right charger did not work at all – Susan L. Miecznikowski – hammond indiana
ordered charger no problem with delivery when it came pluged it in it did not work at all had it checked to make sure it was bad and it was. did not send it back because it would cost more to ship and the restocking fee then to just pitch it in the garbage. wont order from this company again
perfect – Donetta Jamieson – Oklahoma, USA
exactly what i needed. works great! great price compared to the 80.00 best buy wanted
Buyer beware – read and believe the reviews – R. Morales – Los Angeles, CA
I should have read and believed the poor reviews. The dongle on this unit began loosening a couple of weeks after we got it. Didn’t think anything of it – until it got worse and worse. Finally, 2 1/2 months after my purchase, i contacted the seller, asking for a replacement dongle. My thinking? Any reasonable business would, at least, have enough confidence in their product to offer a 90 day warranty. Not this one. The company said ‘no can do’ because the unit only has a 30-day warranty, but they would be willing to sell me a replacement dongle. Disappointing to say the least. So, my words of advice to you, go elsewhere to purchase your HP replacement unit, or you will be wasting your hard-earned $$ like many of us did.

Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive) Review
Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)
- Redesigned MacBook with thin, strong aluminum unibody frame and 15-inch LED-backlit glass display
- New glass trackpad with 40 percent more tracking area and supports more Multi-Touch gestures
- 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 320 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM (max), DVD/CD SuperDrive
- Dual NVIDIA graphics (integraed and discrete); Draft-N Wi-Fi; Bluetooth 2.1; Gigabit Ethernet; Mini DisplayPort video output
- Preloaded with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system and iLife ‘08 suite of applications
Machined from a single piece of aluminum, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is thinner, more powerful, and years ahead of its time. The stunning, ultrathin LED-backlit display gives you instant full screen brightness. The NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT graphics processors provide the perfect combination of power and efficiency for everyday tasks as well as 3D games and graphics-intensive applications like Aperture and Motion. And the all-new Multi-Touch trackpad has no separate button. The entire smooth glass surface is the button, so it’s clickable everywhere. This larger trackpad brings more room, more functionality, and more Multi-Touch gestures to fingers. At less than an inch thin and 5.5 pounds, it isn’t just the next-generation MacBook Pro, it’s the next generation of notebooks. Actual weight varies by configuration and manufacturing process. 21GB = 1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity less.Redesigned with a precision unibody enclosure crafted from a single block of aluminum, the MacBook Pro is thinner and lighter than its predecessor as well as stronger and more durable. But Apple didn’t stop innovating with the body’s design. The MacBook Pro also includes a new 15-inch, LED-backlit glass display (instead of an LCD panel) and a glass trackpad that doesn’t include a button (for larger tracking area) and features includes Apple’s Multi-Touch technology.

The redesigned MacBook Pro (see larger version).
Under the hood, the MacBook Pro is powered by a powerful 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (with 6 MB L2 cache and 1066 MHz front-side bus), which runs applications faster and more efficiently as well as helps to reduce power requirements and save on battery life. And the MacBook Pro includes two video processors for ultimate flexibility: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics for great everyday performance and NVIDIA 9600M GT discrete graphics for fast, smooth video–perfect for 3D gaming.
It’s pre-loaded with Apple’s Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, which enables easy backup of your most important data via Time Machine, a redesigned desktop that helps eliminate clutter. It also comes with the iLife ‘08 suite of applications–including iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, and iTunes–and the newest version of the fast-loading Safari web browser. Other hardware features include a 320 GB hard drive, 4 GB of installed RAM (maximum capacity), an 8x combo Superdrive (for burning dual-layer DVDs as well as CDs), built-in Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), FireWire 800 port, Mini DisplayPort video output (for DVI and VGA connections), and an ExpressCard/34 expansion card slot for expansion solutions such as 3G wireless networking.
The New MacBook Pro Design
Traditionally notebooks are made from multiple parts. With the new MacBook all of those parts with just one part–the breakthrough unibody enclosure. Every MacBook Pro starts its life as a single block of aluminum, which is precisely machined into the basic unibody design. Another pass and the unibody takes shape. Another, and the integrated keyboard emerges. When you pick up a new MacBook Pro, you immediately notice the entire enclosure is thinner and lighter. And it feels strong and durable–perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack.

The standard aluminum electro-static trackpad has been replaced with a new glass Multi-Touch trackpad, which provides 40 percent more tracking area than before. Use two fingers to scroll up and down a page. Pinch to zoom in and out. Rotate an image with your fingertips. Swipe with three fingers to flip through your photo libraries. Swipe with four fingers to show your desktop, view all open windows, or switch applications. The entire trackpad surface is also a button, allowing you to both track and click virtually anywhere on the trackpad. And you can easily enable multiple virtual buttons in software, such as right-clicking.
The keyboard has also been improved, with the rigid aluminum keyboard webbing cut precisely to hold the keys, which are curved to perfectly fit fingers. And it’s illuminated, so when you’re in low-light settings, such as airplanes or conference rooms, you can always see what you’re typing.
The 15-inch display is made of edge-to-edge, uninterrupted glass for a smooth, seamless surface and features LED backlighting for brilliant instant-on performance that uses up to 30 percent less energy than its predecessor. The ultra-thin displays provide crisp images and vivid colors which are ideal for viewing photos and movies

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
Experience improved energy efficiency, expanded wireless connectivity, and amazing battery life with the 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which has a super-fast 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an extra-large 6 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The new hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–conserves even more energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet. With 6 MB of shared L2 cache, data and instructions can be kept close to the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance and allowing the entire system to work more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens to be idle.
Video Processing & Output
The new MacBook Pro combines the efficiency of an integrated graphics processor with the desktop-class performance of a discrete graphics processor thanks to the inclusion of both. Out of the box, it runs the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M processor, which provides plenty of performance for everyday use with up to 5 hours of battery life. But when you need turbocharged performance for the most graphically intensive tasks, the discrete NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT processor delivers–such as for demanding 3D games like Quake, Call of Duty, and Spore. And thanks to a new graphics architecture, it’s easy to switch between these two processors. The 9400M graphics processor shares 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM with main memory, while the 9600M provides 512 MB of dedicated GDDR3 video memory.

The MacBook Pro includes a next generation Mini DisplayPort, which delivers a pure digital signal that can drive up to a 30-inch widescreen display. The Mini DisplayPort is ultra-compact at just 10 percent the size of a full DVI connector, and is compatible with Apple’s 24-inch Cinema Display. Adapters are also available for using VGA, DVI/HDMI and Dual-Link DVI displays
Hard Drive and Memory
The 320 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data–akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 4 GB of PC3-8500 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1024 MB) has an industry-leading 1066 MHz speed, and it maximizes capacity for this notebook.
Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it’s also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.
Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the glass display is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.

Review by R. Layne for Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)
Rating:
I’m not a gamer so this review may not be helpful to those who want a computer to play games.
I have worked as a professional software developer/architect for 17 years. I started with MSDOS 2.0 and have ridden the Microsoft wave all the way through Vista 64 and I had a few years with UNIX. I have personally owned or worked with computers from Dell, HP, Compaq, IBM. I have heard of Apple products but for the most part dismissed them as more toy than tool. (I was not alone in this perspective.) I like Microsoft but after working with it for the better part of 20 year I decided to look at something different.
I never thought I would purchase an Apple yet here it is. I am impressed to say the least and I see Apple as a serious tool that also makes a cool toy.
Pros:
Lightweight – Probably the lightest laptop I’ve ever worked with or owned
Solid – Normally when you get laptops at 15.4 or larger, chassis flex becomes evident as you can see them bend and they creak. Yet because of its single piece construction and light weight aluminum the MacBook feels good when you need to move it. I doesn’t creak and there is no noticeable bend when lifted.
Battery Life – It just keeps going, and going, and going… Actually I am seeing up to 4 hours life on the fully charged battery. My previous computer never surpassed 1.75 hours.
Size – It is very thin and carrying it around is very comfortable. I had a 17″ and while I like the large display its uncomfortable to carry like a book.
Magnetic Clasp – When closing the lid the owner is rewarded with a very solid thump instead of a “creak” “clack” that you hear from so many other laptops that use a plastic display and mechanical clasp. Opening the monitor is equally a pleasing. You place you thumb under the lip and lift. The laptop may slide a little on smooth surfaces but the lid comes up smooth and controlled.
Keyboard – This is a great piece of work. Does it have “Home”, “Page Up”, “Page Down”, the legendary “Any” key? No. Doesn’t need it. A little research and practice and you will find that these “missing” keys are functions of the keyboard and I don’t miss them at all. Secondly the keyboard “key-float” (that rattle you hear when you lightly stroke your finger back and forth over a laptop keyboard) is almost completely non-existent. So when you’re typing it doesn’t sound like your wadding up crinkly plastic and you don’t annoy your neighbors. The key throw is short but very pleasant. Another thing I like about the keyboard is that you don’t feel like you will break the keyboard if your touch is a little heavy.
Display – The display is a work of art. No only does it look good, but flex has been reduced to almost nothing. It feels very solid and you don’t feel you need to worry about tilting the screen from the corner. The glass cover over the LED lit LCD display is awesome. You can actually clean the screen without LCD screen colors distorting. Not to mention that is automatically dims in low light and the key board lights up in the same low light conditions. that’s a nice touch. The display brightness is every bit as bright as my desktop LCD display in strong light.
Touch Pad – Any who has tried to use the touch pads on other computers (I hate them generally) will love this touch pad. It works like the iPhone (except scrolling is reversed for obvious reasons – you’re not actually touching the screen). The touch is light and very smooth. Making the entire touch pad the button is brilliant, it took me almost no time to get use to it and now I nearly push a hole through the Dell touch pad before I realize I have to click the buttons. I have no trouble with inadvertent touch that moves my cursor away from where I’m typing.
Quiet – I have yet to hear the fans. It makes me wonder if they ever work.
DVD Superdrive – Finally! No cup holder comes sliding out of the side of my laptop. Just simply slide the disc in and your done. It operates like the CD player in a car. It is easy to eject from the screen or a key on the keyboard.
Fit and Finish – The best I’ve ever seen. The only thing I’ve seen is a very slight misalignment of the Express Card/34 slot door. But you really have to look close to see it.
Operating System – WOW. Fast, no anti-virus, stable: it just works. I won’t get too much into the OS but I will say that once I understood how Apple likes things done OS X is very appealing. Not to mention that it sleeps and wakes up faster than anything I have ever worked with. Open the monitor and it’s sitting there saying “come on, I’m tired of waiting for you”.
Built-in Accelerometers – Not sure what they’re good for, but they’re cool. Like the iPhone the MacBook Pro has three accelerometers. There is an Stanford Laptop Orchestra uses MacBook Pros to make music using these accelerometers.
No Fresh Air Openings – I really dislike fresh air ports on the bottom of laptops. They are easily plugged and they suck fuzz and dust into the heat sinks. With my previous computers the fresh air ports were placed underneath the computer right where it sets on your legs. The result was you ran a big risk overheating the computer. The MacBook Pro pulls the cooling air through the keyboard and therefore has a smooth bottom making it far better to place on you lap.
CONS:
Chassis – While it is a brilliant piece of engineering there are a couple very minor issues.
One: Always pick the computer up with both hands. While this is true of all laptops you want to last, it’s a little more important with this one. The metal around the ethernet port has been machined very thin which was necessary to fit the large jack in the rather narrow side of the laptop. So if you have the monitor open and grab the laptop with you left hand and your thumb over that jack you could dent the metal around it. It doesn’t warp or twist the whole chassis, it’s too strong but you could see a small indention in a otherwise straight piece of metal.
Two: The metal in the Battery/Hard Drive Cover is very thin and sometime appears to hang below lip of the chassis. You really have to look to see it and it isn’t all the time. I don’t think is is warped or bent, but just the natural flexibility of aluminum.
Touch Pad Click – While I absolutely love the touch pad (in fact I only use a mouse anymore when I am programming on it because of the nature of the software). If you try to click at the top of the pad (nearest the screen) the force required to click goes up quite a bit.
Price? – Not really a Con. Some have complained about the price. Three and half years ago I paid 00 for a Dell 9100 laptop (All the bells and whistles, Window XP Pro, Office Pro, the works). It has been a great computer that has been put to pasture and my family uses it. I’ve only had two problems with it. The dreaded mexican jumping keys (a key flies off the keyboard after you press it down while typing; AKA broken key) Dell replaced the keyboard without any trouble and the hard drive crashed and needed to be replaced. The Dell computer when new cost more than twice the MacBook Pro does today and the only thing it has over the Mac (old age and technology not withstanding) is it’s 1920 x 1200 pixel display compared to the Mac’s 1440 x 900 display. If I were to order the most power 15.4 laptop Apple sells today, I would still pay half the price of the Dell and the Apple does much more and has better quality overall.
To summarize this is an accomplishment that the engineers, designers, and developers should feel proud. There is some room for improvement but these improvements are at a level that other laptops have to improve a great deal just to achieve Apple’s shortcomings.
I could go on further but I think this is enough. Apple has truly developed a great product in both hardware and software and I recommend it highly.
Review by Charles for Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)
Rating:
Apple’s site and other reviews provide the essential information on what was upgraded in this new MacBook Pro (two graphics systems; machined from solid aluminum; new industry-standard DisplayPort video out; new trackpad; other minor changes/upgrades).
But why get this computer rather than the much less expensive MacBook that appears almost identical?
1. The MacBook LCD display is poor. It is not just a smaller version of the MacBook Pro LCD display. It has washed-out blacks, poor contrast, limited viewing angles, and less vibrant colors. This is a huge difference. I confirmed this with a side by side comparison in the Apple Store (and the store staff member agreed), and you can find further discussion at gizmodo dot com (gizmodo.com/5063492/macbook-and-macbook-pro-dual-review).
2. The MacBook Pro’s excellent new graphics chip (NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT) can be used to speed up all operations (not just graphics) when the new Apple operating system (Snow Leopard) is released in January. This is not confirmed, but there is substantial discussion online suggesting this is the case. The 9600M is essentially a 32 processor computer (running at 120 gigaflops). So, a MacBook Pro will actually gain in speed over time. The MacBook does not have a separate graphics card that can work this way.
3. MacBook Pro graphics are twice as fast as MacBook graphics, so if you do anything visual with your computer (digital photography, video, games, etc.) then everything will run much more quickly and smoothly. Some games that are just barely playable on the MacBook become fun and seemless on the MacBook Pro.
4. The MacBook Pro has a firewire port (omitted from the new MacBook).
5. The MacBook Pro has an expansion card slot (really handy for adding a memory card reader or 3G roaming internet).
So, for the extra 0 (MacBook 2.4 GHz vs. MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz) you get a lot of extras that you will notice and use. And you will avoid the poor LCD on the MacBook. You are still stuck with the highly-reflective glass screen (if my eyeglasses can get anti-reflective coating, then why not this computer screen?), however, so it’s only four stars until they solve that problem.
Review by D. Perkins for Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)
Rating:
Apple is notorious for constantly updating their products, more or less to keep up the status quo on their products. The new Macbook Pro is no exception. This beautifully constructed laptop is a work of art in many ways in which i will detail.
SCREEN
The MBP has had a beautiful screen for as long as i can remember and this new model is no exception. LED lit means that it is “instant on”. when you open the lid, there is no warm up time like there is with other screens like LCD ect. The colors pop and are extremely vibrant and true. If you have seen an older MBP screen, you’ve seen them both, kind of. The new screen is all glass. The glass extends to the very outer edge of the lid, leaving no empty space. Simply put, you can’t find a better screen, not even on a Sony machine (and i love sony also).
KEYBOARD
The new MBP has an updated keyboard. The first thing you will notice is that the keys are black as apposed to the old silver. The black adds a nice touch because it accents the silver case. If you ask me, the old MBP had too much silver. EVERYTHING on the machine was silver aluminum. Don’t get me wrong, i loved the old MBP, but this is just one step up. The Keyboard is also backlit so when you are in a darker environment, the keys light up, helping you see anything and everything on the keyboard. The Keyboard is absolutely beautiful on the machine and adds a nice touch overall to the look.
TRACKPAD
I find it weird that i can put an entire section on a review about a laptops trackpad, but this is undoubtedly necessary. The new trackpad is ALL glass and there is no button—per say. In reality the entire trackpad is the button. They took off the button on the bottom and extended the trackpad down to give you more real estate. Apple spent months designing this trackpad and i have to give them major credit for that. recently me and my friend were looking at laptops at Circuit City, and one thing we did was go through every single laptop and look at it’s trackpad. It is absolutely amazing how much time and effort company’s DON’T put into designing their trackpad, when in my book, it is a HUGE factor. The coefficient of friction on this trackpad is exactly what it needs to be. not too rough, not too smooth, just right. I absolutely love the MBP trackpad and think it is something apple needs to be commended for.
GRAPHICS
Apple and NVIDIA joined up and came up with a new video card for this MBP. The MBP actually has 2 graphics cards in it. One that is integrated, and one that is dedicated. The integrated graphics is NVIDIA instead of the old intel, so it is immensely better. The dedicated card (which can be easily switched on) is a powerhouse and almost puts a MBP in line with other gaming machines, almost. Needless to say, this notebook will do just about whatever you want it to do graphics wise, gaming, video editing, photo editing, you name it, it will do it pretty easily. no worries here.
OVERALL
overall this laptop is at the top of it’s class and you might be wondering why i gave it 4 stars and not 5…..first and foremost, money. I have to say that this is still overpriced. You are paying for a collection of things like the operating system, graphics card, high end components and things like that, but come on apple, 2000 dollars is a lot to drop on any laptop, no matter what it is. Is it worth it? without a doubt yes, and that is why apple can jack up their prices, but at the same time, it seems like they are kind of taking advantage of us, especially in the economic slum we’re in right now. Maybe i am just cheap (which i don’t think most people would classify me as that) but that seems a little high to me. And another thing. what is up with the new display port? i have a 46 inch samsung tv and i will be hooking it up to my MBP but the cable is 100 dollars!!!! and that is just to dual link dvi—-i still have to buy a dual link dvi to HDMI adapter after that. Ugh. apple (along with other company’s…cough cough monster cables) is completely ripping us off on their cables and that makes a difference in my outlook on the big picture.
CONCLUSION
The new MBP is absolutely stunning in every aspect of its design. Apple continues to wow us, and they will also continue to prosper and grow. I will be enjoying my new Macbook pro and i hope this review helped you in any questions you might have had. It is an investment that will live for a long time and will be greatly enjoyed every day. good job apple.

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This computer is amazing. The cpu is amazingly fast, I'm able to run many multiple programs at once and the only lag I've seen was while 3 videos were loading and the lag only lasted for 5 seconds tops. But I'm able to run HD videos with no problem and this computer has a great sound mixer. The speakers aren't quite that loud tho unfortunately. This computer will also run a game like Left 4 Dead with no problem. I don't own any other computer game to test it on, but anything equivelent or older than Left 4 Dead will work perfectly fine. At the price this whole thing goes for, I'd say this is the best computer you will find out there for this price. I've done benchmarks and compared, you won't find anything better at this price. so to wrap it up in pros and cons.. Pros: -amazing 720p screen with HD video experience -video card will allow you to play games up to the equivelent of Left 4 Dead -Keyboard is easy to type on -3 usb ports make it useful for the average person -Windows 7 Premium is about the best OS I've seen and it makes tasks much more easier and enjoyable (look up reviews on it) -very fast processor -with 250GB memory and 7200 RPM I was able to download 4GB of memory off of a CD in under 7 min! -moderately light weight -boot up time takes around 30-40 seconds -16:9 screen -lots of RAM Cons: -scroll on the touch pad is a little sluggish when trying to scroll long lengths That's about it. I love this computer. Now if you're a serious gamer and you're looking for a nice computer to play your high frame rate games, this computer won't play them. Sorry to say, but for gamers, you'll have to spend atleast a 100$ more for a better video card. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPUTER TO ANYONE! Buy it, you'll love it! CUSTOMER REVIEW - There's a few other Compaq models similar to this one out there but in my opinion this is probably your best bet. Why?, A fast SINGLE core AMD processor. Although one of the dual core models will still probably perform better I just felt better spending less. I don't believe a whole lot of applications, at least the ones I use, use the two cores anyway. I also feel better that I can still buy a new computer in three or four years with the money saved. I don't think multicore processors are quite there yet in my opinion. In addition the graphics chip on this machine is better than those on the other models. So how does it perform? Well, doing internet surfing and music listing at the same time it does great. All PCs now should be able to do that ok but there are still some out there new and old that have problems and will not do that well. A good example is the acer desktop I bought which was discontinued almost immediately. It had problems Acer didn't want to admit to but they knew about. Long story short I tossed that massive waste of money out and bought this. This machine only has a hiccup in the audio once every half hour to hour when not doing anything else which is fairly decent. You can expect CPU or latency spikes on any computer to cause a hiccup every now and then. I haven't got a chance to try out much DVDs but movies in general seem to play ok on this machine with maybe a hiccup in the video or audio every half to hour or so. Of course it can be worse if you're running certain or multiple programs or a player that doesn't play well with your machine. It's not bad, not bad at all though. It also depends on the playback software you're using. You will find out which ones work the best on you're machine. Oddly WMP and the included cyberlink software seem to play it the best at least on my machine. Usually people experience problems with that included software but it works great for me. The wifi works fine but at least on mine it's some aetheros adapter with not very good drivers to go with it. With this there is a CPU and latency spike about every minute for about three to eight seconds at worst. Thankfully this computer is tuned in such a way where you will probably never notice this while listing to audio or watching video unless you're doing a lot of things at once. This computer probably isn't the best for HD video. I haven't tried actually buying an external Blu Ray player for it but I imagine you could probably run into some problems if that is what you plan on doing. I recommend a regular Blu Ray player or PS3 if you plan on watching HD video. This machine can play HD video pretty good if you close everything down with minimal slowdown or skips in audio. I've tried samples on this machine and they seem to play best in WMP and cyberlink. Flash HD video on youtube plays awful. I guess this machine is not quite powerful enough to do that. It's unwatchable. This is such a great machine though that I still recommend it even with the youtube HD problems. This machine will certainly tide me over for the next three to four years when I'll probably have to buy a new one anyway. At that time I imagine blu ray drives will be standard and cheap. Like I said though I don't believe technology for multi cores and blu ray is quite there yet, so why waste all the money now on it? I don't really believe in spending a whole bunch on something that will be outdated regardless in three years. For most people this machine should be able to handle most of what you throw at it. As for gaming it can run RPG Maker games just fine. Emulating other older game systems on this machine such as psx and snes is not a problem. This is probably the best computer I ever owned and I highly recommend it. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have had my computer for 5 months now....I do love it but the cd/dvd drive has never worked. Did not bother shipping it back because I figured with the shipping price, I would fare better just letting someone putting a new drive in for me. CUSTOMER REVIEW - ...and now HP cant help me because I am not at the US and this is a US excluve model. Even though they never said so at the guaranty. They want me to send it to the US, even tough HP exists in this country too, only because of the model, and I am will not do that because nobody will pay me back the sending money. I mean, I knew that the Compaqs where cheap for a reazon, but not this one. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I puchased this for a friend of mine, I gave it to her after I removed a lot of bundled software that always seem to come with all computers. it took a little while but was not hard to do. Would have given a 5th star if it came with a windows 7 system disk.It is fast and easy to connect to wi-fi. Would recommend it to others as a good basic computer. great price from amazon. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - Just bought this and I am very happy with it. the processor is not that bad, its faster then my old laptop so I am pleased. CUSTOMER REVIEW - On February 16 of this year I purchased a Compaq CQ60-615DX laptop. Almost 4 and a half months later I regret nothing. At some point during my college career - either my Sophmore or Junior year, which means 2000 or 2001 - I purchased my first laptop, a Dell. I used it for a number of years, but one day it just wouldn't start back up. Ever since then I've purchased HP desktop computers, and while I've helped others purchase laptops, and have thought about buying one, the price for the machine I wanted to build just wasn't in line with what I wanted to pay. So instead I'd purchase a nicely built desktop, for a fraction of the price. After goofing around with some other portable PC options, and debating whether to buy an iPod Touch, I finally settled on picking up this laptop. I trust HP to put together well-built, and dependable machines; three desktops of varying ages, still all working today. I wasn't sure about their Compaq line, but at the beginning of this month, based on this laptop, I picked up a low-cost Compaq desktop, and would do it again in the future. And a co-worker purchased this same computer a few months earlier, and when asked, said he still found it to be a good buy (and this is actually what pushed me over the edge). I won't speak too much about what the machine contains, since that's well covered in the specs. Instead, I'll tell you how I use it and what I've done to it, with notes as needed for what I've found to be issues. There's not too much junk installed on the machine, so no issues there; maybe 3 or 4 hours to get those uninstalled, backup discs made, and Windows Updates applied. While the 2 GB of RAM is okay, since this is a 64-bit machine I purchased 2 2GB sticks (from Crucial) for around $120, with shipping. It's unfortunate that it comes with two 1 GB sticks, but ... I did this 2 and a half months after I purchased the machine, so clearly it's more of a personal choice (I do Web development and wanted to be able to run various systems on VirtualBox). I've debated following the advice of another reviewer and swapping in a more powerful video card (Windows experience is 3.3 because of it, although Windows 7 starts up and runs fine), but with the Web surfing (handles Flash-heavy sites fine, as well as Netflix streaming) and development (mostly in Visual Studio 2010; have run Windows XP and Windows Server 2008 on VirtualBox) that I do on the machine, I haven't felt the need. (Office 2010 also handles well.) Wireless (B/G/N) has worked great, although I've had to manually turn it off and back on twice after it lost my signal, which is amazingly simple. (A third time I ended up powercycling my router, so I assume there were larger issues.) The left mouse button does seem a little unresponsive at times (3 or 4 times), but if nothing else, there's always USB mice, which I've taken to using when I'm at home, which is where this computer gets most of it's use, as I've shut down one of my desktop machines that I always had up and running for surfing and etcetera. Almost every day I lug the machine to work and pull it out during lunch to work on one thing or another. I purchased an HP EZ141AA Nylon Value Case, and while at first it seemed like it was going to be too small, it actually works really well. I highly recommend this bag, but if want to lug a number of other items within it, you probably want to look for something larger. Overall, I give this computer 5 of 5 stars and recommend it highly (and have to my sister and another co-worker). CUSTOMER REVIEW - i just bought the new toshiba for 399 and took it back video card was week ,watching movies not good qaulity i didnt like the sound card and the wireless was not up to par it was built cheap ,this compaq works better has a great video card for watching movies on youtube and its verry clear ,i watched 2 movies already on the wireless with almost no dragtime, its fast with the wireless im using the dlink it works great, better than my other 3 laptops windows 7 is awesome in performance , it smokes vista and xp i use the explorer IE webbrowser security you purchase from this site http://www.winferno.com/it works great and the computers fast it works great with 2 gig i will follow up and install the 4 gig this computer blows away the new toshiba and a lot of other laptos i boughtthis at best buy for 360.00 they gave me a break since i bought a 2 yr warranty, the computer looks great it isnt built cheap and better qaulity than my 1,000.00 vista ultimate laptop,it doesnt even come close working like some cheap computer or looking like a cheap computer, i give it a 10 star instead of 5 ,they built this with great qaulity and performance, and like i said its fast using the dlink wireless, the dowloads were great i couldnt believe how good it work and not just that the computer is verry nice looking it has a nice of & on button for the wireless and shut down ,plus this computer has the best wireless i ever used it is not good it is excellent,im on wireless composing this message, the sound card works nice to, the key board is verry verry nice, buy it you wont be let down CUSTOMER REVIEW - I have owned DELL, Toshiba & Acer laptops but this one is the best by far. We have it for about 3 months and do not have any problem. The laptop is well-made. The screen size is right for us. The battery life outlasted any other laptops we had. Unlike Vista, Window 7 works well with the hardware configuration and the performance is responsive. It connects to the wireless router on a fly (in a couple of seconds). We encountered no lags whether surfing on the web, editing document or watching movie. The stereo sound from the speakers is clear. The graphic is sharp. Overall, I give it 5 stars because of the performance, quality and value. I am planning to purchase the same laptops for my kids. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is my first laptop conputer (that I have actually owned). So this is from a novice. The good: Price, seems to be fast, LAN works real good, love the touchpad (after I "fixed" it), fast battery charge, Windows 7. Not so good: low speaker volume, touchpad "tapping" feature was turned on, black keys, Windows 7. Bought this from a local dept store; going for two weeks now, no real issues. Seems to be as fast or faster than my old desktop pc. I thought the touchpad was defective because it kept selecting things without me clicking on them. Almost returned it; did a little research (read the so-called manual). Discovered that the "Tapping" feature was on by default. I had never heard of the tapping feature (first laptop remember;). Turned it off and was very happy that I didn't have to return it. I like the metal-smooth finish of the touchpad, my finger tip slides smoothly on it. Had my old Norton Antivirus account transferred in less than 5 minutes online (someone here said it took 3 hours????). Wireless Lan connected on first boot in a minute or less and has been perfect ever since. The speaker volume is somewhat limited; some movies have insufficient volume unless you use an earphone. I hate black keys on a laptop. They can't be easily seen in dim light, but that is true for most I guess. I'm a control freak and had to learn a lot of patience with Windows 7; which wants to control every aspect of the pc. Every software package over 3 years old needed considerable research to take care of any custom setup or compatibility. Get used to frequently shouting "Give me the damn permissions!!!". The battery lasts about 2 hours with steady use and takes only about 15 mins to recharge. The three little lights on the front could have been different colors so you could tell them apart (all 3 are white). But so far I'm happy. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - ...because, after almost 6 hours having to endure the unproductive, absolute farce called "technical support," it was determined that the unit was shipped with defective software and has since been taken back to factory default. That done, for the one week of service, the machine seems to have been giving at least adequate performance. Part of the reason it isn't possible to offer more specific observations is that I'm new to WIN 7. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Only comes with DDR2 ram, I really disapprove of false advertising and wish I had saved my money. I thought I had found a good deal, but I guess not. I will be doing my shopping elsewhere from now on, I have never had any trouble with Amazon before but I do not have much money and to see it ruin my plans for a 4gb of DDR3 ram and low profile video game card for a low end gaming setup has cut me so short of money it will be another year before I can save up enough to buy another computer. Overall it is a great computer though, very nice looking on inside, I even tried installing my DDR3 ram I bought and it would not fit in the board. If you don't care about DDR3 your golden. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Well I just received this computer about two days ago, but despite this, I think I can make a pretty good assessment about its pros and cons thus far. I'll begin by saying that from an aesthetic viewpoint, this computer looks very nice. The case itself is matte, but the front bezel itself is a nice, glossy finish that really does look nice, all things considered. It has two USB 2.0 ports on the front as well as jacks for both headphones and a microphone, so no need to reach around to the back of the unit if you don't feel like it. Oh yes, just so you're not as confused as I was at first, the power button is technically located on what would be your right hand side if the computer's front is facing you, situated near the top of the case. The button is illuminated by a somewhat irritating bright blue LED, a lighting choice that seems to have become popular in the computer market these days, so it's kind of a take it or leave it thing depending on how you feel about such. The only ridiculous part of the external design is, in my opinion, the terribly designed bay for the DVD reader. A plastic flap obscures the drive itself, and to open it, one presses a silver button directly underneath this flap. Now this is all fine and dandy until you try to use it: would a nuclear power plant have a computer monitoring the reactor that is rendered inoperable after turning it on? The same issue takes place here--the plastic flap actually flips over the button itself after opening, making it a totally unnecessary fiasco to press the button again to let the drive read a placed disc. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that after a few uses the flap becomes a little stiff; it will show some difficulty closing after the drive door recedes. This is not anything severe, but you will probably have to push it closed manually. There's one more big issue that came up, actually: NO CASE FAN. I'm surprised this evaded my notice for so long. This computer should run pretty cool, and a case fan can run anywhere from $5-20, but the fact that they didn't include this is actually really underhanded if this is HP's idea of "cutting costs." Still, it hasn't blown up on me yet, and a fan is shipping in the mail. 1/2 point off. The hardware itself is decent; nothing mindblowing in this box to be sure. Two gigs' worth of DDR3 memory should give this computer some decent punch, but why not upgrade to four and max out its potential?***NOTE*** Apparently Amazon was wrong about the memory type. Another reviewer found it to be DDR2 memory instead of DDR3, so plan accordingly before purchasing!***NOTE*** The PSU is 250 watts, I believe. This should be enough to power everything on board adequately, but in case you were intending to add a second hard drive or add a graphics card, upgrading the power supply may be wise. In any case, it only comes with two power couplings for SATA-type devices, both of which are already in use by the hard drive and DVD drive. It does have some older MOLEX-type adaptors, however, and the motherboard hosts one IDE slot. I do have to mention that the power supply is kind of a pain in the rear to remove, though. The box also hosts one PCI slot, two PCI-e and one PCI-e16, I think. I'll verify this later. Graphics are integrated--not what you would want for gaming, but I find they're adequate enough to play PoxNora online with minimal hiccups, so it can carry you through in many cases. Processor is an AMD Sempron, which is a lower level unit, although it's definitely strong enough to run Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit without any issue. I'm having the hardest time finding out what's the biggest processor the motherboard will take, however; even the HP website and several manuals I've read thus far seem not to be willing to divulge this useful bit of knowledge. Overall, though, I think I can recommend this one as a purchase, especially for this ridiculously low price. ***EDIT*** They (Amazon) just lowered this PC's price to under $300 for a few days. It has since went back up to the default price, sadly. I'm not sure if that means I bought a lemon, but this is a definite must buy if you need decent computing power and the latest Windows OS at a price so low it could be called criminal. Just remember that Windows7 Home Premium does have some compatibility problems with older programs...to remedy this, you will need to change to either Professional or Ultimate. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this charger because my original broke, and the computer store near were I live want $50 just for the one part that goes to the computer. So i decide to go on amazon. I bought 2, one for me one for my mom. It works great. My only issue is the little box were the two cords meet tends gets really hot when its been plunged in for a wile. They came 6 days before the estimated arrival date. Over all I'd say its deff. worth the money iv had it about 3 weeks now and am pleased! So save your money and buy this charger!! CUSTOMER REVIEW - The cord is kinda short and the wire that runs from the wall to the adapter pulls out of the adapter easily. It does do the trick though and is much better than over paying for one from hp. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I saw this and thought it was a good deal, versus the price of the name brand product. It worked fine for the first couple of weeks, but after that, I started to lose power on the laptop if I slightly moved a bit, and started to find that the jack does not fit into the port in my laptop well. I have owned this product for a couple months now, and I anticipate that it will stop working completely very soon, as I find it very hard to keep my laptop hooked up to power, and it constantly switches back to battery power, causing me to wiggle the cord to regain power. Not worth the low price for a cheaply made product that won't last. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The Laptop charge is the same as the computer store sells, but $20 less. Great!!! CUSTOMER REVIEW - One is always sceptical that a replacement power cord is going to work, especially if it's not an OEM part. And at least for me it works. We've had this one for about 6 months and no problems, it works great. And you can't complain about the price which makes it a super deal. If you're old one broke, you can get this one for your Compaq. Nice deal. |

Works perfect for my 17" HP Pavillion Laptop. I love the fact that it does not have zippers and is such a great price. Delivery was fast. Only negative as others have said is the smell. I washed it once and put a Bounce fabric sheet inside for a few days and that took care of the problem. Recommended buy!

a laptop case that fits my 17"HP. Does what it needs to. Case was really smelly, so I washed and febreezed it and now it's fine. Can't really complain about it at all.

By S. STROVER (Brooklyn, NY)
I purchased this laptop sleeve on Tuesday, 10-20-09. After reading all the good reviews I decided to give it a try. I was surprised to have received it so fast on Friday, 10-23-09 USPS delivery. This sleeve fit my new Dell Studio 17 inch like a glove. Despite the reviews on the smell just open it up and let it air out or wash it on a delicate cycle. Such a wonderful sleeve and a perfect fit for a low low price even with the shipping cost all under $13.00. I am so overjoyed this is the best sleeve ever. I highly recommend it to all you won't be disappointed.

By Gerome F. Viray (Los Angeles, California)
This product fits my 17-inch HP Pavillion dv7-series perfectly. It was hard for me to find a sleeve that would fit my fairly large laptop, and I came across a gem with this product. Everyone before me is correct about the smell that this product comes with it, but after one or two washes, and some daily use, the smell goes away. I am extremely happy that I bought this product, and for the price, it really can't be beat. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase, now I'm off to find a messenger bag large enough to fit this giant of a laptop

Nice deal. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This was a great product that got my PC up and running in no time. Great Price, Fast shipping. Will do business in the future using Amazon. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Great price, quick delivery & it worked as expected. A lot cheaper than getting OEM part from HP/Compaq. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I really am happy because it gets the job done and I didn't have to pay alot more for something that I got from you at a WAY better price, thank you. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This power supply has exactly the same specifications as the power supply it replaced. The "broken" one had an issue with the connector plug being messed up. The new one was cheap enough that I BOUGHT TWO to have a spare just in case. I did this because this power supply also has the same connector as the one that broke on the original power supply. The order was shipped as specified. I am happy with my purchase. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this adapter and the thing shorted out in a little under a week after purchase. I truly got what I paid for. I would not recommend this to anyone. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - This computer was a very good product. I have not had any problems with it. touch screen is so amazing and my grandkids enjoy using it as well. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Sets up very easy. I had to download a decoder to watch movies...but they are free. This is my first all in one computer and so far I love the space savings. CUSTOMER REVIEW - If you need a real decent computer at a great price this may do it for you. Sure if your a high power person needing the fastest and newest equiptment then this is not for you. It does do a fine job for all my needs, storing music ,photos and browsing the internet. I haven't tried the built in web cam, have knowticed the speaker volume not the best but I'm sure I could add some speakers on. Came with the older Windows but have checked with M.S. and it is upgradeble to Windows 7. I like not having a tower to connect to, its a transition between a regular desk top and a lap top. I'm not disappointed in the product, glad I bought it. CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this computer for my parents who were looking for less clutter and wires on their desk. In that sense this computer definitely did an adequate job. I would have liked for it to have come with a wireless keyboard and mouse (you would think that would be standard with all-in-one computers), but I was able to find a relatively cheap set to include with my order. If all you want to do with this computer is surf the internet and do a little word processing, than you'll be completely satisfied with it. The fact that it has a built in DVD burner is a nice bonus in my opinion. The screen is a nice size, and the speakers work very well. Although I've moved on to Windows 7 with my computers, Windows XP still works just fine with this one. I would not try to upgrade the OS though. I docked it a star because the first one I received was DOA. However, per usual Amazon was great and had a new one shipped out immediately at no extra cost. I realize that DOA's are a possibility when it comes to computer purchases, but I still feel I have to take away a star. But like I said if all you're looking to do is use the internet, do some word processing, and maybe burn some discs, then you'll be very happy with this purchase. CUSTOMER REVIEW - The machine started up with no problems. Wireless hooked up as well. We needed xp for some older software that we still use. We have used it for over a month, once it froze on a web site, we rebooted with no problem. If this turns in to an issue, we will do a follow up review. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this computer for a paltry $300. On paper, it was adequate but just adequate. Instead, I have found it to be the best PC I have ever had. The CPU on paper is a measly "bargain" AMD chip, my 1st ever. I found it to be quite good and as fast as the dual core chips of the much more highly rated Intel. I think that the engineers have hit a "wall" when it comes to chip design(light travel time? overheating?) and one modern chip is as good as the other. So, if your demands are normal office in the home or just home accounting, writing or games, then this is a bargain buy for you. The chip might not be up to standard if you are a serious gamer(I don't know; I never put it to that test), but for me and the average consumer, it is absolutely fine and a great value. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Im using this computer as my main desktop, and im very happy with it , it handles everything ive use it for,it does come with a fairly small power supply so if you want to upgrade the video card its posibble that you have to upgrade the PSU.Its small compared to a regular size case but not as small, however there ir a smaller form factor from compaq for desktops. Would buy again for sure if i had to. Its also very very silent i have it next to the monitor on top of my desktop and id almost imposible to hear it.Beware it only comes with one PCI slot. CUSTOMER REVIEW - This is my second Compaq in two years (other is a laptop), and I'm very pleased with it. I get them from an office supply store when they go on sale. Yes, the processor is about two years or so behind the latest and greatest, and it lacks a graphics card (a $60 fix, if you feel like adding one), and it doesn't have a memory card reader (USB memory card readers are literally 5 bucks, or you can use the cable to your camera). It lacks Blu-Ray and wireless and Bluetooth. However the things it does have are Windows 7, a 500 GB hard drive, it's quiet, and has 3 GB memory. It's also much faster than what I was using. The specs aren't too far off of even the best computers, and at this price if its a dog you give it away in two or three years and don't feel bad. I haven't tried any games yet. If I were still really into gaming I would have bought something a step or two up. I think this only takes 4 GB memory and the processor is probably the other bottleneck. I'm pretty sure it will play some of the older games I like. Another thing: before buying these Compaqs I was wary of AMD processors. Since then, not at all. AMD gives you more processor per dollar, and I've run into zero compatability or reliability issues. The case design is pretty too. The keyboard and mouse are nice, and feel reasonably solid, but seem to be made for smaller hands than mine. One last thing: if you want recovery discs you have to make them yourself. I'm not sure if every manufacturer does this, but I was a bit put off by it. You need to have two or three recordable DVDs (I used DVD-R). You don't absolutely need to make the discs, because the hard drive has some recovery stuff on it that's pretty robust, but I think it's safer to make them. CUSTOMER REVIEW - When my old desktop died on me and I found it would cost me more to fix it than to buy a new one, I decided to shop for a new one. Money was an issue and since I was not looking for a fancy gaming computer, which requires more speed and a large capacity hard drive, I figured an internet browsing everyday home computer would do. In my search, I first stumbled on the cq5320f then on this model. Trying to decide which of the two to get, the cq5320f's price went up considerably... in a matter of days (literally); it went from $318 to $520! Therefore, I had to settle for cq5300f instead and have not regretted it one single day! Do not let the simplicity of this model fool you. It comes with enough speed and hard drive space for everyday usage and then some. Another thing I love about this PC is, it runs very quiet. In the past, I would swear by XP but since I tried the new Windows 7, I am totally hooked. For the exception of one of my programs (Nero 6), I am able to use all of my old XP programs and games. If in doubt, you can always go to the Microsoft website and check for Windows 7 compatibility issues. Bottom line is, if you are looking for a good affordable computer, I would not wait. This model is becoming popular and has already gone up in price in the last week. I've had mine for nearly a month now and have no problems and no regrets. CUSTOMER REVIEW - For the price (I bought mine for under $320), this computer is a great deal. Very fast, very quiet. |

CUSTOMER REVIEW - I bought this because like everyone else my original broke down. I have had this thing for less than 6 months and the black box fell apart and has to be tapped together. It will only charge my battery and power my computer some of the time. I constantly have to play with the cord and the connection to my laptop. It is really crappy and it is not worth the effort or time it takes to try to get it to work. Just spend a couple of extra dollars and get a nicer one. CUSTOMER REVIEW - DONT BUY! Within the first month of purchase the cord from the adaptor to the electrical outlet went bad. Luckily I still had the ac cord from my original adaptor that had went bad and I used that for a few months until the adaptor to the computer end went bad. Like a previous reviewer stated if it seems too good to be true than it is too good to be true (price-wise). CUSTOMER REVIEW - Works better than the one that came with my laptop. It doesn't seem to get as hot. About 1/5 the cost of a charger from HP/Compaq. Only had it for 3 weeks. As long as it works I'm happy. UPDATE: It is now 4 weeks and has quit working. I dont know how to change my star rating but give it a 1 CUSTOMER REVIEW - It works but most of the times when I connect this to my laptop..my mouse pointer starts flickering! however it's very cheap ($4.99).. CUSTOMER REVIEW - Pluged labtop into outlet a total of four times. Fourth time, the power bar green light turned off and plug does not work anymore in any outlet anytime. Waist of money! |
