to install this device on a Mac. I've also read that some people have REINSTALLED their complete OS and installed the drivers on a fresh system and it seems to get it to work. In my book, that does not make your device "Mac Compatible". Mac users be warned!

If you want an additional monitor without installing a video card, this is a perfect solution. I wanted to use my 23" Samsung TV/Monitor as an additional computer monitor. Since I didn't have a dual monitor video card, I was shopping for a reasonable video card when I noticed this USB adapter. How lucky I was. You simply plug the USB cable to the adapter, connect your choice of cable to the TV and in minutes you're in business. Picture quality is great. I'm not a gamer so I can't comment on that area, but for my needs (Microsoft Office, Internet, etc.),this product was the answer.

I purchased this to connect to an IBM Thinkpad running a 32 bit version of Vista. I wanted to add a third monitor. I already had the laptop screen running at 1280 X 1024 and a second monitor running at 1600 X 1200. I installed the software, and rebooted as instructed. When the laptop tried to boot, it went to a blue screen of death. The menu for installing doesn't even show options for installing for Vista or XP, it shows you Windows version 4.5 or Window 4.6. How ridiculous. There is no uninstall option from the cd. Because I have to boot in Safe Mode, I am unable to remove the software. This is probably a limitation established by my network admin. That's why I'm irritated that the disc does not come with the uninstall option. I even tried to set the screen resolution to 800 X 600 (16 bit) in safe mode, and then reboot into Windows, hoping that it would be able to apply the settings. Then I could see if the issue was that I had one of my monitors running at 1600 X 1200 before installing the device. Still didn't work. I have been using computers for 15 years and am not a novice. This is not a plug and play device in all situations. The word CARP comes to mind, but I'll try it on one of my XP machines at home.

Product works flawlessly. Very pleased. One thing to keep in mind is the resolution that you will want to set your secondary monitor up at (using this device). This external card will only take your monitor resolution up to 1280 X 1024. It probably mentions that somewhere in the description - but I failed to read it or even think about it. If you have a 17 inch monitor this might not be such a big deal - but if you are trying to hook up a 19 inch monitor (or larger) you might find it anoying in a dual monitor setup if you prefer the smaller resolutions. This is slightly annoying to me since I'm running a dual monitor set-up (2 identical 19 inch Dell monitors), and not utilizing the laptops native screen along with a monitor hooked up sitting next to the laptop while using the product. The extra screen is still useful at the lower resolution and the products ease of use gets the job done for me, but others might find this unacceptable.

I ordered the product in order to expand my screen onto an Emerson HDTV through the HDMI input. The software that came with the device was out of date and would not install onto windows 7. After several hours of flickering screens and bad picture resolution, we gave up on this and ordered another product.

Once installed, this item works well. With no printed installation guide included, however, I had to depend on the seller to provide me a driver installation walkthrough, which was essentially as follows (thanks to Cable4Less for this valuable info -- but YOUR unit's requirements may be different): 1. load the driver CD and make sure a DM 9610 subfolder is available deep within the USB LAN folder (if not, find a machine that CAN read the CD, copy the USB LAN folder, with all its subfolders and the files therein, to a memory stick, and use that memory stick in place of the CD); 2. insert the USB LAN device, and [OK] and [Next] your way through the "Found New Hardware" wizard, rejecting Windows' offers to find best drivers for you, but choosing to provide drivers yourself, until you get the opportunity to tell Windows where to find drivers: here choose the [Browse] option and browse through the drive letter your driver-set is mounted at, through the various subfolders, USB LAN, DM 9610, etc., to %YourWindowsVersion%;, and OK your final choice; 3. Windows begins the driver-installation process; when Windows complains about uncertified drivers, just dismiss that warning; 4. install should then finish quickly, but don't connect to ethernet yet; 5. instead, go through Start | Control Panel | Network Connections, to configure you new LAN connection (with DM 9610 in its description) as to DHCP or fixed address options, DNS address, firewall options, etc.; OK your way out; 6. NOW connect ethernet cable from your router or DSL/cable gateway box, and VOILA! the little red pilot light comes on, and you should be connected. You may have to be a little bit of a geek to take to this like a duck to water, but it's all pretty straightforward. No idea why the manufacturer left no hints at all -- not even the model # -- on the device or on its packaging. No idea why the install CD includes drivers for so many unrelated products, yet has no overall README for guidance. But, once installed, this USB LAN adapter has worked like a charm. And for a grand total of well under a dozen bucks, postpaid at that, it's certainly value for money. If you get one, ASK explicitly if it's the DM 9610 or some other (and, if other, WHICH other). And enjoy!

I purchased this to replace the on-board sound for a laptop I use for my home media system. The one on-board works fine, but emits a low hum when not playing music. This one emits the same hum (so must be unavoidable, at least on this laptop), but it's max volume is also much lower than the on-board, and so I am not using it.

I highly recommend this vendor and this little external sound adapter. While traveling I broke the headphone jack that's on the right side of my Inspiron E1705. The speakers couldn't switch on because the broken jack was still in the headphone "plug" mode. I didn't have time to check into repairs but I was creating a DVD and I needed the sound back quick. So I ordered this inexpensive USB sound card and prayed for the best. It arrived right on time, the same day I got home, and worked perfectly the minute I plugged it in - no drivers needed! I purchased this for my laptop so that I could do my math and Statistics coursework. This worked right out of the box and has the same tactile feel as my laptop keys. It's large enough to be comfortable to use, yet still small enough to fit in the my laptop case. Having the spacebar on the keypad is also a great feature when typing in formulas and calculations and the 00 key came in handy when doing my taxes. Shipping was fast through eforce, it arrived 5 days earlier than the estimate.

The Connectland Numeric Keypad is a plug-and-play USB device that allows the user to enter digits into documents or the calculator on your computer or laptop. There is no installation disk. You simply plug it into a USB port and start using. Or so it stated in the ad. In truth, although my laptop did recognize the device, and said it was working properly, it did not want to work. I had to update the device driver, and do other internal stuff before it started working. Your laptop or computer may allow it to work right away. Each laptop is different. Now that it is working, I really enjoy the function and design of it. Having the space bar over to the side is very comfortable for my thumb, and all the keys are within easy reach. I do medical coding at home on a laptop and this is just what I need to enter my diagnoses codes. The 00 are perfect for this as well. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect 5 stars is, well, it needs a "tab" button. I have to go back to my laptop key pad in order to do this.

This product is ok, but definitely not the best. I, too, dislike the layout, as I am also used to the number pad on a regular keyboard. Also, I've found that not all the buttons work. On mine, the backslash key makes an asterisk. That's been pretty frustrating, as the program I use my number pad on requires the use of the backslash key quite often. Other than that, the product seems to work fine.

Layout: The usb keypad is good for the price. I am used to the desktop numeric keypads, so the key arrangements feels weird. This mainly applies for the addition key. It takes up 2 key spaces on the desktop keyboards, the second key space is now occupied by the backspace button. I like that fact that it has the 000 button. It saves me time when I am typing huge numbers. The backspace key is okay, but I don't like the placement. I guess that it's more of a personal preference, so some people might not have problems with it. It will take a few weeks, but I will get used to the key placement. Price: The price of the keypad is really cheap. If you look at the other products on amazon, they cost $8 more than this keypad. This also includes the 000 key, and a backspace button. I paid about $12 for the usb numeric keypad; the shipping was about $3. The usb numeric keypad is really cheap when you compare it to retail stores. Most retail stores sell these for about $30, and these are just the lowest costing keypads. They don't even included the 000 key, or the backspace key.
