Ive had this laptop now for about 3 months and its exellent. Im a Student and use this to watch videos and music, work etc. Ive found this laptop excellent in all respects, excellent storage capacity, spacious keyboard,cool touch buttons to control volume and wifi.. two things that are annoying:
one the speaker isnt loud enough. In one corner of the room its fine, my sister who has a vaio has exellent speakers, but this, its not very loud. Watching an episode or a movie is very cumbersome and you will probably need external speakers.
2nd problem which actually forced me to write this review. the memory card slot. The memory card gets stuck every time. i have to tweeze it out, it doesnt pop out itself like it should. I wonder how il get a micro sd out.. oh wait.. it falls out, the laptop doesnt even read it. so thats really stupid. if someone knows how to work around it i would appreciate the help.. hope this helps. Abit heavy to carry around as well.. Stay at home laptop.

I have this laptop for only 6 months and the battery needs replacing already. It never lasted more than 2hrs even when new under normal operating conditions. Now I need to purchase a new battery after a few months, guess I will get a 12cell instead, which is 0+, better to get a different model. Think I will go for a different brand next time.

I am a software engineer who has used a variety of brands. I got a 3 month old DV6t-2000 i7 quad core with 8GB RAM for development purposes. I trusted in HP brand and bought this computer to see that there is absolutely no support. The computers GET issues from time to time, a well performing computer does not necessarily mean that it is a good product.
The support department is going to offer you to replace the whole panel and reformat the PC if one of your key-caps(in my case up arrow) gets loose or broken. You will have to leave your PC to service department for at least a month if you have warranty, and if your warranty is over may God help you since your will have to pay several hundred dollars. There is absolutely 0 initiative, and prepare to talk to human robots. I went up to their CEO! and could not get a resolution. Managers are arrogant and chooses to fight with the customer instead of offering solutions.
I am an IT expert and strongly suggest advanced and novice users to stay away from HP as far as possible...

I have and HP Pavilion dv2650et which died after 2 years. My friends have the same problem too. If you search google, youtube, or HPs own support form you will see thousands of people have the same problem. They get very hot and eventually Nvidia GPU on the motherboard dies. You will get black screen of death. Just a few link for you to check.

Common syndrome of pending death:
The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.
The notebook has no power and no active LEDs.

I bought this laptop for my son, and he loved the look of it, and the size of monitor when he first got it. But it continually crashed on him and just never worked right. It would be fine for an hour and then blue screen, or it would run for 10 minutes and then blue screen. So I'm not sure what was wrong with it. I hate to put a bad name on "Acer" laptops because I've heard they are good. I believe this one just had a defect in it somewhere.
After trying several things with it for a couple of weeks I was finally forced to return it.

Overall I am very happy with this laptop. Good things: very fast; display very nice; 4Gbytes of memory lets me keep lots of programs open at once; quick to go in and out of hibernate; works pretty well for streaming video (even full screen); Windows 7 is behaving well; with all my software plus Windows, I still have 410 Gbytes free on the hard drive; wireless works well. Not-so-good things (probably these are typical of many laptops): battery supposedly lasts longer if not installed while using on AC power, but it's a bit awkward to install and remove it as needed; touchpad seems confusing (but some features can be turned off to simplify it); keyboard is flat, so it's not quite as comfortable as a desktop keyboard (although a desktop keyboard can be attached via USB if desired). So, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and I'm very happy with it.

This is the second Acer laptop computer I have purchased withen the last six months or so. The first one I bought has been bullet proof for six months now and so far this one seems to be built with the same quality. The set up was easy enough and I feel the price was reasonable. So far so good. The only thing Acer might improve on are the speakers. They are adequate but not superior as is the rest of the this computer. I would highly recommend this computer.

I was very pleased when I recieved this order way before estimated delivery date of Feb.17,2010 I recieved it on Feb.11,2010 and i had just placed this order 2 days before I recieved it is in excellent condition as described, very nice I jumped up and down it was so much nicer than expected! This monitor arrived with a bright blue line down the center of the screen. Dell would not send out a new one for exchange. They said that dead pixels is not a valid reason for a replacement. However, they told me I could return it, which I did. I was disappointed because I purchased it on sale and it was no longer on sale after I returned it.
One would think that that many dead pixels would be a valid reason for a replacement under their warranty, but apparently not!

Upside:
I have several computers, all running Linux, and bought two of these. One for my dedicated home theater PC running Xubuntu (though considering switching to Mythbuntu lately for its excellent support of my Linux supported HDTV tuner card) and this monitor just--WORKED. Right out of the box, as soon as I went to the Display control panel and selected the full resolution of 1920x1080 from the drop-down and applied it.. it blew me away. The dark and black graphics are wonderfully deep, the white are solid and bright. The color palette looks spectacular and accurate! I certainly think this monitor was well--WELL worth every dollar! It worked on everything from my do-it-yourself made tower server all the way down to my Dell Mini9 running Kubuntu. (I tried Karmic Koala 9.10 versions of Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Mythbuntu in all cases--all without problems.)
Downside:
I also tried hooking up a Nintendo Wii using a Wii-to-VGA cable... and although the Wii works flawlessly with my CRT monitors, and (at first) looks breathtakingly PERFECT on this monitor, it suffers from occasional screen blanking which I suspect might be due to being slightly out-of-sync. The Wii is trying to put out a 640x480 progressive at 60Hz, and although this monitor should handle this accurately, it seems as if there's something not quite right and it tries to blank out to sync back up again--at least, that's my guess. I haven't tried it yet, but I ordered and am waiting for a scaler to try out the Wii on the second monitor which I intended to use for gaming.
Summary:
I've only used the VGA connector (I have nothing with DVI output) but it looks absolutely beautiful. I don't recommend using a Wii-to-VGA to play the Wii on it, but then that's a bit of a hack anyway.. otherwise, I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about this monitor.

I'm very happy with the new Dell flat screen monitor. It's much wider than my old one. I'm so happy that I don't have to keep scrolling over to see the right side of the screen. The monitor takes up less room on my desk, and I like the look of it.
One problem we had was changing the resolution for better graphics. What I have now seems fine, although sometimes it seems a bit faded looking. My husband and I tried to go through the steps to change the resolution, but it was too complicated for us ( we're not that computer savvy.)
I was going to order the same monitor directly from Dell, but when I checked Amazon, I found the price to be less, so I saved money, too.

This laptop is a really good purchase. Good things about it: Keyboard (very confortable when a lot of typing is needed,The screen has a very good resolution, overall fast processing, disk space, good price, timely shipping/delivery. Not so good things: Speakers (you can hardly hear thru the speakers, with headphones though the sound is very good. Not very fast to rip/burn disks, batery doesn't last long.

I bought this laptop for my daughter's 21st birthday. After a lot of research and comparing prices I chose the Toshiba. My daughter has absolutely NO complaints after using this computer for the last month. The L505 was a good choice for me. In the middle of a large dissertation, I had to dump my old beloved 2004 Gateway to keep up with Microsoft's constant system upgrade demands. The Toshiba is a bit heavy for a laptop but it has a solid feel for my mostly desktop use. Mousepad functionality is spotty but I rely mainly on a mouse. It is fast and (thus far) my McAfee installs happen quickly and quietly in the background without my even noticing. My only complaint is the squat dimensions of screen. The 15.6" "Tru-bright" screen is nice and bright, but the screen ratio makes it wide and short. If you are a document writer (vice an Excel jockey or primarily an internet surfer) you are giving up a lot of good screen space for documents. The wide dimensions make for other annoyances ... the power plug and USB port (only 2) with a thumb drive inserted on the right side require that you keep your mouse-arm splayed wide-right. Why not put these ports in the back? Otherwise, for my $540, this is a great machine. I looked at Dells in the same price range and they seem cheap and plasticky in comparison. Unfortunately, we are getting to the age of disposable laptops, in which it is easier to buy a new one than to upgrade. Perhaps cheap and plasticky, low and squaty, are the wave of future.

I am a contract system administrator, and this docking station and HP 6930p laptop is my provided working platform. The docking station is sturdy and provides dual monitor support with one DVI, one VGA. I use dual NEC 19″ flatscreens. The slight variation between DVI and VGA is not objectionable over a full working day.
A physical security device connection does not exist on the docking station, but attaches to the laptop instead.
Sufficient USB ports exist for keyboard, mouse and at least two others.
Used with the HP 6930p laptop, additional USB jacks are available on the side of the laptop.
Dual monitor mode does not get confused on this docking station.
At power up, the laptop display is active, along with the docked keyboard and mouse.
Other than the price, this is a must-have attachment for your laptop if you put in many work hours.
