Timed to the release of the 2001 remake of the Sinatra-Martin-Davis anti-classic Ocean's 11, this 18-track compendium serves as less a best-of than an introduction to the high-living nightclub ethos the Rat Pack embodied. Along with some true knockouts, mostly from Frank's catalog, Eee-O 11's mostly beltingly upbeat tracks also include the impossibly corny (a "When You're Smiling" that seems to be putting Dino himself to sleep) and a couple of straitjacketed studio takes on the Pack's onstage antics (both Sammy duets). Handily, 11 culls one of the original movie's few high points--the rousing Davis blues that provides this disc's title--for a closer. Those drawn in by the newer flick will find this a welcome package, as will swingin' initiates looking for a road-trip CD soundtrack. --Rickey Wright |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR COLLECTION, I HAVE LOVED DENO FOR A LONG TIME BUT NOT WELL VERSED WITH THE RAT PACK, THIS IS A FUN CD TO LISTEN TO, YOU CAN HEAR THE MAGIC THESE BOYS HAD, SAMMY IS GREAT ON THE CD. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I mostly bought this because I was having trouble finding E-O-11 on another album. Glad I did -- lots of great recordings here. A nice addition to my collection. CUSTOMER REVIEW - My husband loves the Rat Pack. This upbeat CD, with songs you don't hear everyday, is a hit with this family. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for music by Dean, Sammy and Frank. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this for my 15 year old son who has recently discovered and loves the singers/standards/jazz of the 50's and 60's. He actually goes to sleep listening to this! So much better than all of the hip-hop "yelling at life" stuff out today that is so degrading. A great selection from Frank, Sammy and Dean. I would recommend this to anyone. CUSTOMER REVIEW - A compilation of studio recordings by Messrs. The Rat Pack, (aka Frank, Dean and Sam) this irrepressibly upbeat CD is a fine intro to those of us (not me) too young to remember The Boys in their hey-hey days, and a gift of memory to those who do (including me). Standards from The Rat Pack catalogue round out most of this disc, topped by Sammy Davis Jr.'s beautiful blues rendition of the original OCEAN'S ELEVEN theme song. Enjoy! So put the top down and go cruising. It's a cool day inside, pallie. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - When you think of men's shoes, you gotta think of FLORSHEIM. The Florsheim brand means quality, comfortable footwear--especially the FLORSHEIM CABOT SLIP-ON. It's virtually the only slip-on I wear, and once I wear out a pair (and that takes some doing) I replace them with another. Earth to Captain Obvious: I really like this shoe. The Cabot slip-ons are soft, lightweight, and have a cushioned insole for soothing comfort through the longest of days. Plus they look good, wearing after wearing, and go with any type of casual to dressy office attire (I prefer the black color; it does look good with any slack). So guys, if you're looking for a comfortable, quality, affordable shoe to wear to the office, get the FORSHEIM MEN'S CABOT SLIP-ON. They do look good with any attire; well, I haven't worn them with my bermuda shorts. Haven't reached that age. --D. Mikels, Esq. |

Over the last ten years, the ARM architecture has become one of the most pervasive architectures in the world, with more than 2 billion ARM-based processors embedded in products ranging from cell phones to automotive braking systems. A world-wide community of ARM developers in semiconductor and product design companies includes software developers, system designers and hardware engineers. To date no book has directly addressed their need to develop the system and software for an ARM-based system. This text fills that gap. This book provides a comprehensive description of the operation of the ARM core from a developer's perspective with a clear emphasis on software. It demonstrates not only how to write efficient ARM software in C and assembly but also how to optimize code. Example code throughout the book can be integrated into commercial products or used as templates to enable quick creation of productive software. The book covers both the ARM and Thumb instruction sets, covers Intel's XScale Processors, outlines distinctions among the versions of the ARM architecture, demonstrates how to implement DSP algorithms, explains exception and interrupt handling, describes the cache technologies that surround the ARM cores as well as the most efficient memory management techniques. A final chapter looks forward to the future of the ARM architecture considering ARMv6, the latest change to the instruction set, which has been designed to improve the DSP and media processing capabilities of the architecture. * No other book describes the ARM core from a system and software perspective. * Author team combines extensive ARM software engineering experience with an in-depth knowledge of ARM developer needs. * Practical, executable code is fully explained in the book and available on the publisher's Website. * Includes a simple embedded operating system. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - The book is very well written and the language is easy to understand, as long as you have some basic knowledge about assembly language and C programming. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Whether you're developing a small automotive application runned ARM7 or working on a real-time or timeshared operating system involving ARM platform this book is definitely a must-have desk guide. In this book you'll find a thorough description of modern ARM cores and their differences, hints and tips on managing caches and TLB mappings, working with MMU and MPU, handling exceptions and keeping the pipeline loaded by writing effective code. The book also covers ARM DSP extensions, THUMB instruction set and gives a handy list of heavily optimized primitives for common operations like arithmetics, bit operations and random numbers generation. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Simply put, this is the must-have-book for any ARM programmer as I think this is the best or perhaps the only useful book of its kind available. I like the chapter "Efficient C Programming" that tells you how to optimize your code in general and specifically for ARM architecture. However, I do not like the idea of making some complicated tricks in assembly language just to get rid of one instruction in a function. The working assembly code optimized for mathematics calculation and signal processing application could be valuable for those pursuing high computation power. The explanation of cache and MMU are very detailed and clear. Whereas the walkthrough on assembly language is quite an easy one. However, it is quite a shame that less focus has been given to some general but essential features such as exception handling, bootloading and real time operating system. There was little or no word on the compilation, linking, tools, simulator which will be of great help for the user to kickstart an ARM project. Some complained the lacking of information in ARM11 and later processor, well, that is reasonable if you take a look at the publishing date. Anyway, the content of this book is still relevant and useful for many ARM7/9-powered microprocessor being used in the market. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This book covers all necessary topics to know ARM evolution, general ARM architecture organisation and ARM programming. Also, introduces to Thumb architecture, but it doesn't touch the Cortex family (as expected, since Cortex is a recent architecture). Written in a mid-tecnhical style, it's recommended to have ARM specific data sheet and ARM instruction set to know specific details about the ARM processor used. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The authors have done a wonderful job of taking something complicated and making it very simple, without dumbing it down. They explain why and how, and the material is well organized. There are useful reference tables scattered throughout. There is no attempt at humor, and I'm grateful for it. Highlights include discussions about registers, Arm multiple load/store instructions, the Arm function calling convention, tactics for writing fast C and assembler, DSP implementation, memory management, and assembler code for things like division. The chapters on firmware and basic OS implementation each show a simple yet functional implementation. My only complaint is that there's nothing practical in here about IO, not even JTAG. The authors have limited themselves to the ARM core only, perhaps because there are many differences between the microprocessors that use it. This makes the title a bit misleading - in my view a System Developer's Guide should have enough information so that you can at least write a "Hello World" program of some sort, even if it doesn't work on everybody's hardware. So to do anything practical, you'll have to track down a lot more documentation for your specific microcontroller. Still, five stars for the clear, detailed information on the topics it does cover. I will certainly be using it as a reference. |

The future of the computer and communications industries is converging on mobile information appliances - phones, PDAs, laptops and other devices. The ARM is at the heart of this trend, leading the way in system-on-chip (SoC) development and becoming the processor core of choice for many embedded applications. System-on-chip technology is changing the way we use computers, but it also sets designers the very challenging problem of getting a complex SoC design right first time. ARM System-on-Chip Architecture introduces the concepts and methodologies employed in designing a system-on-chip based around a microprocessor core, and in designing the core itself. Extensive illustrations, based on the ARM, give practical substance to the design principles set out in the book, reinforcing the reader's understanding of how and why SoCs and microprocessors are designed as they are. ARM System-on-Chip Architecture: · presents and discusses the major issues of system-on-chip design, including memory hierarchy, caches, memory management, on-chip buses, on-chip debug and production test · provides an overview of the ARM processor family, enabling the reader to decide which ARM is best for the job in hand · describes the ARM and Thumb programming models, enabling the designer to begin to develop applications · covers all the latest ARM products and developments, including StrongARM, the ARM9 and ARM10 series of cores, and the ARM-based SoC components at the heart of Ericsson's Bluetooth technology, the Psion Series 5 PDA and Samsung's SGH2400 GSM handset · includes details on the AMULET asynchronous ARM cores and the AMULET3H asynchronous SoC subsystem ARM System-on-Chip Architecture is an essential handbook for system-on-chip designers using ARM processor cores and engineers working with the ARM. It can also be used as a course text for undergraduate and masters students of computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I am first going to mention that I have moderate digital electronics, C, and (various type of)assembler experience, but also lack of knowledge when it comes to deep understanding of computer-specialised hardware. Writer of the book is person who invented ARM (along with his colleague Sophie Wilson if I am correct). He is also very literate and doesn't write in riddles, like many programmers and engineers do. You have to read book slowly and lot of times if you, like me, have insufficient knowledge from undergrad studies. Wikipedia helps, too. The book is not full of flashy and obvious examples, but every sentence has meaning, every one is connected logically with previous. You should read it slowly. This book is great, it's only flaw is testing the chip topic, where the difference between simulator and emulator isn't explained clearly and ICE is not well written in my opinion. Therefore four and half stars. I am thankful to author because I have learned some things my professors just mentioned and that are from 'real world' and can be used in industry, not only to make tasks for exam. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is one of the best technical books I've ever read. It is very easy to read, no nonsense, very practical and packed with lots of designer's secret you probably won't find elsewhere. Although many newer ARM cores had been designed since the publication in 8 years ago, the content of remain relavent, as there are still many designs based on ARM7 and ARM9 which are explained very detail in this book (some limited coverage on ARM10). Maybe the author just need to publish a Volume II to continue from this book left, rather than another edision. This book isn't just for ARM user, I would recommend it to any engineer or graduate student who deal with microprocessor. Most microprocessor textbooks only tell you 'how' a processor or a bus work. This book tells you 'Why'. The author tells from his real design experience on how to improve the professor performance by using different pipeline, memory architecture, cache, bus etc. Buy it, it is fun to read! CUSTOMER REVIEW - In 20+ years of software development on a host of different target processors I've seen all kinds of documentation. My current projects represent my first exposure to the ARM. I have found this book to contain everything almost everything I've needed. The only thing that I'd like to see the author add in the next edition is a better discussion on EABIs (Extended Application Binary Interface). This book is a very good source for anyone needing to understand the guts of the ARM processor for software related needs. It is one of the better sources I used over the years. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This IS a good book. Plenty of contents. It's better be used as a mix-purpose book as a guide material and a referrence. You'd better focus what you want if you don't have that much time. Otherwise it will be a very good spare time reading. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a really good book to have ! Real stuff ! |

The ARM core is probably the most widely used embedded central processing unit incorporated in programmed electronic systems. Millions of products with an ARM core are sold every day. ARM cores are components in so many electronic products that ARM is increasingly chosen as the main CPU example for electronic engineering course. This is an introductory text describing the ARM assembly language and its use for simple tasks. It is suitable for students who have not previously used any assembly language. Features of ARM that differ from other common microcontrollers are emphasised so it is also an introduction for the professional using an ARM device for the first time. |
|||

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This book is THE book to learn correctly ARM assembly language programming. The author explains everything, even the aspects that seems obvious for expert in ARM and that are a real pain to bigginers. Gibson also succeeded at keeping his book independent from a specific platform, or specific cpu family. The book starts with very short and easy programs and goes deeper in explaining in details all aspects of the instruction set. I really appreciated it. With the knowlege you got from this book, you can dive in ANY other advanced book on ARM (even ARM doc). You'll be for sure able to read and understand any ASM source code (if you really practice a lot and do all exercices of this book of course). I contacted the author by mail for various questions, and I must say that I got answers very quickly and M Gibson gave really a lot of interrest and really analysed the problems. Really very nice. |

"Fast-track your way to a movie-star body." --Woman’s World "Lose the jiggle without the gym." --Marie Claire A quarter of a million people have transformed their bodies at exhale, the exclusive mind/body spa. Now you can get these same results at home. Create chiseled arms and washboard abs with Core Fusion Pure Abs and Arms. Targeted to work your entire upper body, this program will put you on the fast track to a beautifully toned and defined physique. Using a resistance band, you’ll sculpt your shoulders and back, lose the tricep jiggle, and build core strength for a healthy, flexible spine. The program is separated into five segments of just 10 minutes each. Pick a few to fit your schedule, or use them together for a complete (and completely rewarding) workout. Plus, the bonus stretch strengthens those hard-to-reach but highly important back and spinal muscles. "Try the workout celebs are loving." --Shape The popular Core Fusion series gets right to the point in this excellent abs and arms workout disc. The five Pure Abs & Arms 10-minute workouts, which can be done all together or separately, are focused and challenging. But at just 10 minutes each, they are manageable even at their most intense, and designed for the best results. The disc, which comes with a nice long resistance band, mixes upper body workouts with great ab movements. The viewer will also want a set of dumbbells for one of the arms workouts; 5 pounds is plenty challenging, because there really is no rest between reps. Instructors Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp give clear, encouraging instruction, solely as voice-overs, which enables them to focus on demonstrating proper technique during the workouts themselves. The resistance band makes increasing (or decreasing) the intensity easy, and the high-energy repetitions mean the viewer should feel and see results quickly. Many of the movements are inspired by traditional weightlifting, Pilates, and yoga, but the instructors combine actions in unusual ways to cross-work muscle groups--and to keep things interesting. For working every muscle group in the arms and abs, Pure Abs & Arms is an enjoyable, flexible routine that is also a lot of fun. --A.T. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have had a lot of trouble finding good pilates type DVDs. I like Ana Caban pilates DVDs but I find that there isn't a lot of arm workout type stuff on it, mostly just core. I came across this DVD when I searched "arm pilates". I really like it. There are 5 10 minute workouts. Each workout focuses mostly on one area (ex: the first 10 minutes is basically all arms). I watched the DVD before doing the actual workout and it seemed pretty easy. Woah! It was intense. I wouldn't say it is hard, but if you are able to complete the workout you can really feel the burn! I have done this workout 3 times and I already feel a change in my arms. It is much more enjoyable than doing those exercise machines at the gym. To do the workout you need 2 small weights (I am using two pound weights right now and they are killer!) and an exercise band, that comes with the DVD!! In only 10 minutes I toned my arms better than I could in an hour at the gym!! As far as the ab workouts those are really good too. They are the same as most of the pilates workouts I do. One thing I don't like, the guy. He's a little annoying, but if you can get past that this is an excellent DVD! CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is the best DVD for problem areas. I have worked out to a number of DVD's and this hits the spots. It's amazing to finally find something that really does what it says. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This DVD was not worth the money you pay. You don't get anything out of the workouts (and I'm not anywhere near being in great physical shape) and they're difficult to follow. When you do follow along with the moves its hard to tell if the moves were actually a part of the workout itself or if you were still in the warm-up/stretching phase. If you're looking to feel like you've gotten something out of a workout and want to push yourself, look elsewhere. I purchased the 30 day shred along with this and it's kicking my butt. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Overall, I like this DVD. I add the arm segment from Body Sculpt after the two arm segments and my arms are like jelly afterward. However, if I don't add that segment, it is an average arm workout. I was hoping this dvd would make my arms feel like my butt and thighs do after Body Sculpt or Thighs and Glutes, but it falls slightly short. The other Core Fusion workouts are awesome. This one is good. It goes along the same principal as the other DVD's which I like. Controlled movements, breathing and stretching. Non-irritating instructors. I recommend it as an add in to other workouts :) CUSTOMER REVIEW - I really like this DVD. I won't go over the details of each workout since Nancy has done such a great job with that, but here are my thoughts on the DVD. Upper Body Weights: I really enjoyed this segment. If you have the Body Sculpt DVD and use the upper body weight segment from it, this would be a good option to add some variety. I love the 10 minute sessions as I tend to neglect my upper body in my workouts, but it is easy to squeeze this in. If you are looking to make it more difficult, simply add more weight. Easier? Simply use lighter weights. You can also do the second segment. I will also add - I'm in physical therapy currently for my knee so avoid doing standing weights. I was able to complete the majority of the workout while sitting on the edge of a chair. UPDATE: Since there have been some comments about the upper body segments being too easy, I thought it would be helpful to include the amount of weight I am using. I had been lax on my upper body workouts lately so I did this the first two times with 3 lb weights, but now am using 5 lb weights. In the past when I did upper body weights all the time (but not using their DVD), I usually used 10 or 11 lb weights. So, if 5 lbs becomes easy, I will increase the weight to 7 or 8 lbs, etc. The exercises in this routine are traditional exercises just nicely combined into a 10 minute segment. Upper Body with Resistance Band: This is the only segment I have not tried as I was afraid it might bother my knee. Abdominals with Resistance Band: Abdominal Curl with Leg Variations: I really enjoyed these and did both of them together. Although there is a simiilarity between their ab routines, I think these are different enough to make this DVD worth purchasing even if you have the other ones. I really like the Core Fusion ab routines, and since I also have Pilates Plus and Body Sculpt I like that this will give me additional variety. I try to use one of their ab routines three times a week. I think if you do the same routine all the time, your body gets used to it. This shakes things up just enough. UPDATE: The last time I did these two, I did them together again, but I dropped the resistance band for the leg variations segment. It worked just fine without it. Upper Body, Back & Hip Stretches: Wow - I really liked this stretch routine as I do all of their stretch routines. I also have hip dysplasia and as a result it can be painful at times. I really try to work on flexibility for my lower back and hips, and their routines are perfect. I've used this routine a couple times when my hip was a little sore and it felt much better after. BONUS segments: - flat back/rounded back from the Pilates Plus DVD - 8 minute routine from Shiva Rea's Creative Core DVD (I had fun doing this one after the first Core Fusion ab routine.) - NEW 5 minute back routine. This works on both stretches and strength. It is short, but effective. I also give this routine a top rating. If you have Pilates Plus and Body Sculpt and enjoy those, I think this would a good addition and provide some additional variety. If you are new to Core Fusion, the ab routines are quite different than traditional ones with lots of crunch reps. Core Fusion has very long holds, but is very effective. |

Written by the director of ARM’s worldwide academic program, this volume gives computer science professionals and students an edge, regardless of their preferred coding language. For those with some basic background in digital logic and high-level programming, the book examines code relevant to hardware and peripherals found on today's microcontrollers and looks at situations all programmers will eventually encounter. The book’s carefully chosen examples teach easily transferrable skills that will help readers optimize routines and significantly streamline coding, especially in the embedded space. This book is easily adaptable for classroom use. Instructors can access features that include a solutions manual, assembly language basics, problems, and actual code. The book also provides access to a fully functional evaluation version of the RealView Microcontroller Development Kit from Keil. While it is still an important skill, getting good instruction in assembly language is not easy. The availability of languages such as C and Java foster the belief that engineers and programmers need only address problems at the highest levels of a program's operation. Yet, even modern coding methods, when done well, require an understanding of basic assembly methods such as those gained by learning ARM. Certain features that are the product of today’s hardware, such as coprocessors or saturated math operations, can be accessed only through the hardware’s native instructions. For that matter, any programmer wishing to achieve results as exact as his or her intentions needs to possess a mastery of machine code basics as taught in the pages of this book. Of the 13 billion microprocessor-based chips shipped in the last year, nearly 3 billion were ARM-based, making operational knowledge of ARM an essential component of any programmer’s tool kit. That it can be applied with most any language makes it invaluable. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Although the book wasn't out yet, ARM was kind enough to forward me an excerpt and table of contents from the book. This guy is obviously NOT an academic but an engineer. It's easy to read and the book isn't filled with Greek letters just to make it sound scholarly. I like the fact that you get some tools to use with the book, that is very useful. I wish he talked more about how to mix C and assembly together, and there are a couple of examples that could use more explanation, but otherwise, so far I like the style of the writing. The chapter on arithmetic is by far the best explanation I've seen yet on how to play with integer and fractional math. I've never seen that explained anywhere before. And it's not a bad reference, since you get part of the Architectural Reference Manual in the back. As far as textbooks go, this one is very readable, and would definitely help anyone doing ARM related coursework. |

Produced by the architects that are actively working on the ARM specification, this book contains detailed information about all versions of the ARM and ThumbTM instruction sets, the memory management and cache functions, and optimized code examples. Both an architectural overview and programmer's model are presented. Coverage also includes 26-bit architectures and the System Control Coprocessor. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is an architectural reference; it covers the instruction set, exceptions, etc. For that purpose, this is the best book I believe. This is not the technical reference manual; it will not cover the ICE, instruction timings of a given implementation (say, the ARM7TDMI), coprocessors that might be present, etc. For that, the TRM for a part is best; the TRM will in turn not cover architectural issues, such as the instruction set. It also is a bit dated, not covering the newer Cortex chips (i.e. Thumb2). CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is the introductory text that I am using for ARM. Although makes it a bit more difficult to start with such a Reference because often lose "Big Picture" saves buying simpler introductions that can usually be found on internet. Excellent condition. Quick service. CUSTOMER REVIEW - THis was one of the more expensive books I bought for info on the ARM architectures, but I'm disappointed, the book covers just the core ARM architecture and is a few years out of date now too. Its a tough book to write, no doubt, there are so many variations on ARM that its unrealistic to expect them all to be coevered, but I'd like to have seen some more specifics. Most ARM imlementations by the multiple vendors ot there put in a bunch of peripherals, I'd like to have seen some attemtp to address those features better. If you wanted a detailed ARM core reference, it might be the book for you, but bear in mind it doesn;t addres the newer products... CUSTOMER REVIEW - I you plan , or are already developing for arm , than this book is a must have on the bookshelf ! CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a completely adequate reference for the basic ARM architecture, including the Thumb instruction set. This is a reference book, not an instruction manual - you'll probably be happiest with this book if you already know at least one or two other assembly languages. Given that background, you might like the ARM ISP. It's a very regular RISC. The Thumb subset is even more stripped-down, but lets you pack parts of you code almost twice as densely as usual. If you've gotten this far, you already know that there are dozens of ARM implementations, with different add-ons and special features. This, of course, can't handle your special circumstance. Still, it's my favortie presentation of the core ARM instruction set. //wiredweird |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Well, I received the book, and returned it the next day. In my opinion, the book is not worth the $55. I can find all this info from the data sheet (I'm using the STM32 product line and their 1000+ page data sheet covers it all)... Said that, the book does cover a great deal, but again, not worth the high price. CUSTOMER REVIEW - It's a "must-have" book for everybody discovering nuances of ARM Cortex-M3 core processors. Period. Exceptionally well written :-) CUSTOMER REVIEW - I purchased this book despite at least one scathing reviewer's criticism. The Author states specifically in the preface, "This book is intended to be a lighter read for programmers, embedded product designers, System-on-a-Chip (SOC) engineers, electronics enthusiasts, academic researchers, and others with some experience of microcontrollers or microprocessors who are investigating the Cortex-M3 processor." I interpret that to mean the book has a wide audience in mind, some with less experience than others. That said, I found this book to be on par with those written by various authors for the Newness series on Microchips products The book has a good overview of the architecture without focusing on any one vendor's implementation. However, I felt that I would have liked to see a brief comparison of some of the various vendor offerings and what the key architectural components were implemented or left out. It can be argued that a vendor data sheet is the appropriate place for such information; just be aware this book is a general survey. The discussion in the back of the book on the Keil and GNU tool chains turned out to be non-essential for myself as I am using IAR's tool chain. Your mileage may vary. Reason's to purchase this book, in my opinion, are to understand some of the background of the ARM architecture (not a complete review, but enough to understand where the Coretex-M3 fits in to the rest of the ARM series and the odd nomenclature of the ARM series) as well as an overview of how the architecture is put together. Then, a specific vendor's implementation of the ARMv7 can be pursued with a better understanding of what the vendor has implemented and how to use the implementation. (Added 1/20/2009) Note that with the introduction of Atmel's Cortex M3 product line, the popularity of the Luminary/TI Cortex M3 series, and others, this book is one of the few or, perhaps the only, books on the market that helps individuals new to the Cortex M3 get up to speed on the architecture and programming of the Cortex M3. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Great introduction to the M3 architecture. Vital if you are just getting started with ARM MCU's and trying to wade through the Cortex-M3 Technical Reference Manual. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I just recieved this book. This is the book you need if you are going to be doing any sort of serious programming for the Arm Cortex M3 processor. I was reluctant to purchase it because of some of the bad reviews that it recieved. But it does cover a lot of the details of how the hardware functions and programming at the assembly level, which seems to be almost imposible to find anywhere else. I am very happy with this book (I am a long time...30+years micro controller programmer). |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This product really works my arm muscles to fatigue and is a good compliment to lifting weights and working out to get faster results. It is not a miracle product however, and working out is needed to shape and tone the arms. One gripe is that I am female and have a small circumference around my arms. I had to use extra ties to make the arms fit snug on me. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Been using the Flex Pro Arms for a month and can see and feel larger muscles. My arm measurements have gone up 1/2 inch and is firming up the bottom wing part which us girls want. Also use on the top of my legs to give them a work out by adding an extender on the system. Works great. System has lots of power and is made well so I am glad I got it. At 67 I am active playing tennis, dancing, and love to travel so this product is great for my lifestyle. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Regardless of what may have been reported in the press as mentioned in another review, I have personally used this product for months and achieved incredible toning results. My triceps and biceps have grown several inches and the improvement is very noticeable. I've worked my arms off and on over the years using conventional means; e.g., weights, pulleys, machines, etc., and the results I have achieved with this product are at least as good, if not better. I plan to buy another one just to keep it on hand as a backup. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Purchased this product a few days ago and used it for the first time two days ago. I am a long time fan/user of electronic muscle stim as a supplement to my regular workouts, and this product made my arms incredibly sore in the way that lets me know the muscles received a great stimulation. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to add to their routine. A recent article in the Wall Street journal talked about how stim will NOT make you toned but it will make your muscles stronger. I use this product along with a regular gym routine to train my bi's and tri's. |

The story of how Jewish children were sent to Great Britain by their parents during World War II to protect them from Hitler.Genre: DocumentaryRating: PGRelease Date: 29-MAR-2005Media Type: DVD This Academy Award®-winning documentary (produced with the cooperation of the United States Holocaust Museum) chronicles one of the lesser-known stories of the Holocaust: that of the kindertransport, which saved the lives of 10,000 Jewish children. In the late 1930s, England agreed to accept these children seeking refuge from Nazi oppression. They were placed in foster homes and hostels. Narrated by Dame Judi Dench and directed by Mark Jonathan Harris (who received an Oscar® for his 1997 Holocaust documentary The Long Way Home), this devastating and deeply moving film bears witness to the kindness of these "simply wonderful people" and to the resilience of the kinder, now elderly, who recall in haunting stories the unimaginable grief of being suddenly torn from their parents, the trauma of not knowing whether they would ever see them again, and the difficulties some faced in their new homes. Recalls one, "None of the foster parents with whom I stayed could stand me for very long. But all of them had the grace to take in a Jewish child." But despite having their youth uprooted, many possess an indomitable spirit. One woman speaks of devoting her adult life to human rights and social justice causes. "I can't pay back or thank some of the people who helped me," she states, "But I can do something for other people." --Donald Liebenson |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is one of the most powerful documentaries I've seen. Maybe it's because I am a mother of 2 very young boys and also interested in history such as this, but maybe it's because it was creditable in that the documentary contained recounts from the very people who lived through that horrendous, heart-breaking, infathomable time; each person with their own fond memories of their families, their sweet 'favorite' memory, their own emotions, they own worst memory, their own insight into "why" or "what if", their own unanswered questions....so many events and emotions packed into this short film. I agree that I was left wondering about so much more, which I'm sure other such documentaries may (or may not) answer. But for what was offered here, I am grateful and more so to the families involved especially the people who chose to publicize their stories - it could not have been easy. Even though I do not share the culture or heritage, I can say that as a human being I am proud of their spirit and courage and the work some continue to do to make this world a better place. Bravo! CUSTOMER REVIEW - This story is a seldom mentioned but very important part of history. If you care for orphaned or abandoned children, you will find it very interesting how needs for children were solved in past times of crisis. Also interesting is the way ordinary people rose to the need and faced the danger and challenges to themselves and their families. It would be a great history lesson for teaching older children as well. We at Home For Good Foundation recommend "Into the Arms of Strangers" to all who have a passion for children. CUSTOMER REVIEW - i pray that a tragedy like this never occurs again in my lifetime nor in the lifetime of my children and grandchildren. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This product was in perfect shape and shipped quick. It is a truly wonderful film. Thanks! CUSTOMER REVIEW - Imagine being a young child and your parents put you on a train to England to live with people you've never met in a place you've never seen. This is the story of 10,000 children who lived in German-held lands and whose parents sent them to Great Britain with the hopes and prayers that they would have a better chance of surviving the terror and horror the Nazis were already inflicting on Jews and others. Mixing interviews with some of these children and their 'foster' families with rare archival footage, this Oscar winning film for BEST DOCUMENTARY, is a powerful story of the courage of not only these children but their parents who were willing to sacrifice for them. Almost all of these children lost their parents to Nazi atrocities. Some of them were able to help get their parents liberated after they reached England. One girl was pulled out of the window of the train as it was leaving because her father couldn't bear to see her go. She survived eight concentration camps to tell her story. Her parents did not. 1,500,000 children were exterminated by the Nazis. These 10,000 lived because of the compassion and kindness of the citizens of Great Britain. According to the film, a bill in the U.S. Congress died in committee because it was determined that 'adopting' the 25,000 children being proposed was a violation of God's law by separating parents from their children. While many of the films rightly emphasize the horrors of the holocaust, this one shows the goodness of those who gave of themselves so 10,000 children could live. A fascinating and moving film, not like other holocaust films. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I think it is kinda truth in advertising that they named this netbook "aspire" because it sorely misses the mark in two important areas. 1) The wireless modem is just terrible. I don't know what it is.. it is SLOW and unrealable.. have to keep attempting web page loads at times.. I am in the same room with my wireless modem and it still hangs, stalls.. When I plug the land line in everything is fine, so it isn't the computer.. it's the wireless modem. 2) The speakers are a damn joke. the volume on this is SO low that you have to use headphones.. Why bother putting speakers in? I can not understand how this can not be loud enough so that you can watch a movie in a quiet empty hotel room.. But.. you get what you pay for so I guess that I am happy with it despite these shortcomings.. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I wanted a netbook for almost a year, but I kept hesitating to get one due to the price, and in the early days, the tiny hard drives. I didn't need it for school or business, I just wanted it for fun, so it was kind of an expensive indulgence that I was having a hard time justifying. I found this one for under $300 and decided to go for it. I haven't regretted it a day since. In fact, though I initially thought the netbook would just receive "once in awhile" use, I love it so much it has become my main computer, I use it for everything, and I take it with me every where I go (in a padded sleeve, in my purse). It's almost as powerful as, and has almost as big a hard drive as, my former main computer (a 2 1/2 year old Toshiba laptop). Due to the much larger hard drive, I was able to load several programs onto it that I didn't originally plan to have on the netbook, and everything works fine (without a memory upgrade). I don't run any high intensity games, so I can't say how they would do, but I have photo editing software on it, and Audacity (free recording software) with which I record for [...] (volunteers recording public domain texts to make audio books available for free online), and both of them work fine. I type for a living, so a wonky keyboard would have driven me nuts. This is a very nice-sized keyboard. I have no problem typing on it at speed. The screen is very nice. As others mentioned, it's pretty glossy, but I've had no issue with it; the only time it is a problem at all is when I'm outside with the netbook in bright sunlight, but just changing the angle works fine. The only issue I've had with the screen is due to it's small resolution, occasionally I run onto a pop-up dialogue box in a program or on a website that I can't quite see all of, but there's no scroll bar. It is a mild inconvenience, but this has only happened a couple times (and I use the netbook extensively, daily), and it hasn't yet been anything that's caused any real problem ... and I knew when I bought it that it was - obviously - going to have a small screen. That was the point of getting a netbook, it's small size. (And there may well be a workaround for that, I just haven't tried to find out because it hasn't been a big deal). The touchpad has worked fine for me. The battery life is extremely good - when fully charged, it actually has just over 4 hours of juice. I did some research, and read that this type of battery doesn't suffer from that memory loss problem if you charge it without running it clear down first, but what will damage it over time is over-charging it. So I never leave the netbook plugged in when I'm not using it. I plug it in to charge it when the battery gets low, and make sure I unplug it as soon as I can after it reaches full charge. It charges very fast, and so far the battery life has been great. (I've had it about a month) If something happened to this one, I'd replace it with an identical model in a heartbeat. I'd recommend it to my friends. In fact, a friend of mine had one first, and loves it, which is partly what convinced me to buy this one. One last thing, and what prompted me to come write this review today. Last night I knocked over an entire glass of rum and ginger ale right on top of the keyboard and all over the screen. I mean, I saturated the thing. "Panic" doesn't even cover it. I immediately grabbed the netbook and turned it upside down, powered it down, and pulled the battery, then left it sitting upside down for awhile before cleaning it up and putting it back together. I also left it open overnight. I thought for sure it was a goner, and was truly heartbroken, but today - everything works fine! A few keys are a wee bit sticky now, but it's barely noticeable, and that's really the very least of my concerns. Of course, I would not recommend making a habit of keeping beverages sitting anywhere near it or testing this theory (you can bet I learned my lesson!), but I was very impressed with it's durability. Overall - a great netbook at a great price. I am extremely happy with it. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I am not using my Acer as my everyday computer, since my eyes might get tired by the small screen. However, it's been perfect for my traveling needs, so light-weighted and compact in my purse or backpack. Great for that purpose! Long lasting battery also. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a great little netbook. I have one and use it for meetings, catching up on emails, etc. I just bought one for my daughter who travels internationally - great for traveling. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The mini computer is OK, BUT Acer's customer service does not care about there customers. Maybe because their product is purchased from a retailer there don't feel a need to work with or help the comsumer. I have purcased several Acer products in the past, but I will never purchase another. |

This 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data). |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have baught a new Acer one AOD150-1920 Netbook, It comes with pre installed Windows XP. Problem is internet speed. In my Wifi network when I check the download speed for my HP Laptop using site [...] I get 1.30MB/sec. but at the same time for Acer One NetBook download speed is just .12 MB/sec. When I tried by connecting to net using LAN wire still its the same.I have cleaned up the registry.Stopped all unwanted services in back ground. turned off the Power saver mode. Still its same. I can see this difference while downloading any file from internet at the same time in both of my laptops. Can anyone tellsme how much maximum download speed then can achieve with this notebook. I am planning to return this notebook as I am not getting the speed of more then 200KBPS when at the same time oter machine can donload at 1.3 MBPS CUSTOMER REVIEW - I own a number of computers (and have owned and purchased a number of computers in the past--I built one, once upon a time--so I have a pretty good amount of experience with technology. This little guy was my first foray into the realm of netbooks. I have a few friends who have notbooks. They chose others like an Asus or MSI. Though I had an Acer a decade ago--probably longer--and at the time wasn't that impressed, I decided to give this a go as the most solid brand of the ones I was looking at. HP's netbooks were out of the running due to the odd 578 pixel height they were big on at the time. Functionally, a lot of these are going to be the same. A netbook is a netbook is a netbook. They will all have trouble with streaming high resolution stuff from the internet at times. They will all fail at running anything truly complicated. They are all built with essentially the same stuff. If you look at it, 90% of everything is running a 1.6ghz atom. They generally have 1 gig of ram and will accept a 2 gig (do this). They come with a multi-card reader and have 3 USB ports. In this way, you will not find any surprises with the Acer Aspire one. You want to get something that is well built, reliable, and has great battery life. If you were to judge a netbook by these criteria, there is nothing really to be asked for that the Aspire One does not deliver. It has, hands down, the best battery life of any laptop computer I have ever owned or seen. I actually operated one almost continuously on a flight from London to Chicago. This will say '8.5' hours of battery life. This is a little off. If you're doing much on the internet, you'll probably call that like 5-6 hours, but if you're on a plane where that doesn't matter, you can turn off the wifi and it will cap out over 10. Even with its rather large battery, this weighs in a little over 3 lbs. Its light as a feather. Its constructed mostly with a plastic shell. In spite of this, it actually is very attractive and it feels remarkably solid. If you're an idiot like I am, on occasion, and manage to shatter part of your keyboard by dropping something surprisingly heavy on it, you'll actually get the opportunity to see that this is built much like a modern car. The metal is on the inside, and its pretty well organized, tough, solid, and quiet. It does not run very hot. It actually took me a few months to realize there was even a fan in there. Yes, my unit still works in spite of my poor actions. I was actually very sad when I damaged it, but I replaced the keyboard, and now it works very well, still, a testament to its solid construction. Finally, this runs XP like it was made for it (that is XP for the One). I have heard that Windows 7 is also a good fit for netbooks, though I have not yet tried that myself. In closing, I was very much 'out' of the whole Acer brand for a long time, but this One is definitely put me back in the 'in' camp again. This is a very impressive little computer. CUSTOMER REVIEW - As long as you know what to expect, this netbook is perfect. I wanted a light, no-fuss laptop that would run for hours and hours without charging, run a few games, browse the internet, check my e-mail, and maybe take some notes in class and write some papers. This machine does exactly that. First off, it's light. If you've never held a netbook before, it weighs about as much as a small hardcover textbook. I can hold it comfortably with one hand and I don't have to really exert myself at all. It has a phenomenally long battery life: if I turn down the brightness on the display and turn of the wi-fi (like when I'm writing a paper, playing a game, etc) I can easily squeeze 5 or 6 hours out of it. Even though the Aspire One's battery juts out from the chassis -- unlike other netbooks, such as the EEE, whose 6-cell battery is flush with the case -- it's not bulky enough to ever become an issue. Despite the fact that it's running an Intel Atom and has a very underpowered onboard Intel graphics chipset, I can still play plenty of older games on it with no problem. For example, I am running Diablo II and Morrowind (using CD-images mounted to a virtual drive) with no difficulty. Morrowind is about the most powerful game that this machine can run, and even then it's only at about 20-25 fps. But still, it's more than enough to make the game playable. I also grabbed all the old X-Com games off of Steam, and they run well, too, as does Heroes of Might and Magic III. A game I was really hoping would run better, Torchlight, is intermittently playable. I tried to load Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, and while it is technically playable at minimum settings, I think it just has too many things going on at once to allow for any decent performance. I should note, however, that I took the time to drop a 2GB stick of RAM in my machine, and it's a fairly cheap investment for substantial benefits. At the time, I got a deal from Amazon for the netbook, a neoprene sleeve, and the RAM stick for about $350, so it was a no-brainer. If you see a deal like that, it's just about as good as it can get. The wi-fi connectivity is top-notch. It works just as well as my desktop in that regard, and I have had no problems connecting to various wi-fi hotspots around town. The browsing is fast, and with a fast browser like Opera 10.5 or Chrome there's basically no delay in surfing at all. As an "office" or "student" computer, I have mine running the Open Office suite and while it takes marginally longer to load than it does on my desktop, the difference is barely noticeable. Other programs load with minimal fuss, and again, while there is a small performance hit compared to a high-end laptop or a mid-range desktop like mine, as long as you aren't trying to do too much it works fine. I can keep multiple PDF files open simultaneously along with word processing software without suffering too much. I also used Wubi to dual-boot into Xubuntu in a virtual environment, and it works fantastically -- but then again, most Linux distros work great on most computers. Ergonomically, the computer is very pleasing. I have relatively large hands, and with just a little bit of adjustment I can use the keyboard better than I can on many other "full-sized" laptops. The touchpad was a little frustrating at first, but after I adjusted some of the settings and disabled some of the autoscroll options, I found it to be pretty good. For games, though, I still prefer a cheap optical mouse with a retractable cord. I have had no major problems with any part of this computer, mechanically or otherwise. Unlike most new computers, it's not saturated with bloatware, so I didn't even have to do my customary reformat/reinstall out-of-the-box. I have dropped the machine a few times without incident, and while it's not as bad as the glossier machines it is noticeable (especially on the screen) when fingers have been touching it. I haven't really used the webcam or microphone, but I did test the webcam and I'm sure that it would be more than sufficient for almost any of my conceivable purposes. All in all, this machine is exactly what I wanted when I thought about getting a netbook. It's lean and just powerful enough for my purposes, but not so powerful that it drains the batteries overmuch. It's small and compact, but just big enough to use comfortably. I could scarcely imagine a machine better suiting my intended purposes. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I love my tech toys -and over the years I've had my share- but the Aspire One netbook is far and away my favorite of all of them. Purchased 11 months ago, I found it was as quick in windows as any pc I ever had. The touchpad, the keyboard, the lcd screen (GREAT for full-screen netflix watching) are all top-notch. And the battery life? Amazing with the 5800 MaH 6-cell. The big battery actually balances the computer in such a way that it makes it very stable when opened on practically any surface. I have found other netbooks, including the popular Asus EEE, to be not nearly as well-balanced. Upgrading to 2 MB memory was easy enough. I know I'm not the only one who uses my netbook from sunup to sundown and couldn't live without the amazing little appliance any more. A few weeks ago the screen froze and then wouldn't reboot back into windows without using safe mode. The outsourced phone support was helpful and competent and I was back up and running (albeit with a clean reinstall) in a very short time. Then last week it didn't go into standby after closing it up and was blazing hot and wouldn't turn on the next morning. One call to support and ten minutes later and I was packing up the netbook for a return under warranty. Hopefully the repair will go without a hitch and I'll be back up and running. So far I have been pleased with Acer support. My previous laptop purchase was a bargain-basement Acer and it was a poorly built and designed product. The Acer Aspire One netbook couldn't be more opposite. Without question my next netbook purchase will be an Acer. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Acer will try to charge you for any issues with your netbook, and there will probably be many if you have the same experience I did. Being under warrenty means nothing to them. Plus, their tech service is generally not very competent. For example, they keep asking me about recovery discs, but netbooks do not have optical drives. They can advise for Vista and XP, but not Windows 7, etc. Poor product and poor service means 1 star (0 stars, if could.) Dear Acer: why should I ever buy another product from you or Gateway again? |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - The adapter that arrived says "Dell" on the bottom, but the voltage is the correct and the jack fits perfectly into my Acer Aspire One. Although it was not in the image, it did come with the cord connecting the power adapter to the wall as detailed in the description. I would have given five stars, but both the cord from the wall to the adapter and the adapter to the computer are quite a bit shorter than my original Acer adapter. Otherwise, it works just fine. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I started to second guess ordering this item based on the one bad review that was here. However, I ordered it anyhow - taking a chance. I bought it for my Dell Mini 9 laptop. Woo! It works perfectly. I am giving it 5 stars because for the price - it can't be beat. Again, it works perfectly with my Dell Mini 9. No problems at all. CUSTOMER REVIEW - If I had an option to give them NO STARS, I WOULD. Unfortunately, that's not an option. Waited for the item to come in, and when it did, it didn't even work as it supposedly claimed it did. I purchased this item for a cousin who's netbook model was listed on their list of what the adapter would work for. When it didn't work, I was able to return it for a refund and thought "great, that was easy". WRONG...I waited 3 weeks without getting anything. So when I contacted them, they didn't know why I didn't receive. Emails were exchanged back and forth with no answers until I suggested for them to look it up to see if and when/whom they sent it out to. Surprise, surprise, they didn't even issue it to the right person or mailed it to the right address. I mean, the "BILLER's INFORMATION" is collected for a reason right?? So when crap like this happens, the RIGHT person gets the refund. And it's not like my info wasn't on the return package. Apparently, they didn't understand that, so what are they going to do about it?? Send me a "FREE GIFT" (worth $2 by the way) for my inconvenience. Thanks, let's hope this "FREE GIFT" works, and if not, I wonder if I can return it for another one.... |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have a 11.6 Acer netbook I needed to put a program on it but had no CD dock, With the exterior CD Driver the netbook worked like a normal laptop. Worked great with no problems, I would recommend it to anyone that has a netbook. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I give this device good marks on all except 2 items. One is the DVD SPeed is only 8X. Second, since there are absolutely NO instructions (or paperwork of any kind) in the box, you have to go to [...] to figure out what you need and how to work the Lightscribe aspects. You need 2 software programs. One for the lightscribe directly and the other disc labeling software can be free or included w/some Burner programs. BUt, for the money, it is worth every penny. Paying two or 3 times the price for a faster (more documented) device, is only a luxury. And not really necessary unless you plan on doing A LOT of DVD burning. I will be using it mostly to back up my netbook and occassional copying for music discs, etc. Basically, very happy with this purchase. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Initially there was a delay in delivery of my external drive due to supplier sending to the wrong address. after emailing the supplier, this was corrected and i received my external drive a week later. It works just fine I have been able to burn DVDs and CD without any problems. It works great!! CUSTOMER REVIEW - just plug in the power and the usb and this drive is ready to go CUSTOMER REVIEW - Excellent product for my use. good value, easy to use. Thanks, |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Pleasantly surprised with a great carrying case Got this for the kindle which I have in a folder style case. The folders are great for carrying around indoors. Needed something to put folder case w/kindle in. I can easily put the whole package in this small padded briefcase for travel, and bad weather conditions. I believe I could drop my kindle since it is in two cases and also surrounded by foam padding (not that I'm going to drop it). Has a small handle (just right) and a small compartment that is also padded (again just right). Looks like would also work very well for a small net book. Nice product. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The internal straps for the top of the netbook do not hold it in place when tis put inside the case. The back part of the cover flops off -- making in-case use possible but awkward. Seems like this bag would be better for a 10.1 inch. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I use this for traveling with my Acer computer. Great PROTECTION of your Acer computer. Most important - has a pouch for your cords, I even put my baby mouse in there too. I bought one without a pouch for cords, and returned it. Been using a few month, and definitely would buy again. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I recieved this puch about a week ago and am very pleased. It is exactly as described and well made. All my stuff fits, mouse, powercord, and a small gamepad(mouse sized). Very Pleased. Eric CUSTOMER REVIEW - I searched for quite a while and finally decided on this case for my netbook. This case is well constructed and fits my Acer 8.9" w/ three cell battery very nicely. In the pocket I can fit the AC adapter, earbuds, USB cable, and a wireless notebook mouse without having to "cram" them in or strain to close the zipper. The case looks great and I am happy to carry it into any situation - business or social. All in all, an excellent value. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Acer wanted over 100 dollars to repair a cracked screen - found this and spent about 30 minutes slowly doing the replacement. It worked great from the get go - very pleased and wife is very pleased that her netbook is back up... CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is a great screen, worked perfectly with the ACER ONE 8.9" netbook. This screen is brighter and more colorful than the original OEM Acer screen. The company was great about answering my questions accurately and promptly. The screen changeout went really well too, nothing to it. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - The cover looks nice, but I had trouble every time, keeping it on the netbook. This was kind of dangerous because the netbook could slip out and fall off your lap if you weren't paying attention. I ended up taking it off when I was using the netbook and eventually buying another case. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I talked my Dad into getting himself a netbook for his birthday. He's a Mac guy, writes software, and needed a PC to test some of his creations for Windows. But he didn't need $1000 worth of PC, and he certainly didn't need it to take up any space. So he got an Acer netbook. Maybe he'll get adventurous and Hackintosh it one day. But in the meantime, when he wants to take it with him, he's got this nifty case, thanks to moi! And my Mom says he just loves it and it lets him take his Acer netbook with him everywhere. |

Ask About PHP: PHP Basics: Accessing Remote URLs using cURL
In this new post to the Ask About PHP blog they take a look at one of the basics of using PHP - fetching the data from a remote URL via the cURL extension.
In PHP, there are actually four ways to access a remote URL - fopen() fsockopen(), cURL extensions and HTTP_Request class from the PEAR library. Now, choosing one way over another really depends on your needs for simplicity, control, and portability. Generally, I prefer using cURL simply because it's easy to understand and it's really powerful.
You'll need to have cURL enabled to be able to follow along. The examples show how to fetch a single remote page, a protected remote page, sending a POST request and fetching the URL with custom headers.

|
CUSTOMER REVIEW - Here's my simple review of this Sony TV. General outline of features: 1080p resolution Picture adjustments Audio adjustments (synthetic surround sound, bass, treble) USB device support HDMI x4 ECO-friendly options (power save level I and II) Ambient sensor The picture quality is outstanding, there are numerous adjustments to make the picture look the way you want. Other adjustments include audio and settings for features. Full HD 1080p only makes it look even better. Sony advertises this TV with the "ambient" sensor that detects the lighting situation in your room so that it adjusts the backlight of the TV to compensate. I did some tests with the sensor on or off and it didn't make that much of a difference but the ambient sensor does work, it will decrease the backlight of the TV if you're in a dark room (or at night) and increase it if the room is lit up. Features also included with this TV is the ability to play music, photos and videos from a USB device which is great but I don't see myself using it. The thing that stands out with this TV set is its design. It looks like a piece of art once you remove the packaging materials. There are an influx of ports and connections on the rear and side. Component, composite, HDMI, Audio, VGA, you name it, it will have most likely have it. My only two minor gripes about this TV is that the tuning is responsiveness of the TV's menu and tuning is fairly slow. It's not slow to the point where it bothers you but I'd say from the moment you push the channel up button on the remote until the time it actually displays the picture is around 2-3 seconds. It's not bad but its a minor gripe of mines. Another gripe I have about this TV is the price. It's certainly on the costly side for this class of TV but I believe it makes up for it in the design aspect. So if you're willing to spend a little more money to get a TV that actually looks great, this TV is a good choice. Overall, this TV is great for the person who is willing to spend a little more money to get something that looks great without sacrificing picture quality. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - So I bought this tv without reading a single review, because there wasn't any. I wanted specifically a 32" 120hz set because it is going to be in a small room, any bigger would have been overkill, and this fit the bill. I upgraded from a Samsung 26" 720p (LN26A330), which I had no complaints at all about, but really wanted 1080p since this is hooked up to a home theatre/gaming pc and I could use the extra resolution. I compared these tv's side by side after getting the sony, and was really surprised how much better the sony's picture was (I was using 720p on both for fair comparison, playing identical sources). Pros -Very bright picture, which is good for the day time -Blu Rays do look amazing, just adjust the settings to personal preference -True Cinema 24p mode does seem to play movies at true 24p (I set the htpc output to 24hz to accomplish this) -Motionflow works really nicely on some blu-rays, definitely not for all movies though, but I actually do prefer it over True Cinema 24p in a lot of cases -PC games look very good with motionflow turned on, especially FPS's. Motionflow makes 60fps look like 120fps and you can tell a difference in how clear and smooth everything is. -Extremely energy efficient, uses only 40w in power saving mode, ~75w normal mode (this is better in both categories than my 26" samsung, which amazed me!) Cons -Speakers on my old samsung might have been a little better, its hard to tell for sure, but its not a big difference. -Very minor, I wish a single button could turn motionflow on and off instead of navigating menus Overall, I am really happy with this set. If you like 24p true cinema and/or motionflow and are willing to pay a little extra, I'd recommend it. If your not that concerned with those features, I would probably get a less expensive 60hz set, but I am glad I got this one. btw, make sure you don't don't turn Cinemotion to auto1 if Motionflow is already on. It gives movies a really strange effect, like your hallucinating or something. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - excellent visual and ease of use....Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S5100 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black CUSTOMER REVIEW - I purchased this television in March of 2009, and have had nothing but sound and pictures issues with it. The sound goes out and will come back on in 10-15 seconds. The picture sometimes goes out when switching from HDTV to a regular channel, or I get half a picture. I did the software update, but that did not help the problems. Sony sent me a refurbished television and it had the same exact problems. I offered to pay the difference on a newer model, but they refused to do it. It is apparent that Sony does not stand behind their products. There are serious issues with this model, and no amount of replacements or software updates is going to fix it. I own two Sony cameras and a blue ray player, but will never purchase another Sony product. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this product without first checking the reviews at Amazon.com (big mistake). Installed it at home in bedroom, mounted it on the wall, etc. Seemed OK. Then, I used it late at night when others at my home were sleeping. I used it at low volume levels (1,2,3,4,5). At these low volume levels, the TV sounds terrible. It sounds like you're tuning into a radio station with poor reception: staticy, crackly, etc. Not just "bad" but "terrible." As a result, I can't use this TV at night unless its on MUTE. Not a joke. So, I go online to see if others have experienced this. Well, what do you know? A handful of people report here on Amazon that they've had the same problem. They explain that Sony ships them a replacement unit that exhibits the same problem. Some say they have tried MULTIPLE replacement units. Some have had a technician come to their home, verify the problem, but offer no acceptable solution. So, repeating history, I call Sony, have a replacement unit sent to me, and guess what? It exhibits the same problem. I update the firmware, same problem. So, I call Sony back and politely explain the situation. Their response? They can send me ANOTHER replacement unit (the propose the same "solution" and they expect different results!?!?) or have a technician come out to investigate. I am on hold and on the phone with their reps for HOURS. I tell them I just want a TV that works. I tell them to give me a different TV model as a replacement unit (even a lesser quality unit). I don't care if it is new or refurbished. They say NO. I tell them that what will likely happen (based on my experience reading customer reviews at Amazon.com) is that they will send me another replacement unit and it will exhibit the same problem. I ask them: "what will you do if I order and return replacement units each week for the next 5 weeks?" No answer. They tell me that they are not aware of this audio issue. They say that they don't have any service bulletins on the subject. I tell them that there are about 10 reviews on Amazon.com that specifically discuss this exact audio issue. They explain that they do not have access to Amazon.com. I realize that I have more information about the quality and problems of Sony products than the most senior customer service reps at Sony. SONY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. Here is a well-documented problem, and they have no process (or maybe willingness) to recognize the problem internally. So here I go. They will be sending out a technician. I don't have to predict what happens because IT IS ALREADY DOCUMENTED VIA OTHER CONSUMER REVIEWS AT AMAZON.COM. I wish I ran a popular blog with millions of users and had the ability to attract the attention of Sony management. I hope this posting isn't ignored by Sony like the other similar postings for this exact same product. I will never again buy a Sony product. Their products have problems (OK, it happens) BUT they have a broken customer support process. As far as I am concerned, they are DELIBERATELY ignoring their customers. $#$%$ Sony. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Not a lot to say since I own 4 Sony Bravias now, I kind of knew what I was getting. I use this particular one for my desk at the office and it works perfect through the VGA @ 1920x1080. Everything is clear and it fits the entire screen. I don't use the TV speakers so I have no complaints about the sound however other reviewers are really complaining about this "sound issue" and rightfully so according to their reviews. I would be careful of that but as for everything else, the TV works as intended. Minor note - initially for some reason I kept getting a "no signal" error on my screen even though my pc card was actually pushing the signal (it was set up as a multiple display and I could pan my mouse over to the Bravia). Other than a few minor hiccups it's worked perfectly. I just thought I would note that and that it has been working just fine since. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have no idea what ppl are talking about with the sound issues? I've had mine for 5 months now with not one problem. The sound is just fine. I'm no its not a sound system, but for speakers on a tv they are very loud. I keep mine usually at the 13 setting. The picture quality is great! |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Pros: An excellent TV. The picture is awesome. Very good viewing angle. I have never seen a 32" TV display HD content so well. The menu options are vast. The colors are deep, rich , and vivid (pun intended). Also, Sony's vivid color mode has been improved greatly (tried it on a 2005 TV, the colors looked cartoonish). The USB ports are awesome. Simply plug in a USB stick, and show off your pictures, or play your music. Cons: Well, the sound is OK. but, honestly, what they heck are you expecting out of that little speaker? The default color settings were AWFUL. This thing required quite a bit of calibration to get it looking like it should (if anybody wants the settings, reply with a comment, and I will give them). The picture out of the box is why I docked this a star. Other thoughts: As said many times before - UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE. The download is available from Sony. CUSTOMER REVIEW - My family has been buying Sony TVs since the mid-1960s. I already own two Sony Tube TV but decided it was time to purchase a new flat screen TV. I purchased a Sony Bravia XBR KDL-32XBR9 based on my past experience with Sony products and consumer reviews. I put the new TV in my remodeled kitchen - the picture quality was great. Unfortunately, I lost the picture within a month. It seems the HDMI connections failed. I notified Sony Customer Service and within a week a technician came out and replaced the circuit board. The TV was back in business; however, within another month or so, the HDMI failed again. I notified Sony Customer Service again and they promptly came out and fixed it again. This time I wasn't too happy so I wrote to the head of Sony USA and complained. I said while the Customer Service was great, I wasn't happy that a new TV would fail so soon. I wrote that I've bought 5 Acura cars since their inception and Apple Computer products since 1989 and none of these products have ever failed like my new XBR. I also explained that while Sony does offer a refurbished TV in place of a problem TV under warranty that wasn't the point and explained that if I wanted a refurbished TV I would have bought one - I bought a new TV and expected it to work. After the head of Sony USA received my letter I got a phone call from a Customer Service Rep. She acknowledged my complaint and said because of my problem that Sony was going to extend my warranty for another six months. I told the rep while that was nice it doesn't do me any good since I already have Sony Extended Warranty coverage. Well to make a long story short, the HDMI connection has failed for a third time last week. I put another call into Sony Customer Service using the so-called special phone number the last Customer Rep gave me. The new rep that answered the phone reviewed my case and then came back on the line and said because of the problems my TV was having, he would have to turn the problem over to a special group. The rep said the someone from the new group would contact me in a day or so. Well, that day or so has come and gone. So much for ever buying another Sony product. This TV gets one star for looks and nothing more. Now I know why DirecTV engineering no longer uses Sony TVs. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this from Amazon.com in December 2009 for $699. Upsides: Sleek look, nice menus, beautiful pictures. Can't wait to check out Blu-ray on this. I like that it passes optical audio out; don't know if that's standard these days but I can see that will be useful when paired with an audio system. Love the picture- and sound-tweaking options. Downsides: Start-up delay (10-12 sec?), displays infobar at the top each time resolution is switched (480/720/1080), which is annoying when using it with a native-output DVR. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is the first flat screen HDTV that I have ever purchased. I, like many others looking for HDTVs, did a lot of research before finding "the one". I'm extremely satisfied with this as my first purchase. I've owned it for a little over 2 months now and have gotten a lot of use out of it already. Right out of the box the TV not only looked great but had a sturdy feel to it. This is a well designed TV and doesn't feel flimsy or cheaply made. Other reviewers are complaining about some of the inputs being on the side of the TV - it's not a problem. There is enough of a gap between the inputs and the edge of the TV where any cables plugged into the side inputs can be neatly tucked around and behind. The picture quality is amazing. Playing PS3 and XBOX 360 via HDMI looks phenomenal. Bluray movie and picture quality is amazing as well. I also have this thing doubling as a computer monitor via HDMI. There is a small ghosting effect on dark areas but I'm not surprised by that; this wasn't purchased with the intent of a gaming monitor for my computer but it's amazing how fun games are on a screen this big. Watching streaming HD content off the internet looks great too. The fact that this is 1080p and also 120hz makes just about anything look spectacular on here. There really is nothing bad to say about the picture quality on this set. All Sony Bravia television sets that I've viewed I have been very impressed with the picture quality. The sound is something that I was a little disappointed on. The built in sound on the TV isn't bad by any means, however, it's not great either. You can't turn the volume up too loud otherwise the sound will really begin to distort. Low and mid volumes are the best way to listen with just the built in speakers. I eventually plugged into an external sound system and it sounds much better that way. I would recommend future (and current) owners to go this route to get the best sound quality. Other various built in features I think are a nice compliment to the set. The menu functions are easy to use and navigate through. There are a lot of options to change around and edit, which is a nice bonus I think. The remote isn't bad either. I didn't order a firmware update from Sony but instead downloaded the latest firmware from their website and installed it myself. Wasn't difficult at all - the directions online to do this are easy enough to follow. Overall I'm incredibly satisfied with my purchase. I would definitely purchase another one of these if given the opportunity, and would definitely recommend this set. I was on the fence for several weeks deciding on which HDTV to get. If you're looking for something you will really get your money's worth from - get this TV and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. :) CUSTOMER REVIEW - This was a Christmas gift to my daughter and her family. The report I received was very positive. I was told the image of the Wii games they play makes it look like real life "When playing golf, you can see every blade of grass." "We Love it!" |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have a Samsung 52" TV that works well with this stand. It looks great and has lots of room for extra electronics plus you can't beat the price. The instructions sucked but if you have a little common sense, you won't have much trouble. I think if you have a TV bigger than a 52" or much heavier, you might want to check some other options but it is stong enough to handle what I have. CUSTOMER REVIEW - A well manufactured glass and steel construction TV cabinet. The display heighth is fixed and not much of a plus over just having the TV resting on its normal stand. I have a 2009 50" TOC Samsung Plasma display, and while it fits the rack stand with the hardware included, the Plasma seems to be too heavy for this unit--listing about 5 degs forward. I have maybe 6" of clearance from the top shelf with the TV loaded. The supports are 2 metal rods hidden w/in the alumnium posts you see at the back of the pix. There are 2 tension rods, about 32" height, that are screwed-in bottom and bolted at top over the surrounded aluminum shell. I'm thinking about removing the upper display rack and just using the old stand and placing on the top shelf. The cable mgmt is a bit misleading since you cannot run wires through the alumnimum posts; the glass shelves do not have holes to pass the wires through. Depth of the shelves could be a little more (my sound system and cable box barely fit depth-wise). The instructions are just schematics but it isn't difficult to put together. It's heavy. Overall, for the price it looks quite nice and does the job; wish the support was a little more sturdy. The packaging was excellent. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This stand is a great piece of furniture for your large TV, but the instructions for assembly are VERY poorly written and difficult to understand. I had to go to the picture of it on Amazon in order to see HOW to put it together. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Great stand, exactly what I was looking for. However, IMPOSSIBLE to read and understand directions. Might has well been in Japanese (I don't speak or read Japanese). Only way I was able to assemble stand was by looking at the picture and trial and error. Directions are absolutely useless. Good luck putting it together, but once it is together, LOOKS AMAZING! CUSTOMER REVIEW - THIS STAND IS AWESOME. VERY EASY TO INSTALL (ABOUT 45 MIN.). JUST LOOKS AWESOME WITH THE PLASMA ATTACHED. I BOUGHT AN LG 50" AND IT FITS PERFECTLY. ALL THE HARDWARE IS INCLUDED. VERY NICE QUALITY, NOT THE CHEAP CRAPPY STUFF U SEE AT OTHER PLACES. GET IT U WILL ENJOY IT. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - beware don't buy from this seller! liars! bad communication and they refused to fix my product so instead they cut the wires and returned it to me and blamed me for cutting wires. they left me with no choice to ever be able to return the item. very mad! i only had it for less then 30 days. stay away! CUSTOMER REVIEW - I puchased this a couple of weeks ago and recently had them installed in a BMW X3 (SUV). These are a great value for aftermarket dvd players, I did a lot of review/research and nothing beat this deal. They look and play great; I'm sure they will get a ton of quality viewing time for the kids and hopefully a little bit of peace for the parents in the front seat. I tried out the game feature and they are pretty old school, I wouldn't expect these to entertain serious gamer type kids for very long, but it's a nice added feature that most didn't have. Product also comes with a remote control which is a nice if you have little ones that can't operate the video's on their own. I'm not a handy person, so I called around for installation and in my area (SF) labor is pretty expensive (I had several quotes for $250); so I purchased an installation card from Crutchfield for $160. I would recommend this option if you're like me, they will hook you up with a local install shop and mine turned out very professional. My only minor ding about the product is the post of the headrest are smaller than the factory post so the shop had to compensate for that, basically using electrically tape to make the product snug. Anyway overall I was able to get a really nice DVD system for a excellent price and very happy with the purchase. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - It's a cable, it's pretty simple. Occasionally, it doesn't seat quite right and you get a very pink screen, but it's easily fixed. What isn't mentioned, however, is that XMB and videos will run on the composite side, but games require progressive scan, therefore the component side. Just to warn anyone expecting to play PSP games on an SDTV. Aside from that, it's a lot of fun and definitely worth the extra price you pay for it. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This Prodact looks grate but when you conect it to the tv the pic. is not good it harts your eys too look on the tv with this cable |
