I have owned this printer for just under a month, so I cannot speak to toner usage or reliability. That said, my initial experience has been fabulous. The printer is inexpensive. I purchased mine on sale for under $200. Ease of set up was remarkable given that I use Mac OS 10.6, and nothing is ever easy when dealing with PC peripherals. In any event, the printer worked the first time with the software in the box, no problems whatsoever. Print quality for documents is excellent. Faxes load smoothly, and scanning to a Mac is a breeze. I previously had a Brother MFC and the fax feed worked poorly, and forget about scanning. I could never get the scan function to work with the Mac OS. For the price, this is really an outstanding printer.

I'm sorry I bought this printer. I guess it's my fault for not looking into it enough. First, if I'd realized that you can't refill the cartridges because of chips on the cartridges and inside the printer--that would have nixed it right there. How amazingly petty that a company would do that. The toner cartridges are very small, and hold very little toner. And as insult to injury, they cost through the nose. I curse Samsung every time I have to buy another one. When making copies, the "lighter" and "darker" settings are levels below in the menu, and very inconvenient to get to. If I hadn't just bought this several months ago, I'd look for a different printer.

I have a small business and purchased this printer over a year ago. The first problem I ran into was that every time I attempted to send a fax, it would say memory was full. Would clear memory and attempt to send the fax, two pages, and would again get this message. It would also not receive faxes and the few times I would get a fax sent the receiver would call to say it was too dark and could not be read. I set up my old inkjet all in one for faxes. After about 8 months, scanner stopped working. Called into Samsung support and told them the problem with faxing and scanning. They diagnosis a bad scanner and agreed to send someone out to replace it and the person would call within 2 days. To make a long story short, it took almost 3 months and hours on the phone to support to get the repair done. Service guy did not contact me for a week until I contacted Samsung, then kept saying he had not received the part while Samsung said he had. Twice the wrong part was sent and the second time the service guy did not contact Samsung to report the wrong part had been sent, a second time, but said the service had been completed. Samsung then said they would have to set up a new service order. In the mean time I had to use my old inkjet. Takes at least a minute to print or copy, slower than my inkjet. Still can not use the fax feature. Often scanned documents come out lighter and setting up darker image does not fix the problem. It has saved me money as I was buying new ink every month or two and went a year before having to replace toner on this machine. I purchased a laser printer to increase speed of printing and copying, decrease number of machines I have to use and decrease cost of printing and copying. This machine met one of three of my needs and with poor support from Samsung gets a low rating. I would not buy this product again.
